IMO I think they’re not deadly enough.

They are a strategic part of the game. A well placed grenade will either instantly take out the shield of an opponent or it will be the killing blow if their shield is already down.

Having a piece of standard equipment be able to one shot kill an opponent would ruin the balance and flow of the game.
 
It works out great for these companies and for PC players because it's the trendy thing now and it makes racking up that k/d easier for one group. There is little upside for controller users. Even with the best auto aim controller is no match for the 1:1 input and quick movement of a m+k.
Well, FPS has always played better on PC unless consoles had heavy auto aim. You just can't beat high Dpi mouse. Without auto aim, gamepad controls are comparable at most to 400-500 dpi mouse, while modern mice had 20k+ DPI.

Too many grenades flying all over the place all the time in the beta, any game mode. My friends and I have been seriously doing Halo since the original. One friend is currently high Diamond in infinite and competed in MLG for 2 and 3. Nothing frustrates him (and us) more than the "Call of Grenade" scenarios that are ever present.

I only mention our collective experience to denote we're not new to Halo or generally scrubs.

We've been suggesting fixes amongst ourselves. "Everyone only starts with 1 grenade", "grenade blast radius reduced", "grenades are usable on a separate timer independent of whether or not you've respawned".

Is it just me or did they make Sprint faster than it was during the flights? I played the open flight and I could hardly tell the difference between walking speed and sprinting speed, but to me it looks like they made sprinting a little bit faster as it should. I did get on Twitter and complain to Bonnie Ross directly, I told her I can't tell a difference between walking and running I told her to make Sprint faster, this isn't 2004 Halo 2 it's the 2020s and every game has fast Sprint now.

Strongly disagree. After years of everyone shrieking that Halo was ‘dead’ and the fanbase had moved on, launching F2P was a surefire way of getting a large player base, and then keeping them hooked with the gameplay. And it’s worked. There’s more PC concurrents on Infinite than Battlefield 2042.

there’s no evidence that it’s ‘gone crazy with microtransactions’.

Imagine buying and playing Doom and Doom Eternal for $60 for essentially Single player alone, but drawing the line at a massive Halo campaign for $60.
I don't understand what you're trying to argue here. I'm over it as 343 just doesn't seem to get it, but I'll waste my time to list a few things.

-no 1-50 yet again.
-no base exp progression system like the other games. But, oh thanks for the 50xp whether I win or lose... Doesn't even incentivize the slightest bit trying to win.
-challenges that direct people away from the goal of winning/team play toward stupid unrelated tasks. One big reason ranked is garbage.
-bad ban system again. Why did this never seem to come up as a problem when I played Bungie's games? 343 trying to implement a solution for something that wasn't a big problem to begin with.

-scope glint on BR's? dafuq. 343 loves making Halo less competitive. Even the sniper glint should be removed. Was the bullet trail not a good enough mechanic?

Now I have to play random gametypes in ranked, why? I can't play just Slayer, FFA, Team Snipers, Swat, Doubles, etc. Also, they still gonna forget about Invasion? They wanted their stupid monetized gametype warzone to replace Invasion but it was a bust.
-no player collision. Antithetical to Halo's core gameplay and creative fun. Should be in the game no matter what.
-no friendly fire. Again, part of what makes Halo's gameplay flow the way it does is having friendly fire. You have to engage in a smart manner to be successful. This should be standard in every mode.
-maps suck. Per usual 343 can't make good maps that flow well
-random power weapon spawns. This is garbage and Halo is about weapon control and getting good at it. BTB really suffers because of it.
-player outlines shouldn't be there. There was nothing wrong with the red v blue and shield lighting up and popping as a system. Needless change that is worse than the original system.
-customization completely locked behind pay walls. First free helmet you can unlock is at level 81. Personally I don't care about customization, but it was a core feature stripped for monetization, just like MP was.

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now.

How can you say F2P is a "step in the right direction." That's only the case if you're a suit raking in the bonuses. Keep supporting this crap if you want the whole AAA industry to turn into the mobile market.

Oh, but the MP is free you see? Only if you're too dumb to realize they made this change entirely to swindle the player. Experience gain is a snails pace even compared to other F2P games. Take MP out of the normal package and monetize the shit out of it so you can make even more money at the expense of the player and the game's integrity. They even marketed "be your own spartan" expect that's only possible if you pay since everything is behind a paywall now. Man, that really is a "player first" focus.

Not to mention how stripped down the game is just so they can drip feed content over years. The game should have shipped as a full package as it has in the past. There's no excuse for releasing sequels with far less content (just like 2042 did) especially with a long delay. The progression systems in-game and all customization have been made worse for the sake of piñata-ing customers. The game is worse off for it and certainly won't last 10 years as planned the way it is.

That's definitely the smarter route. I've had enough discussions about 343's poor decisions in the past. Best to just ignore it and save my energy.

CPU usage at 30% ... something weird is going on with this game



this runs worse than on my 3060ti... there sure seems to be something wrong here.
but why does it run better for me? like, I get the framerates he is getting at 1080p but at 1440p...

I since locked my framerate to 72fps (half refresh) because I never dip below that and I want a consistent framerate across all modes (big team runs at around 80fps and 4v4 at 130 to 144fps) so that my aim is consistent.

I feel like I don’t get nearly as many kills from the grave as I used to.
I don’t know if they’re bouncing too much or what.

grenades feel a bit less controllable in close range for sure. I think it's a combination of a more straightened throwing arch and more bounce

I’ve put in almost around 20 hours in MP, I’m Diamond 4. These are the issues I think the game has rn

- shit progression and customization, should have done it more like reach
- average ass UI
- no join after disconnect for ranked games
- no spectate friends
- joining and cancelling find a match is buggy
- some weapons could use a buff, commando pulse rifle mainly
- vehicles are way too floaty and light, too easy to tip over which is weird cuz the first beta they seemed impossible to flip over
- NEED MORE PLAYLISTS AND GAME MODES
- collision system needs to be improved especially with melee
- BTB vehicle system needs to be improved and vehicles buffed

If they keep a constant stream of updates and fixes the game has a bright future

oh and Aquarius is the best map in the game rn, if it’s visuals were better it would be an instant classic

Games can work around it. H5 had an update that made it so that you’d just get booted to the main menu and be able to quickly get back in, it worked seamlessly and was faster than a restart.

it is funny tho that there are literally Xbox One and 360 back compat games that handle online connections when using Quick Resume better than modern titles that are supposed to be developed with it in mind... fucking wild
 
I gotta say. I was pretty skeptical 343 was capable of this. But this is the most fun I have had in an mp shooter since the halo 2 days. Really impressive how they did this… gotta give props. Much better than my experiences with COD and Fortnite.

I don’t really understand the obsession with progression and customization because I never paid attention to that stuff. But they should fix all of it quickly so people stay on board, Missed playing halo.

Also add the ability to choose what type of match you wanna play and add back in swat and add in more maps.

yeah I know that, but I have seen rumors that that Samurai skin from that older trailer which they said will be a free unlock is actually now not free anymore but instead a 10 to 20€ store item...

I don't know if that's made up or what, but I am cautious before I get hyped for this

This is like the first halo since 2 that I actually enjoy playing other 4v4 game types besides slayer. But they do need to add more slayer in the mix or make it have its own playlist.

They aren’t just tracking wins and losses in placement anymore. That’s a good thing, getting a few matches were you’re ranked with far worse teammates shouldn’t rank you’re starting rank. I went like 3-7 and got plat 4, which is a bit lower than I’d like but not that bad. First match in that band I went 20-10 and won a game down a player lol.

I think they got nades perfect here. I love that hallway madness of dodging 50 grenades. The radius does seem smaller in this.

I do have to say those electric grenades seem pretty useless so far it I’m not using them right

I've never played Halo before and maybe its good that I don't have a reference point from any previous Halo games, but I do come from a strong FPS background and I am having a blast with this one.

The fundamentals are very good in my opinion, the fluffy stuff can be taken care of with updates or whatever.

This was such a great weak for pro halo. The first event went incredibly, with the brand new optic winning, in the first event under that name in a quite a while, and seeing Snipedown very suddenly abandon his spot very high in the apex scene to join Halo shows how much potential this has.

but on another note... is it the spectator cam being laggy or do many of them have REALLY shitty aim even tho they play on what seems like sensitivity set to 2. there were moments where I was just like "WTF ARE YOU AIMING AT? HE IS HALF A METER TO THE LEFT!"

Completing an event challenge will reward an item from that event AND battle pass experience.

Completing a non-event challenge won't unlock anything for the event.

Given the state of the current challenges, I'm expecting these event challenges - which have rewards and XP tied to them - to be even more egregious than the ones currently blighting the progression system.

343i need to abandon the challenge system entirely.

No there's going to be a free event running basically all the time. This weeks was the free 20th anniversary stuff, but that had no challenges it was just given for free. It's basically another Battlepass, but free and only like 20 or 30 tiers, and all progress you put into it goes onto the normal one as well.

That's halo, for better or worse. Halo has always had grenades flying all over the place all the time. I'm not having any trouble with them, either dying or getting kills.

Games can work around it. H5 had an update that made it so that you’d just get booted to the main menu and be able to quickly get back in, it worked seamlessly and was faster than a restart.
Most that I've played do this too, not sure what these people are talking about. PUBG gives you a server connection error message when you resume it, you press A and it takes you back to the main menu.

Good call on locking your framerate. I just trust the VRR to do it's job, but not sure how much it effects my aim.. it doesn't seem to be a handicap thus far.

Performance wise I have no idea what's going on with this engine.. its definitely different from anything else I've dealt with. I think there is a lot to come in terms of optimization on PC. One thing I am noticing, same with forza I guess, is that the difference in quality between low and high is rather negligible.
