If that is your opinion then that is fine. It was extremely well received. Personally I thought it was great particularly the battle system which really made it fun from a tactical perspective.

But to each their own. Either way, if Bioware can get back to that then it is at least a step in the right direction after Anthem.
I appreciate the respect. Yes, it's just my opinion. I think it was well received because it was the first decent game on the then-next-gen systems.
I won't say that it wasn't a good game, and yes I had fun with it. I had fun exploring the world and I do recall enjoying the combat, so you and I are in agreement there.

I think one of the things that really turned me off was that the conceit of the game is that you are the inquisitor. But all the functions of that title were delegated to your subordinates, whom you'd send off on those mobile-esque quests that you didn't see, they'd just come back with success or failure depending on the stats. Meanwhile you're off camping, collecting six moose pelts so you can get the quest to pick up the ten fragments. That strikes me as missed potential.

I will say this-- there were nuggets of absolute glory, and moments where it seemed Bioware was back. There's a moment in a desert where I followed the breadcrumbs of what seemed to me to be a very obscure quest. I followed the clues wondering if I was even doing the right thing, and it turned out that I was-- found a suit of armor in a secret cave. That was amazing.

Hell maybe I'm wrong. It's been years since I played it, maybe I'll give it a second round.

And I absolutely agree with you--- if 4 is similar to Inquisition it's at the very least a step in the right direction

Inquisition was great.

Good news finally.

I mean, the bigger concern here is whether the game is able to not be shit... considering what Bioware has put out over the last gen.

I'd much rather take a cross-gen DA4 that's GOTY-quality akin to DA1, than another DA2 that is next-gen only.

How long have they been working on this games. 10 years?
Lol remember when they put out mass effect 1 2 and 3 and dragon age 1 2 and 3 in a seven year time period? Now it takes them more than half a decade to release a single fucking game. And they come out like shit anyway

That's all well and good, BUT, will I get to be lectured by a party member again if I misgender a rando NPC? That was my favorite part of DA:I.
