GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE — Final Trailer "Hey, have you missed us?"

I do, it's not Ghostbusters without the original cast being front and center in my opinion. Wouldn't be surprised if you loved GB 2016 either.

dunno about that really it’s been over 30 years. I think they did it perfectly in this movie.

Obviously no where as good as the original but it's better than Ghostbusters 2.

Not gonna lie the remixed theme and the whole trailer in general slaps for me nowadays:

"The power of Patti compels you!"

Trailer makes me want to watch it again. I'll probably watch all 3 GB movies before Afterlife when it releases IN FRICKIN JANUARY in Australia.

I adored Afterlife. After the insulting disappointment that was the “reboot”, this was a strong return to form. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. A love letter to lifelong fans and a great entry point to get new people into the series.

Again, this is what The Force Awakens should've been. Literally everything JJ Abrams did wrong in that movie Reitman did correct here. Respected the legacy of the franchise and characters, absolutely no stupid "mystery box" about Phoebe's lineage, and he gave people what many wanted to see with the legacy characters in The Force Awakens.

I was so happy with the end result of this movie and its easily(to me) a good second to the original film.

All of the younger cast was outstanding and centering the plot around what it does made a lot of sense.

Yes, it's heavy on nostalgia, but it's tastefully done for true fans. I really hope it gets a sequel, because I'd like to see where it can go.

If it does not, there really couldn't be a better conclusion for the series. Also,

The finale with Egon is so very well done. It didn't feel fake(or forced) and I thought the OGs really did feel the pangs of sorrow that he wasn't there to see it made, especially Murray himself. You can tell he really tried with his role here(though small), perhaps as a cathartic way to put the tumultuous past between he and Ramis behind him.

This was the first movie in a long time where he didn't sound bored or asleep.

So some of the mental patients who are trying to attack this movie because they liked the 2016 festering boil are calling the ending "ghoulish".

Well both Ramis' widow and daughter gave it their blessing and Reitman wouldn't have even done it if they said no:

“My father was the first person to read the script of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and then I gave it to Erica Ramis (Harold’s widow). I gave it to her kids. I gave it to Violet Ramis (Harold’s daughter) who I grew up with on the set of Ghostbusters. I wasn’t going to make it unless they were on board.”

If I loved Ghostbusters 1 & 2 and sat there and watched Ghostbusters (2016) like I was watching someone who just burned down the house..my family house that my great great great great grandfather built and was pissing on the ashes..
Would I enjoy this one?

Yes like others have said it’s better then part 2, so if you liked 1 and 2 this one will be a pleasure.

It's a cool tribute to Harold/Egon and a nice Ghostbusters 3. Phoebe was great.
I didn't like a few things in the third act. But overall it's a good movie. Way better than GB2016.

But I hope they don't try to make a franchise out of it.

Cool, just pre-order the 4K Steelbook!

although I'm a bit disappointed from what I've heard about Paul Rudd.
Was hoping he would become a Ghostbuster.
Seems perfect for it.

Of course they are. What did you think the second credit scene was setting up?

The game(2009/2019) seems to be pretty good continuation of GB1/2.

This is better.

And the game is non-canon based on this.

Ray explaining what happened to the Ghostbusters and the appearance of Ivo Shandor in the movie de-canonize the game.

The game repurposed most of the Ghostbusters: Hellbent script. Then when it was a success Columbia asked Akyroyd and Ramis to start working on a third movie. So while people were pretending that the game was GB3 they were writing the real GB3.

Shoot there was a second one? Could you let me know what it involved?

It starts with a deleted scene from the first movie where Janine gives Egon one of her World's Fair coins when they're leaving city hall. She tells him she has another at home, and then you see her holding it in present day in Winston's office talking to him. He tells her how he started his company with one person but is now a world-wide empire (because the GB's taught him he had the tools and the talent), and she asks him if he's still paying Ray's shop rent (he is), and he tells her despite all his success he'll always be a Ghostbuster. He then drives the Ecto-1 back into the firehouse (alluding that he's re-opening it) and you see the red light on the containment unit start to blink.

You forgot the final bit..

the containment light blinks get faster, you see a toaster rattling until it falls off the table, then it cuts to the busted containment unit, something has escaped. You then see this hideous big fleshy monster step out of the smoke, then Melissa McCarthy says "Did you miss me"

10/10 for me. The OG is my favorite film of all time and you could just feel the love for it in every frame of the film. From the score to the sound effects to the easter eggs to the visual effects to...fucking everything, it was perfect. Egon was everywhere throughout the film, the way the worked him into various scenes was wonderful. And McKenna Grace was the perfect choice to carry on Egon's legacy. I absolutely fucking loved every second of it. Wow.

Jeez did he look directly into the camera and smile and wink when he proclaimed all of that to her?

It's doing better than expected.

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is beating its $30M-$35M industry expectations, with an expected $40.5M opening weekend after a $16.5M Friday, which includes Thursday previews. Of that figure, PLF screens and Imax are driving 35% of the gross for the Sony movie

You mean to tell me that, though heavy in fan service(which is what a classic revival like this should have), this is *exactly* what people wanted for 30 years?? Who knew!?

Critics are so maddeningly stupid. It's funny that the angriest critics at its success are the ones who were butthurt that 2016GB was a big old flop.

It was a *flop* because you can't take a film franchise like Ghostbusters and just IGNORE the previous films.

Not because they were all women, none of that crap. They are all quite talented and funny, that wasn't the problem. They ignored the originals and paid a dear price.

With half the budget of 2016 chances are high it will be profitable and we get a sequel.

Yeah, budget was supposedly $75M and it looks like strong audience turnout and word of mouth will push it to a $40M+ opening weekend.

Covid is still affecting moviegoers. If that wasn't a factor, it probably would've hit 50-60M on opening weekend.

Thanksgiving week/weekend will probably be strong, so I'd say it'll be a success for sure.

Just got back from it, LOVE IT. The 3rd act had some weird editing to it, like they chopped some scenes last second and had to have some jarring cuts, but that ending was absolutely perfect

Fantastic movie, easily better than both 2016 and even GB2 to me. I kind of wanted a longer third act but honestly, that would have been overloading on nostalgia at that point. I thought they used just the right amount for the tale they were trying to tell.

My only major gripe is that Podcast was a little annoying but I did like how he and Phoebe interacted. It's great seeing two slightly eccentric kids having a bit of fun.
