Jesus fucking wept they killed Bond...

Why?

I think they may go with a 007 spinoff with the black girl and if it bombs (more than likely) they'll then reboot a proper James Bond movie, but even still they really didn't need to kill him off especially after him finding out he had a daughter, other than that it was a decent show, ranked for me..

Casino
Skyfall
No time to Die
Quantum (yes I liked it)
Spectre

James Bond is a male character.’

They're not casting a woman James Bond. There will be a new Bond revealed probably within the next 18 months or so, and his first movie will be in 2023/2024.

Opinion disregarded, although I liked No Time to Die too.
I think it makes sense that he was killed off. Casino Royale was a rebooted origin story for him. Makes sense that they'd give him a beginning and an end. And there's rarely ever been continuity between movies so they can just bring another guy back and call him James Bond. Why not?

Yet they had a women taking the 007 title for a moment in the last movie. That was not a coincidence, they knew what they were doing and they were testing the waters.
Don't respond to gaslight me how "007 is not necessarily james bond".

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
Why leave Daniel Craig's Bond around if he was done with the series? It adds stakes to the movies and adds closure to a fantastic character. We already know that there won't be a female James Bond. At most it will be a female agent carrying the title of 007, but more likely it will be a new British male actor that takes up the mantle.

This thread feels like a "the movie didn't go the way I want therefore everything is ruined" kind of take to be honest.

Just watched No Time to Die.

Kind of mixed on it.

For one, 3 hours is too fucking long for a bond film. Felt more like I sat through the final 3 episodes in a mini series than a contained film. 3hours watching at home would have been no problem. But 3 hours+ in a cinema with no break is too long.

But the parts that work well, work very well. Especially the action. All the action scene are executed very well. And there are some fine dramatic performances too.

I am fine with them killing him off at the end. It was a heroic end.

The female/black 007... was fine I guess. Obviously a bit of stunt casting. But there was some good comedy banter between her and Bond. And they succeeded in not making it too cringy. But she was not a standout character for me.

On the other hand, the other female spy character Paloma was sensational! I can see her carrying a whole movie on her own.

Unfortunately the absolute weakest character in the movie was the kid who plays Bonds daughter. Even by kid acting standards it was poor. And by acting I mean just kind of being there in scenes with zero emotion on her face. Gun fights, kidnapping, deaths. Zero emotion or expression coming out of this one.

Also the main plot about nano machines targeted to kill people this literally the plot of MGS4. I just had to laugh at how dumb it was.

Anyway its no cinematic masterpiece. But it is decent, albeit long, well directed action movie that looks and sounds great. Just don't go in with too high expectations.

I understand why they did it but imo it was the obvious choice, i mean would it have killed them to have him appear to be killed, i.e. everyone thinks hes dead and then have him meet up with his daughter at the end or allude to it, with everything he's been through to show him he has a daughter and then to kill him without him getting the chance to know her was just off for me.. i could be a bit more emotionally invested in that particular part due to having a young daughter

I think that version would be even more obvious. Other movies have already done that, Batman and Bourne and some others probably. I agree it was a bit of a bummer but it worked as far as emotional impact goes.

The films with different actors playing Bond aren't linked. The Craig universe isn't connected to the Moore universe, so killing off Craig is no big deal.

I wanted Idris Elba to be Bond next, but he might be a little old for it now.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Haven't seen it yet but the internet has already spoilt the film with their headline articles.
But I have to say, this bond series is/was a pretty tragic tale
He seemed to had a lot of lot of hardship during his time and to end it with his death is pretty sad imo.
With that said I think that's why this maybe is my favourite Bond

Killing Bond makes death in these movies entirely pointless. If you can kill off the protagonist without any consequences, there's really no point in watching these movies anymore as they are completely devoid of any stakes.
Even worse, if they keep producing more "James Bond" movies, not only is his spy tag not unique anymore, but his iconic name is also being reduced to nothing more than a spy cover. They completely broke the continuity of the movie series.

There's no more place for exceptionalism. Anyone can be Bond 007 now, turning yet another emblematic character into an ordinary slob.

Haven’t seen it yet, but a bold move to end the Craig era like that.

Would love to see a reboot take place during Cold War. Just bring the Russians back!

Did you watch the end credits? It says James Bond will return. They will reboot the series with a new actor.

I saw the movie yesterday and it was great. Not as good as Casino Royale but still very good. This was good ending to Daniel Craig's Bond movies. The run time was 2 hours 45 minutes but it didn't feel that long. I liked Rami Malek but he should have had more scenes. Same with Ana De Armas.

Yeah i know he'll return, James Bond is a multi billion dolla beloved franchise, they always reboot.. my gripe was killing off this version of james bond after giving him the woman he loves and the daughter he never knew he had, shoulda let the cunt ride off into the sunset, i mean they killed everyone else off ffs

It could be something that Daniel Craig wanted. I thought about them killing Bond before seeing this but didn't expect them to actually do it. I liked how they referenced to On Her Majesty's Secret Service and used the music.

Didn't really liked the movie. Lack stakes.
Though fine with black woman 007. She was alright in the movie.

ManaByte ManaByte is there a stunning and brave black woman in the movie? Does Bond get lectured for being outdated?

So, the new 007 is a black lady, let's not try to deny the obvious of what they were trying to do. Thankfully get woke go broke is a thing.

there's none of that shit in the movie, its a bond film and he gives as good as he gets plus the new female 007 is class tbf

Thought it was a strong ending to the Daniel Craig series, which has been very uneven in quality.

<Spoiler>

The Cuba scenes were the highlight, especially the ‘nervous CIA agent’ with ‘3 weeks training’ 😂. Also liked the humour and call backs. Pretty cool mostly

and that they tried to make bond less like a sad souless terminator (although they had made it clear that what happened to Vespa destroyed him emotionally).

wasn’t so hot on

the run time, it didn’t drag, but it felt long.
the watch gadget made no sense. It was used to effect the enemy electrics, but bonds headset worked just fine afterwards !!?? (Just so he could have the last conversation in the movie and make people tear up)

also the villains plan seemed weak, kill everyone, just cause !!! And the maguffin ‘weapon’, well the less said about that the better (how is it powered ? Couldn’t a carrier just not touch anyone they cared about ? Or was a target ?)

</spoiler>

but a good finish and it will be interesting to where they take bond next and what type of bond they go for….

Only people who haven't seen the movie say things like this.

Female 007 gets owned by Bond literally every time she tries to outsmart him.

I was suprised to see that Hans Zimmer is the composer for this. Music was good but there were some moments that reminded me of his Batman soundtracks.

“Use the Force, James”
Also M got that virus post credits and lost his nose then shouted “potter” because that’s name of his mate who has the idea for the nano virus.
Wonder what he is gonna do?

My three word review:

What the fuck?

-

Holy hell that movie was stupid. If you wanna kill him, kill him. Cut the shit about this chick being his one true love, and then him having a daughter he only knows about for like 3 days and then conveniently gets a virus that would kill them so he sacrifices himself. Fuuuuuck outa here.
