On both ps5 and series x….game has almost mouse like movement…there’s no smoothing

well good to hear after so many FPS games this year had awful controller aiming when they released
no smoothing, no filtering, no shitty acceleration... how it should be

Yeah I wasn’t saying it was a bad thing…sorry should of clarified it

there is none or very little (could not tell) aim assist
And no acceleration on aiming so it’s very easy to get used to the movement as it’s always uniform

go and play a game like back 4 blood which has aggressive aim assist and acceleration and you realise how dumbed down games are now

I wouldn't say dumbed down, it's just that it feels like ass and developers still have that PS2 era mindset of "we need to manually adjust analog inputs so that shooters work on console"
this was the notion developers had during that early years of twin stick shooter controls because they thought it would be too hard to aim when just using direct mouse input conversion.

thankfully many developers actually figured out that this is nonsense... many, but by far not all.
like the way Quake remastered launched was a fucking joke lol

My problem with modern FPS are this stupid ideia of 'auto aim' or 'aim assist'. Some you can't even disable.

exactly. I used that custom controller layout someone uploaded for the Halo Infinite beta because the native controller aiming was atrociously slow and had unavoidable aim assist and acceleration.
I played with no aim assist for 2 days and regularly was at the top of the leaderboards with the most kills in the game.

so I played against mouse players and controller+aim assist players and had no issue keeping up on a controller using mouse emulation and therefore having no aim assist
aim assist is not needed, everyone is just used to it, but in the end, if we just took it away, people would get used to no aim assist within a few weeks I bet.
H1Z1 on PS4 had no aim smoothing, acceleration or any of that crap AND had no aim assist... yet noone in that game had any issue with that. people lasered you with SMGs from miles away, so much so even that they had to nerf Hellfire SMG so that it had damage drop-off at a distance.

edit: I have to add that this is only true if the game has good aiming controls of course. RDR2 or GTA5 like aiming without aim assist would be unplayable, it's barely playable as it is with hard lock-on in place
