Switch and PS5 GTA Trilogy graphics comparison

I dunno I can see a big difference on my phone. In vertical mode. Where most of the screen is not showing the video.

Switch version looks quite a bit worse.

On the other hand, who really cares.
I mean, I see a slight difference but it's the same thing. Switch is the obvious choice because GTA will be great to play on a portable.

I don't notice much of a difference, definitely getting this on the Switch for portability.

This probably explains why you are so invested in the switch then. If you can't see a difference then fair play, it won't bother you. for the rest of us mortals with forward facing eyes, it looks bad. And being able to play it 'on the go' is not something that can remedy that particular issue. It's not even passable on the traditional consoles, and definitely not on Switch.

Basically you got a targeted version for mobile that's impossible to do in the Android/iOS space because of the range of SKUs - the comparison really should be done when the mobile versions release early 2022. I'm guessing the delta will be smaller between that and the console versions imo

I mean to be fair, it's not a great looking game on either console. It certainly looks similar enough that my enjoyment of the game would not be any different, so then it would be obvious to get on portable, and like I said, the little difference in graphics there is - is hard to see playing on the small screen.

You're right it isn't. It's terrible - like when I look at the concessions for the Switch for The Witcher III, then that's a fair trade off imo. Because The Witcher III absolutely is a must play and the benefits of it being on the Switch probably outweigh the compromises they made. But what we have is a port that struggles and is unrefined on console, downporting that as well as the issues unique to the Switch means you have a poor game made worse because of the platform. If you want my honest opinion, I can see the iOS and Android versions being the most performant versions across the family.

I don't think any version does enough to justify that it should exist to be honest. Ultimately sales will speak the loudest and it will probably do well so we're all up in arms but R* won't give a shit.

Seems a good job on Switch, biggest difference are resolution and framerate, but still a good upgrade on the original games. I'll buy it when will be a lot cheaper to play in portable.

Are ... are you being sarcastic?

The Switch version looks pretty bad, and we all know the machine is far more capable than what is on show here.
Playing Metroid Dread right now which is beautifully crafted with love and care. Bought it for £34.99 day one. Looking at this POS bare bones meme worthy game that RS want £49.99 for…

RS soon (probably): ‘we won’t be supporting Switch anymore due to poor sales’.

How about don’t serve up shit? It’s annoyed me because this should and easily could have had as much love and care as Spyro and Crash and really deserved to.

This game is going to sell. Already at the top of the eshop chart.

I've been playing SA on Switch undocked and the port is solid.

These are some of the all time best games :messenger_neutral: Just because you don't like the remakes (which are still way better than the originals) doesn't change that.

I was watching some switch YouTube gameplay and I thought I wasn't wearing my glasses for a second there. It's bad.

You err... started a graphics comparison thread on a gaming enthusiast forum... not really sure what you were expecting.
I thought people would be excited that the handheld alternative looks pretty much the same (minus some sharpness and frames).

Anyway, I'm going back to playing SA on Switch portable. This is awesome for me anyway. I've never played the game before. Really liking the vibe I can see myself sinking 50 hours in this easily.

Blurry with some effects and lighting scaled back. 30fps as well. Both consoles can do better but can't say I'm surprised based off the studio doing the switch port.

Agreed.

PS5 looks a bit better in the ways you would expect it to, but not nearly enough to sacrifice portable play.

I wouldn't bother with a game like this on my 4K television because it's not a looker anyway.

It's only a worthwhile trade off if you value portable play. Personally, it has no attraction for me and never has so it would never justify any amount of cutbacks. Horses for courses and all that.

I see low frame rates and stuttering in the Switch version, and even some stuttering in the PS5 version. And yes, low resolution for the Switch but that is to be expected. Still feels like a "lazy" port since the games are 15+ years old and the Switch should have no issue handling them.

But, I actually like the contrast better on the Switch. PS5 has too much black crush.

It's a massive difference in what you see and how it feels/runs.

It's a cute comparison for the sake of it but it's just stating the obvious.

If you want to toot your horn on portability then die on that hill but it looks like a vaseline filter on top of everything lower quality while reducing all noteworthy effects.

It's cool that's it's coming but obviously the concessions and changes made to all versions make this the biggest paper tiger false positive we've had in a while.

In a sick and twisted way it looks closer to the original on PS2 with poor performance and shitty everything (compared to modern standards). But if some want to grasp at any straw and find the turd in the heap of junk then you can argue this in some capacity for the Switch version to feel validated.
