Damn, no wonder why the merc was dying all of the time. All of her equipment was trash by Nightmare standards. Upgraded everything to exceptional quality... The chainmail chest piece went from 138 to 365 armor! The bow went from 9-20 to 24-56 damage. Such a great use of all those perfect gems and runes. Now I have to survive, cause they've been all used up. lol

Was able to craft a „heart of the oak“ flail for my Hammeredin yesterday. I’m 4% shy of having 125% faster cast rate. Damn it.

Can someone enlighten me why the cube recipe for crafting a ring doesn't work?

I used something similar for an amulet with a different rune and it worked. The internet tells me it should work but it doesn't. What do i miss?

Just create an offline character until online runs better (glad I never got an online char anyway).
You can try to get an HC char to lvl99.
No rollback, no stutter, no queues if you play offline.

Did you make an Ancient's Pledge shield? Combine that with a Prismatic Amulet (you can craft it) Smoke armor (2 socket body armor, low level runes Nef, Lum), these 3 pieces alone will give you a huge boost to resistances.
I'm at the end of Act 2 on Hell, it's been a big challenge but keep at it. Also, I've barely farmed for anything, you should get enough good gear to use just playing naturally. Don't be afraid to experiment with Mercs. In 1 area that had physical resists (my build is almost pure physical DMG) I used an Act 3 lightning Merc to take out those enemies from afar while I stunned and tanked them. Next area had lightning resists so I switched that Merc out to the ice version, play around and see what works.

I can't believe how on point everything in this game is. Every single stat, item, and skill makes such a big difference. I'll be getting my ass kicked (like usual), then switch out a few items, gain a couple levels, add some defense (a Barbarian skill) and vitality, and boom, right back in the game. Even just changing or adding one of those can make you last longer or kill mobs quicker. Same goes for the merc.
Feels good to know you don't have to start all over once things get tough, because there's usually a gap that you can fill somewhere. Even if it might not seem like it... at one point I switched out a vitality item for defense, thinking no big deal, but damn was it a noticeable difference.

I already have the prismatic amulet with +19 but didn't used it in nightmare because my other amulet gives me a nice boost for faster cast rate and other things. Next time i switch to hell i will use it. Neither Ancient's Pledge nor Smoke. I have a hard time to find socketed gear. Farmed the cows for a good base shield or armor and tried to add some sockets via the cube since i'm out of the Larzuk quest but everytime it is the wrong amount of sockets and now i'm out of runes. My gear isn't bad but some parts are outdated. Still hanging on to my stealth armor which is not to good in its defence but has some nice additional stats. It is also quite rare to get a nice orb that is tailored for a lightning sorceress.
I do use different mercs for different situations. Much easier with them!
The suggestions are good though and i will keep at it.

Put fcr on rings.. swap em around on the spot for certain areas.. res+ to what you need.

Broken ass fucking game. It lagged causing me to die from something off screen. Trying to get my body back i only managed to pick up everything but my memory rune word. Died again before i could get it. Server crashed. And it wasnt on what was left of my body. Gone for good. I have what it takes to make another but seriously fuckin stupid

PSA: there is something called OFFLINE mode, no server crashes, no rollback, no lag, no bullshit, works 100% of the time. Unless you're playing with actual friends I don't know why anyone would want to subject themselves to the frustrations of playing online. Trading? Nah, earn that shit yourself lol.
Made it to Act III on Hell, feels good. Act II was super tough in spots mainly due to the summoner enemies in various tombs, it would resurrect/summon AND heal skeletons faster than I could kill them, got to the point where in certain tombs I'd just try to run past all the riff raff and get to the objective, Act III is already going a lot smoother

I can't believe Blizzard thought they could just slap a global database behind the old netcode and call it day, well actually current Blizz I can.
This launch is a disaster, we have no ETA on when the server issues will be fixed when they should be starting the first season now. I have a feeling the server fix will end being that enough people left the game more than actually fixing it.
Meanwhile PoE is rolling out a new season this week and its hyped up to be their best one yet.

Heads up, I just installed the latest patch.. The game has frozen twice now and nullified hours of progress on my save. Playing offline. Suddenly, the screen just turned black, the music continues and the Diablo II logo shows together with the loading-icon but nothing happens.

I play it on my pc connect to my 4k tv for 4k60fps and it look and play great. I turn on the legacy and it look completrly terrible, was it this bad when it was on pc back then?

This happened to me earlier today on Xbox. I could still hear the audio and could see the menu cursor when I opened the menu. Really strange. I let the game save before closing so I didn’t lose progress at least.Can confirm. Game was running too well offline - they had to patch that with a black screen.

Are elite weapons & armor of rare & unique quality hard to obtain when you get to Hell difficulty? Because looking at this rune list is a total nightmare. To get a Fal rune, you need 3 Ko runes, which requires 3 Lum runes, which requires 3 Lo runes, which requires 3 Hel runes.... and that's not even all of it. These tiers are massive and I only have mostly the low level ones on Nightmare. And the Fal rune is just 1 of the two runes needed to go from exceptional to elite on a rare weapon upgrade!
Is upgrading items manually not recommended? Because this would seriously take a long time to upgrade everything. (I currently have no elite items.)

I've upgraded 1 weapon to elite (which I've been using since Act III NIGHTMARE, now halfway through Act III HELL) and 1 piece of armour to elite (no longer using). Got the runes for everything naturally during my run through Normal, no farming. It's absolutely worth upgrading stuff, can have a huge and immediate impact. Rockfleece armour I upgraded went from 220 DEF to 560 for example, that's more than double. Just have to be mindful of spending those precious runes and keep in mind it's only the ATK/DEF that increases, *all other bonuses stay the same!*
EDIT: and I'm not quite sure if I've seen any elite tier drops on Hell yet, maybe

All I can tell you is that I fully explore every single map, open every single chest, break every single crate/urn etc (actually found a good handful of runes this way). Same here. And I repeat areas quite often when I quit and return. At least up until late Act II on Nightmare, I haven't gotten many good runes. I did get a few Hel and 1 Shael rune but that's about it. Still have at least 5 tiers up to go (with 3x runes needed for each tier).

On PS4&5 you can comfortably disable the network connection in the system settings, start the game with your offline character and then enable network again (if you need it).
Should work on Xbox as well.
That's how I play, too. Pure old school, no Pindle- or Baal-runs. You find plenty of runes and uniques just by exploring everything.
For ladder-play that's way too slow though which is why I'll never be successful there (I have to explore and collect everything).

Yup, I can't imagine doing hundreds of runs in the same area just hoping for something to drop, sounds mind-numbingly boring lol, you'll get so much good stuff just playing naturally and the game will be 1000x more enjoyable.

Perfect Topaz? I haven't found perfect anything... it all came from transmuting 3 flawless gems together. Which drop all the time in Nightmare with /players 8. If you find a gem shrine, you can also instantly turn a flawless into a perfect.

For real though, I've had countless flawless gems drop but not 1 perfect one. Ended up with so many perfect's from transmuting that I had to sell a bunch to the vendor. Give it a try.
Early on you can also do normal to flawless to perfect. I didn't even bother with anything lower than that, 'cause it wasn't necessary.

Yeah, I know about the cubing. I'm having shit luck with flawless/perfects. I'm running NM cows for speed and then hunting gem shrines to upgrade what I find, but so few topazes of any quality. My online necro was swimming in the things. Lord.

If you're on singleplayer (Nightmare or Hell) and want to refresh the map for whatever reason, you can do so by going back to Normal difficulty then Nightmare or Hell again. I just went back to Normal to get some chipped gems and all of the areas were refreshed. Same for when I went back to Nightmare after.
Although it's right on the help menu, using shift + 1-4 uses up the potion on your merc automatically. Instead of having to drag and drop it over their menu on the top left corner.
