Ah shit, Game Pass gots Age of Empires IV. Installing now, gonna crack a beer. Wasn't planning on drinking this here Sunday night, but a new AoE after all these years deserves a few pints.

What was the install size out of interest? Read on here upwards of 200 gig?

Dicey Dungeons is coming to Gamepass Thursday. Roguelike deck builder similar to Slay The Spire. Highly recommend it.

Forgotten City is a wild game. I'm only 2 hours in but it's easily becoming a top 3 game for me this year. Whatever you do, just go in blind and enjoy.

That's high praise. I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I suppose this is what they meant by "Orange"

Wait, Game Pass has the new Forza? How am I an active member of GAF and I somehow missed this? I need to lay off the gummies, and also downloading pronto.

I don’t think Dicey Dungeons was announced before? I played it on Switch already, it’s good but not mind-blowing, fun for the first playthroughs but lacking some variety.

We always ask how gamepass makes its money. I did some digging to find the answer to this, and I found this Amazon piece news. According to this article, Amazon reinvesting any money it makes to the its business.

Same thing for MS. MS always reinvesting its money back to gamepass. Its why we don't see these numbers. Because whatever gamepass makes, it goes to the cost of the new games, that is being added to the service.

"Amazon intentionally posts low profits because it takes the vast majority of the money it earns and invests it right back into the company so that it will profit all the more in the future. Its business model, once reviled on Wall Street, has spurred numerous other companies like Uber and WeWork to emulate Amazon and forgo profits for the sake of growth — though many of these companies haven’t really proved that they could ever be profitable."

"Think of revenue as Amazon’s cut of third-party sales or the total of your Amazon shopping cart, if you’re purchasing Amazon products. This includes sales of products and services, including when Amazon ships goods for third parties. Amazon collects that money but doesn’t keep most of it."

This debate is pointless, obviously the company has a roadmap of how long it will take for the service to become profitable, nobody here has seen that so their opinion is irrelevant.
It comes down to more than just Gamepass subscriptions though, how many subscribers purchased the Forza Horizon 5 add on bundle? Quite a few looking at the leaderboards before the full launch, that in itself was worth millions.
With the offers on the dashboard it's plain to see they are still in the growth stage and since they allow up to three years of discounted subscription they will be in that stage for a long while yet, eventually people will be faced with the choice of resubscribing to a service where there is a huge amount of first party content and have to decide is that worth full price, with all the studios MS now have the answer is obvious that it will be.

A more simple point of comparison would be Netflix.

WTF is this thread?
Netflix doesnt have a buy in movie. Its more close to amazon shopping.

In term of gamepass, that is mtx, dlc and game sales.

You need to add the mtx. Having those games act like free, will make people spend money on dlc, and mtx. Forza5 gamepass users might not spend money buying the game, but they will buy car packs, since the game is somewhat free to them.

Quite well rated on Steam. Might scratch a tactical rpg itch

Phoenix whatever is a decent lower budget XCOM too. Tactics games are pretty cheap to make I guess.

Seriously, anyone that enjoys exploration and a good mystery will love this game. It is just wonderful.

It's mechanically janky (sometimes to the point of being a real problem) and has some issues that I won't get into because of spoilers, but it is beautiful and obviously made with great love.

A brilliant game, truly.

I’ve had my doubts about GamePass and the MS eco-system as a whole in the past, but consider me a convert in 2021.

I tried to give XBox a try last gen, but found the One a lacklustre console with nothing to keep me coming back after I’d finished Rise Of The Tomb Raider. I sold it soon after completing the game.

But this year I picked up a decent gaming PC, and GamePass has well and truly got its claws into me. To the extent that I’ll probably also buy a Series X to sit next to my Ps5 at some point.

I‘d definitely say I’ve lost whatever preference I may have had in the past to Sony (bought every PS at launch) and am now 100% agnostic across both ecosystems. All equal to me at this stage. All due to what GamePass offers, and the value it brings.

It's very nice having GPU work across your PC, xsx, and streaming. It just works and synchronizes so nicely.

PC for PC games and multiplayer games with friends. XSX for the big game like Forza and Halo. Streaming for rewards quests, or mobile stuff on the go, or just wanting to save storage. Saves a ton of money and makes playing games with other friends with GP super easy

The save management between local and cloud is something that just works. That they implemented that so cleanly was really impressive to me.

Plenty of things about the service on the PC side to critique, but I've been really impressed by all the improvements over the last 6-12 months. Once mod support becomes more robust, man....

About time Zod.

Been trying Haven since it's leaving GP soon. It's got flaws, but I'm kinda into it. I've only seen 1 game even attempt to include romance in the actual gameplay mechanics design, and that was Prince of Persia (2008). This game seems like an anime, low budget version of that. Cheesy, but kind of refreshing to see a game attempt to include an actual couple, instead of just some teenage first kiss nonsense, and then end the story. The whole game is about a couple working together through a sci-fi adventure (with pretty basic gameplay, but still not bad honestly).

Thank God for xcloud on console now. Doing Game Pass Quests is going to consume a ton less bandwidth now.

No kidding. Just knocked out that "Gang Beasts" quest without even having to the "download, install, play, delete" routine.

Great Success Win GIF

Mortal Shell is such a huge letdown, it’s supposed to be a Souls like but it lacks everything that makes those games interesting. I’m trying to give it a chance but it’s so ugly and sloppy. Only good thing is I would have eventually bought it at some point and now I feel like I saved money.

It just looks so fucking slow.

Think I might be missing out by not playing Unsighted, I will hopefully give it a try this week.
The time mechanic is a little annoying, but the feel of the combat is pretty awesome. I played it a bit and was pleased. Need to go back to it. Slashing with the sword and counters feel great.

question. So i just gameshared for first time with my friend. Afaik, my gamepass IS working on his Xbox.
But he said he wasn't able to use the Cloud feature. When he clicks a game on GamePass it queues for download. Where on mine i get the screen that shows Install or Play via cloud option.

Has he manually done a update of the system? I am not 100% sure that it has rolled out to everyone in the general os build but it should have been complete by now.

Glad I didn't pull the trigger during Black Friday. It feels like every other week I'm removing something from my PSN Wishlist because it gets announced for Game Pass.
