Halo CE and Halo 2 Graphics FIXED Finally by 343 - Halo MCC

Big props to 343 for fixing an issue that not even Gearbox addressed following the PC port of Halo Combat Evolved. It might not be perfect yet, but its a huge step in the right direction. The current insider is work in progress so I'm confident the final results will be great.

Thanks mods for the title change

Thank Christ!

Okay I've watched it now, its not really fully fixed yet, but they've made great strides. Fixing problems created by others isn't easy I'm sure.

I'll put off my replay of the 1-3 + Reach for another few months until they actually finally fix it though I guess, its been two (2) years since I thought about doing it I'm sure I can wait another few months.

Now they need to fix the audio levels for Halo 2 on classic graphics. Given that the original music is far better, it's a shame you can barely hear it while playing.

343 can stick it where the sun don't shine until they fix the stutterfest they caused on Xb1X Halo CE and Halo 2 campaigns using modern graphics. They broke those when Reach was added and despite many people asking them to, they havn't fixed it for over a year!

That's right, if you have Xb1x you can't even play Halo 1 or 2 campaigns without the worst stuttering I've ever seen...despite the fact that it used to work fine! That is how awful a company 343 is!

All I want to read is that they fixed the Co-Op Cutscene Crashes on Halo 2.
I tried to play H2 with a friend for our MCC Legendary playthrough but I swear to god it was just too much of a gamble. We gave up 10/15 levels through. The Level "The Oracle" nearly broke us with all it's cutscenes. We had to do this one at least 7x to be able to FINISH it even once without it crashing. Such a horrible experience.

I would think most people played H 1/2 with the anniversary graphics...
In Halo 1's case, the anniversary graphics are garish and horrible, so most players looking to replay it will avoid it entirely.

For Halo 2, the Anniversary graphics are mostly tasteful and truer to the original art style, however the previously in game cut scenes have been replaced by full CGI reproductions that change the tone, pacing and feel of the story, and all the music has been re-recorded and, in some cases, replaced entirely with inferior music.

So in Halo 2's case there has never really been a comfortable mode in which people can be completely satisfied. You were either stuck with an inferior classic version of both 1 and 2, or stuck with two versions of the game which change far too much to truly feel like their original identity is intact.

I'd argue both cases are worse than what occurred in the re-release of the Star Wars trilogy.

Personally, the ideal Halo 2 would be Anniversary graphics, Classic music, and Classic cutscenes with Anniversary models.

Not to mention anniversary mode has some frame stuttering issues and at times its unbearable (both on xbox and pc)

Yeah there's that too, I couldn't believe how bad it plays at points when playing it recently on a Series X.
That's really pathetic that even on Series X, the H2A stuttering persists. I've been on a losing crusade to get 343 to fix the xb1x version (halo1 and 2), because they used run smoothly on XB1X until the Halo Reach patch which introduced the stutter to unbearable levels. 343 just ignores it though of course. It's been a year and a half now.

I figured FOR SURE that at least I'll be able to enjoy H2A, which looks fantastic btw, if and when I get a Series X. To hear it's still broken doesn't surprise me though. 343 is a trashy company that's poorly run and it runs all the way up to the top positions at MS at large as far as I'm concerned. How you going to allow Halo games to be unplayable for people who've supported you by buying your latest "worlds most powerful consoles"? It's not a good look.

I seen the comment about fixing the gears ultimate edition and went to like it, but it wasn't there! Then slowly realized it was my own comment from a year ago! Epic fail.
Lol...but seriously the fail is again on MS. Didn't they make promises that Gears 1 Ultimate was going to be upgraded for Series X prior to launch? Did they ever do that? Last I checked it was still 1080p/30 fps

they didn't, they used it as a showcase demo that they can do res and fps boosts on a system level back when they showed the Series X behind closed doors.

they eventually released an FPS boost for it, but no res boost. most likely ran into issues while fully testing it
