Jim Ryan criticizes Activision's response to harrassment allegations.

Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation chief Jim Ryan criticized Activision Blizzard Inc. Wednesday for the game publisher’s inadequate response to an explosive news article alleging that Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick was aware of sexual misconduct and harassment allegations for years and that he had also mistreated women.

In an email to employees reviewed by Bloomberg, Ryan linked to the Wall Street Journal’s Tuesday report. He wrote that he and his leadership were “disheartened and frankly stunned to read” that Activision “has not done enough to address a deep-seated culture of discrimination and harassment.”

Good to see the industry execs not sitting back. I know Phil Spencer is usually outspoken about this stuff, but good to see Jimbo do the same. Though I would like to see them do more than just talk the talk. They took Cyberpunk off the store page, maybe it's time do it for CoD. Even if its just for a weekend, it sends a message.

I'm surprised the board is sticking by Kotick. He's hanging on by a thread right now, and a few statements like these from big partner corporations might just push it over the edge. I figured he'd be ousted almost immediately.

Sounds like the email was also leaked. So people are trying to take him down, which is fine with me.

But his support is waning. A small group of Activision Blizzard shareholders, accounting for less than 1% of the outstanding stock, said it called for Kotick’s resignation on Wednesday in a letter to the company’s board.
Schreier and his hyperbole. His support is waning? More than 99% of shareholders still seem to support him. Approval ratings don't get much higher than that.

Yeah the surest way to have an email “leak” is to send it to everyone, which tells me he sent no company wide emails about the problems in his own house.
I mean, that's an assumption you can make. But also Activision has a fairly prominent bullseye on it these days, in terms of public lawsuits from the state, controversy at Blizzard, etc. They're kind of enemy #1 at the moment, so the motivation for a leaker to act on it might be different from acting on Insomniac. It's just all speculation really.

It's cool but asking to pull CoD from the storefront is too woke for me.

Let's be fair and not be like everyone who likes to just cancel everything like there isn't people's jobs riding on this.

This kind or stuff needs to be cut off when the iron is hot. And it's so hard in a culture of flirting and everyone wanting a piece of action.

Why do you care about what nameless corpo executive writes to staff? They took Cyberpunk out since CDPR threw them under a bus.

Didn't you guys work a single day in your lives?

Are they going to take CoD off the store in protest? No?

This.

Perfect message to send. Hit them in the pockets. There will be a response from them.

Over on Resetera, we've got all the dismissive 'actions speak louder than words', 'just a business decision' etc crap from the usual suspects. I guarantee you, the same people would be gargling Daddy Phil's balls right now if this was Xbox instead of PlayStation.

I think this is a great move from Sony and puts a lot of pressure on Activision to remove Kotick.
