Anyone who struggles with controller aiming, this will help. Especially the aim zoom ratio thing

I can't remember my sensitivity values, but for me:

Aim Assists: OFF
Uniform Aiming: ON
Vertical lower than Horizontal sensitivity
Aiming/ADS FOV: ON
Scope Sensitivities are all the same
Aim Acceleration: OFF
FOV: 74 (90 horizontal)

Did this the first day and it's felt great.

I haven't played Halo Infinite MP yet, but if it turns out solid, I can see it REALLY harming BF2042, given the negative sentiment and mostly poor reactions from players.
Eh, I see what you're getting at, but BF will always attract a community that won't be into Halo, and vice versa. I think it'll be fine. If anything, folks will just dabble with both since the gameplay is different enough.

You might, but not everyone will have the time for both, and the F2P one is more appealing at first glance than the full priced release which has lukewarm receptions.
That's true, but it was never really an issue in the past. Besides, Infinite MP is free now, but apparently BF is going to have a free mode at some point.

Also, 2042 hasn't "fully" launched yet, the people playing right now purchased the Ultimate Edition.

Would you please provide us a list of drugs required to take in order to have a blast with this train wreck?

Ta.
I'm enjoying it as well, especially since that server error appears to be resolved, and my performance seems to have increased with the latest Nvidia drivers that were dropped recently. In any situation, the larger the world is in the game, the more room there is for bugs and errors. They certainly exist here, but a lot of issues from the beta have been fixed. The game STILL very much feels like Battlefield.

People have complained about how "empty" the game feels, and I think that's pretty silly. The game's primary focus revolves around capturing points. ALL of the action is going to revolve around said points as teams are, y'know, trying to win the game, lol. Between points there will STILL be action, but it was be sparse as every team is spawning on squad mates, on points in danger, or in vehicles.

If you're spawning at a point and planning on running kilometers to another one, you're doing it wrong and you're new to BF apparently, lol.

My only complaints I have are the specialists and their abilities being a thing, it kinda throws off the BF vibes IMO. I also feel like there could be more weapon choices.

But aside from that, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm just hoping that day 1 patch is fat AF. But like all BF titles, especially the more recent ones, it'll get better with time.

It's far from a train wreck. But please, ride that train.

I’m having a blast with the game, hoping they fix tons of bugs in day one patch.
same. but i thought it was stated that a lot of the bugs that we're all talking about (bullet "bloom", assault rifles being less accurate and worse than smgs, massive maps with too much space in between points, terrible scoreboard, etc.) won't be in a day 1 patch or even in the coming weeks. hope i'm wrong!! i love battlefield and need a good shooter!!

I disagree.

One could have argued that BF4 is confused and doesn't know what it wants to be....

Wants to be a single player game, wants to be "call of duty" cause it has Team Death match =) Sir...you could have argued that BETTER with BF4 vs this game.

This game is clearly more MP focused with 2042 all out warfare for something new, hazard zone for something new, conquest for classic BF and Portal for even more classic BF with rules for exactly what the fuck you even want.

Simply more so sounds like you don't like the game and this isn't the game for you then any real technical problem, anyone can fucking saying anything is "shit".

Reasons not to buy Mario Kart and that its "framework" is brokenz "Karts are shit, tracks are shit, drift play is shit" Who the fuck is taking that seriously? Sir....I don't think I or anyone else can ever really take a view you have seriously if it seems like most of your post are like edgelord, extreme "its shit, its shit and this is shite" etc lol

I can take a difference of opinion, can't stand fucking liars so fucking desperate to attack users and a video game, they start making shit up.

So that tank just "barely" went thru that whole fucking neighborhood? lol

sigh and here is where we need to just ignore you bud.

agree with all of your points, EXCEPT the gunplay. which you didn't really touch on. bf 2042 definitely needs to fix shot bloom, ttk and ttd as well as rebalance some of the guns.

I think the TTK is fine, just that the bloom and hit registration bugs are making it seem longer. TTD can feel wonky sometimes though.
Yeah, I'll admit for awhile I thought the TTK was strange. But this morning it felt good. So I think it was less of a TTK thing, and more so related to the performance stuff I was experiencing.

So a lot of that must be the nonsense I've read about that's going on via the Xbox versions. Eeeesh. Not experiencing that on PC at all, lmao.

welp Joe saying the same thing we were all thinking. Because its fairly obvious once u spend any time with this game that 2042 is a complete abortion of what made this series great. It does everything wrong.

but then u go into the Portal mode, which does damn near everything right. Its night and day.

100% agree. and the TTD! so many times with assault rifle i unload a full clip that doesn't down the guy, and then take 3 rounds and I'm dropped. there's something wrong there.

Agreed the TTK just seems fucking whack and that along with thr deviation, the gunplay just isn't fun - you feel like you have 0 control over whats happening....

Biggest problem with the game is the maps are too damn big. Ironically, the increased player count makes it feel more empty. You have way too many points to focus on, making it feel like there's actually less action a lot of the time. I'd like to see the smaller last gen console maps available with the increased players. Overall just a mess of a game that shouldn't have been released for another 6-12 months.

To be fair, when V was released it was a "complete abortion of what made the series great". The same with 1. The same with 4. And oh man, remember the furor of 3? A mainline Battlefield? On consoles? With half the players? A complete abortion of what made the series great!

idk i started on Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on PS2. then went to 1943, then Bad Company 2 then Battlefield 4. And it all felt like Battlefield to me. 2042 does not. BF1 and BFV kinda felt like battlefield. Just not good ones

I can't speak on it as I haven't played it yet so if you feel that way about the TTK, I can't really debate it tbh lol

I feel TTK is one of those debated things a lot in BF, I personally didn't care for the long time to kill in BF1, but many liked it so...who knows lol I say Portal makes sense for a lot of this and I feel the game is worth the support for that 1 mode to even address lots of this.

We have comments for the TTK, we have comments against the TTK, we have comment debated the ticket count etc, I say let the community decide with those elements on Portal and be done with it. I don't think anything can be done in some of those areas where we all 100% agree with it as personally we will have differences in terms of views and how we play etc.

NeoLed NeoLed Agreed. 99% of the time I can't even tell who is getting laid the fuck out, but anyone and everyone can get this work lol No matter the race, religion, old ladies, bus drivers, disabled people, toddlers IDGAF! If they moving in a game, they GETTING IT! Even the crying over the SP was silly, I never play that fucking mode to give a shit about whats going on there and I don't see anyone person using a video game to teach Billy about WWII before the big test, fuck out of here.

Pretty much, its why most of the BS around 2042 is hard to take seriously. Its become a meme at this point. Every BF was the BF to kill the series or something. Be like "THIS IS THE ONE FOLKS, itz OVAZ". I remember folks even saying this about 2142 and even worse about Bad Company. Not able to go prone, a single player mode etc folks made it sound like the series would die and not looking back BFBC2 is the one they fucking ask for the most lol.

So I just can't take any of that horse shit seriously, I need to play it myself and never waste time on hot takes or neckbeard exaggerations. All communities have something like that were some fucking person like "well thats it folks, FFX KILLED FINAL FANTASY" lol

won't be in a day 1 patch or even in the coming weeks.

Some of that is actually being addressed or confirmed to be fixed next.

90% of my qualms with 2042 are with gameplay/game direction

im getting some slow down. And some glitches. But its not overly glitchy i don't find (on Series X). Especially compared to the beta which was super glitchy.
if Angry joe thinks this is the worst performance at a BF launch, try being me on BF4's launch on PS3 and have some real problems. I couldn't play for at least 2 weeks

Graphically its not very pretty, which is surprising. I almost felt like the beta was better looking. But maybe thats placebo.
I do know that i played Far Cry Primal right after 2042, which is like a 7 year old game, and it looks better.

Also the glitches and frame drops weren't present in Portal mode. I only ran into 1 glitch repeatedly in Portal....and that was the helicopter getting stuck while stationary trapped on a box or something

So some fine chaps on reddit took the time to aggregate feature that are missing from BF 2042 when compared against previous entries.

Core Features

  • No single-player story
  • No Boats
  • No water physics
  • No standard server browser
  • Fewer standardized game modes (Can't even play TDM or smaller scale modes without relying on community servers. Really?)
  • Fewer base game maps than any other title (even including portal the map count is only 13)
  • No persistent lobbies (seriously why do I have to matchmake after EVERY round?)
  • Fewer in-game assignments (none outside of cosmetic unlocks)
  • No class system
  • Less character customization options (than BF5)
  • No profile progress/stats page in the menu
  • No battle log/stats tracker for other players
  • No global leader boards
  • No end of round assignment progress screen
  • No dog tags (they still sort of exist I guess?)
  • No custom emblems
  • Fewer achievements
  • No medals
  • No swelling crescendo of dramatic music near the end of a match (obviously this is the most egregious of the list)
  • Less destruction (only a small handful of destructible buildings on each map)
  • No map altering levolution (There sort of is but the maps are so big, anything that changes doesn't really affect how you play)
  • No cross-game profile screen (BF 4, HL, 1, and V were all linked by a menu if you owned them digitally, was a neat feature.)
  • No spectator mode
  • No permanent community servers (would be useful for clans and events)
Infantry Gameplay
  • Fewer guns (even including all the portal guns, BF4 still had more at launch)
  • Fewer infantry gadgets
  • No manual leaning
  • No diving while swimming
  • No high wall vaulting
  • No crouch sprinting
  • No backwards prone
  • No explosion knockback
  • No rolling after falling from heights
  • No ammo or health pickup off teammates
  • No scope zeroing
  • No thermal optics
  • No indirect fire gadgets
  • Less anti-tank launchers (Come on man only one?)
  • No lock-on launchers (The M5 works with the SOFLAM but that requires 2 people)
  • No AP mines/claymores
  • No static weapon emplacements
  • No fortification building
  • No resupply stations
  • No suppression mechanic (This one I don't mind but I'm including everything)
Vehicles
  • Fewer vehicle types (and separate vehicle progression per faction even though they are functionally identical... why???)
  • No naval vehicles (Except I guess the hovercraft technically)
  • No vehicle gunner direction indicator
  • No lock on direction indicator
  • No vehicle enter/exit animations
  • Less vehicle driver/pilot customization options
  • No tank zoom customization options
  • No tank gunner customization options
  • No heli gunner secondary weapons
  • No separate heli/fixed-wing controls
  • No control input while looking behind/free looking in aircraft (BF1 and V pilots, this one is gonna absolutely suck for you guys)
Scoring System
  • No squad wipe scoring
  • No player damage points
  • No vehicle damage points
  • No vehicle kill assist points
  • No headshot bonus
  • No long-range kill bonus
  • No assist counts as kill bonus
  • No squad objective play bonus
  • Oversimplified teamplay scoring (i.e. healing a teammate always gives you +5xp rather than the amount of health you give)
Squad and Teamwork
  • No commander
  • No special squad call-in abilities
  • No squad field upgrades
  • No in-game VOIP
  • Fewer factions (with almost nothing to give the 2 factions any distinction)
  • No cross-team chat
  • No "create new squad" option
  • No "promote to squad leader" option
  • No clans
  • No view of squadmates while in the spawn screen
  • No "Medic incoming" indicator in downed state
  • No rank names/icons, just a number.
UI and Quality of Life
  • Less control customization options
  • Less UI customization options
  • No HUD/icon opacity customization
  • No HUD scaling customization options
  • No gunsight reticle customization options
  • No network performance graph
  • No individual player scoreboard
  • Less detail in the 'who killed you' screen
  • No ultrawide monitor support
  • Very poor friend joining system
  • No console aim assist (big fat fuck you to console players there, dice)

This game is a soulless husk

Is 'That Pure Potato'
Played BC2 and BF3 via Portal Mode. It really is a different game and feels better to play overall.

Revisiting BC2 actually gave me a sense of sad nostalgia. Overall, the game has never been as good as it was then. Even the community felt more fun loving back then. I remember how jolly everyone was playing the Vietnam DLC.

BF4 was salvageable because the actual framework of the game was amazing. 2042 framework is confused and doesn’t know what it wants to be. I don’t know how I can make it any clearer.

Specialists are shite, maps are terrible, gunplay is shit (but could probably be sorted with a huge overhaul). Most of the games problems come down to maps being bad and the core gameplay being reliant on specialists and solo play. That isn’t salvageable to me unless it has a complete redesign.

Oh and the destruction in this game (the one thing that makes it stand out) is absolutely dreadful and barely exists. They are trying to now sell the game based on these catastrophic random weather events which whilst amazing to look at, doesn’t have the impact that destruction on buildings does. Bad Company 2 was so good because you could force snipers and campers out of their hiding places by blowing shit up.

Let me be clear - If you’re enjoying the game, awesome and all power to you! I have no issue with that.

My issue is with DICE saying ‘we’re ahead of schedule’ and then with the delay saying ‘the games in a great place, just some additional polish to make it better’. Bullshit, the games a mess and again, developers aren’t being honest.
It amazes me how apologetic they are now. How many BF games have we had come out broken and messy? Way too many, yet they keep making excuses and buying the games. No wonder DICE is so arrogant these days. I'm fucking tired of BF releasing buggy and broken and missing features. At least 343 had the sense to delay Infinite a whole year to fix their shit.

Battlefield 2042 Review by Stella Chung on PC. Also available on Xbox and PlayStation.

Battlefield 2042 tries to do a lot, but only some of its experiments are worth celebrating. The 128 player matches of its All-Out Warfare modes definitely feel like too much for their own good a lot of the time, but its more strategic new Hazard Zone mode is incredibly fun. But the fact that the most fun I had with 2042 was playing recreations of its previous games in Portal is a pretty good indication of how ideas like its new Specialist system have missed the mark. For a game claiming to be the future of Battlefield, 2042's impressive Portal options make it clear that it doesn't stack up to the past. Instead, it's those same customization tools that could come to define it in time.

IGN reviewer called BF Portal, 2042's "saving grace"....and they aint wrong. They could ctrl+alt+delete 2042 from existence and just add 10 classic maps to Portal for launch, and it would be worth the price of admission imo. but having only the 6 retro maps is a hard pill to swallow. Admittedly i disliked the 2042 maps so much i didn't test them out in Portal. Maybe they are not so bad with custom options

I was down for this game, I really wanted it, I even defended the awful playtest, the playtest was somehow slightly more fun than the 10 hour Gamepass trial... I guess because all the jank was excusable.

The 10 hour trial really hasn't been rubbing me the right way at all. I played about 3 hours, I'm saving the rest for patch day.

Who knows, maybe the day 1 pass will be AMAZING... but probably not.

I was going to get this day 1 but now it's a "wait for a deep sale" for me, hopefully by boxing day they'll have a sale on it.

Halo Infinite also has issues too, shit I'd say most MP titles have such issues around launch.

Would be like saying some shit like "wow no wonder 343 is so arrogant theses dayz"

omg "missing features"

lol or even Call Of Duty

don't buy anything this year basically with this wild logic lol

So as someone that has played many a Halo game at launch, Battlefield, Call Of Duty etc they actually share lots of issues and I've simply found that you can't have some perfect fucking game at launch with ZERO issue. I've seen no evidence of this even from the god like 'can do no wrong' fisher price King Nintendo. So if no one is coming out with some launch with zero issues, I no longer buy that its just based on some um "arrogant" thing, especially by DICE. If anything EA would fit that narrative much better as the own DICE, the BF IP and control those releases, delays etc I'm not really getting anything thats suggesting this is happening only from 1 team, shit this is happening with MP titles period, as in publisher or team is irrelevant to some of theses issues. Of course some issues can be the fault of the team, but overall the nature of online games is more so dynamic then it ever was finite. No one is coming out with some shit where nothing is missing, no issues are happening etc

. Admittedly i disliked the 2042 maps so much i didn't test them out in Portal. Maybe they are not so bad with custom options

I too want to see what the community does with those maps. I expect this mode to evolve into adding in more rulesets and a future release with a map editor or something.

Have DICE acknowledged the crossplay issue on Xbox and made any indication that it will be fixed at all? (can't turn cross play off without turning it off at a profile level which affects all games).

I'm not really sure. I read about something regarding crossplay being on a list to be fixed, but I don't know if this is what you mean

balls of snow balls of snow because of how big that market is, very likely its either in the second patch.

This is disingenuous as hell. I have played both games and Infinite is VASTLY more polished than 2042. I didn't even mention missing content from BF or Halo so no idea why you even brought that up. I could easily make a list of either game missing content and features (especially Halo), from previous entries but that is not what I was even talking about.

Also, 343 have been arrogant as fuck for a long time. It's about time they humbled themselves and what do you know, fans are really enjoying the game this time.

That's the most spot-on review I've read/watched so far. She pretty much sums things up, though I disagree with her dislike of the elimination of classes. I can go either way, but I find it refreshing how now a player can load themselves out pretty much anyway they want when it comes to the core equipment.

=)

VASTLY more polished than 2042.

We've heard people say that about 2042 with having very little issues, we heard that about Call Of Duty, we heard that about Halo too.....we also have a fucking list of missing features and issues and lots of "this is shit" from basically all 3. You will have a series of users that will make those comments on pretty much all MP titles if they happen to have those issues. Notice how you DIDN'T have those issues on Halo and it was more polished to you, clearly someone can fucking play Halo and have the list of issues I told you and feel that 343 is back to um..."arrogant 343" lol

I simply thing lots of this is simply the nature of online launches. I've yet to see a perfect one and such doom and gloom and this is missing or broke etc is pretty fucking standard at this point. That isn't a DICE thing, that is online game thing lol

but that is not what I was even talking about.

Doesn't really matter. The fact that a list can be made at all of missing features on this game means clearly its not a DICE solely being arrogant type thing. Anyone can make a list of bugs, broken features, missing features of a online MP game at launch, shit it would be harder to find a game that didn't have anything wrong at all at launch da fuck lol

BadBurger BadBurger Agreed. I'm ok with it for this future type of BF, but I'd want to see at least an option in the future titles or updated or patched in this game, but I expect it to be patched later as an option vs the only way to play

I think I've had enough already, I normally play Battlefield on smaller maps without vehicles and now I remember why and it's worse in this game.
Last night the stupid hovercraft was being spammed continuously and just makes the game no fun at all, they need to change how you can deal with them like allowing the launcher to lock on to them like the helicopters.
It just felt like a war of attrition all night and no fun at all.
They need to bring back domination as soon as possible, they can divide the existing maps up like they have on the last gen versions pretty easily.

Ok, you got me there. Didn't remember what I typed, but I still stand by BF being buggy as hell at launch and Infinite being more polished. I'm just tired of it man. Gald I got the 10-hour trial and didn't drop money on it. Infinite will keep me busy until DICE can produce a game of acceptable quality.

Personly, accepting this game as "well that's just the climate of the industry man" is fucking crazy to me. You are literally telling developers that you are ok with fewer and fewer quality games at launch. That's bullshit mate, and Infinite has shown you can release a polished framework of a great online experience. Hell, BF1 was WAY more stable and polished than BF4 at launch. I couldn’t tell you how happy I was with BF1 and how disappointed BFV was.

I will never accept less for more money when DICE and other online games have produced better before.

I see nothing wrong with this as from what you played, that is how its received.

Personly, accepting this game as "well that's just the climate of the industry man" is fucking crazy to me.
Yet one could say the same about you liking Halo right now with the list of those issues sir..., but those issues haven't kept you from liking Halo Infinite
. You are literally telling developers that you are ok with fewer and fewer quality games at launch

You are telling 343 you are ok with those missing features and server issues........ this is a fucking video game, its not a government policy. You like something, play that thing....I see no reason to make it sound like its suddenly some moral stance when you are playing a game with a list of missing features and bugs too, it tells me if you can like Halo, you should fucking get why someone might like BF 2042 if they have had little issues with it as you had little issues with Halo....

I don't fucking see you taking one for the team and not buying Halo in some courageous boycott cause those missing features and I'd never fucking tell you not to buy it cause them btw. That indeed is the nature of putting out an online game, as to why even the very game you are telling me will keep you busy and you will support also has a list of issues and missing features. If even that game doesn't has some perfect launch, what can? How can we even find a target for what either company should seek if such a thing has basically never been done?

Do you not see why I'm saying its the nature of putting out an online game? As someone that has been playing DICEs games at launch for over a decade plus, I only understand those issues and shrug them off cause I also played Halos at launch, Call Of Duty, TF2, Smash Bros, Destiny, Left 4 Dead series (good ass times) and many more, none of them just came with no issues, they all had patches and list made online and people making it sound like the sky was falling.

The only way we can even settle this would be if Star Citizen released PEFRECT lmfao! Like zero issue, just 100% fixed, they had 11 years (likely more as I don't see that shit coming next year just working) so if it releases with zero issues then sure such a thing is true with online games, but I just don't see that happening. You can debate a company doing better and I don't disagree with you as you have a solid case, but I don't think any of us can argue something is unique about this situation in general to say that about DICE as one can just say that about 343 in turn.
