Halo Infinite full day-and-night cycle with dynamic lighting, shadows and ambience.

Lots of great details in there, I’m currently missing up Skyrim to the extreme and doing Timelapse’s of all the enb/weather mods, on a macro level it looks super similar.

Cool something a 20 year old game on PS2 had. GTA 3.

Yeah right? Awesome that at this day and age, every game in existence has day and night cycles!... oh wait..
Your statement is such a low effort bait post. The only thing that this day and night cycle has in common, tech wise, as the GTA3 one, might be duration of said cycle, that's probably it.

Love the system, only thing that slightly bothers me, but that was a point I always had even with WoW already, is that in most games, the "night" time seems way too bright IMHO, but that's coming from me who lives in a area where a clear sky is like a miracle so I'm not used to nights being this bright.

Just ignore and report, when they get enough reports mods take action.

Quite ironic that someone who promotes mass report spamming gets banned themselves.

Anyway on topic, it looks nice enough without being hugely impressive. I've played a decent amount of the multiplayer over the last week and I'd say that the graphics are good enough to get the job done without being outstanding in any way. But it's not the graphics that keep drawing me back in, the gameplay is stellar.

Skill up's take on the campaign was quite mixed based on his preview so I'll need to see more things going on to be interested there. I'll probably end up buying it at some point to show my support because of the multiplayer side but it's unlikely to be day one based on what I've seen so far.

Wasn’t everybody else but skill up super positive on the campaign? And skill up was still fairly positive. I dunno considering the multiplayer I think the campaign is gonna be rad

Only negative previews are important. Those are the ones I listen to, everything else I dismiss.

Does anyone know if day night cycle has implications on gameplay?
Idk where to find the quote but I distinctly remember a mention of how enemy camps change through the day.

something about sleeping enemies and different patrols and positions

halo has always had sleeping grunts etc so it will be cool, but I don’t expect anything radical

He's been alot more cautious in his previews where he doesn't have access to the full game since his cyberpunk one.

Breathtaking? I guess it's his video so he has to try to hype it any way he can lol people are so overly dramatic these days. It looks fine, not amazing and not bad either but I mean look at RDR2 in comparison, I think it looks significantly better and it has weather as well not just day/night. Also I did kind of laugh a little watching the Halo infinite timelapse and seeing those two little character models keep going back and forth in the same spot all day and night. It happens in all games that's not a knock on Halo Infinite but after some of the claims being made by someone here about how advanced the AI etc it just cracked me up a little.

It looks ok, but the clouds look kind of weird.
Also I wish there was more life in the world and it felt more dynamic.
Like you look at the bottom of that path and there are just two elites or whatever walking back and forth a couple feet forever. Are there no patrols or anything in this game?

Halo Infinite has very good combat AI, its a FPS remember not an RPG with a simulated game world.

Yeah but that means it should look better not worse lol. It looks fine I'm not trashing it but saying "breathtaking" is ridiculous. RDR2 has all kinds of world simulation going on than Halo does not, a lot more things going on under the hood and it still manages to look better. It also has a first person view and a 3rd person which means it needs to show the detail of the player model too which Halo does not unless you are in a vehicle.

I dunno it looks awesome to me albeit stylized, like botw. I guess I look for different things from FPS games vs others. The ship in the sky restocking and leaving is sick

So just to clarify, Halo doesn’t need to show a detailed player model unless it does?

Got ya. Glad that one was cleared up early.

Cycle looks like a day/night cycle. Something new for the game, so all good. Some nice dynamic weather effects would be welcome. It’s not Halo unless there is rain and snow.

Can't peoples also find Halo infinite's time-lapse amazing AND also probably everyone on fucking planet earth acknowledge that RDR2 has amazing visuals?

I'm not bashing the game at all but if you dropped the resolution and told me this was a 10+ year old PC game I would not question it.

I really like the art style but theres nothing here that impresses me on a technical level.

Anyone who finds this impressive probably hasn`t played a proper open world game on last gen systems.......

It´s ok. Not next gen, not great, but ok.

Has there been any footage of the campaign running on base XB1? I'm assuming they're using a forward rendering engine so they don't need as much memory for a 1080p framebuffer?

Looks great. I was going to purchase a series S to play this on, but there is no way I can do that after seeing this. I'd have major FOMO knowing I could be getting a better visual experience. I'm waiting for the series X. Don't care how long it takes

There will be drops this Black Friday but I’m assuming you are not in the USA?

Nice!

Does this halo installation orbit a sun? IIRC the other ones we've seen orbit planets, which would make their day/night cycle rather strange.
Those planets also may orbit stars(Sun) so they may get the same light than a planet, so if the spin is similar to earth, then the cycle would also be similarActyally I think that the rings are between the planet and the star at a particular balance point (forgot the name, something like a Lagrange point, where gravity from star and planet balance out)

It would have to, to get sunlight.
Maybe other halos had artificial light?

Its artificial for Zeta Halo only.
The older halo installations had artificial sunlight that lights and dims from the Halo's atmosphere to create an artificial illusion of day and night. Installation 07 or Zeta Halo is the only surviving installation from the original array, its diameter was reduced to 10,000 km like the newer arrays from 30,000 km after most of its superstructure was discarded due to heavy damage. The "sunlight" is artificial and the wildlife and forest was artificially seeded.
The sunlight in Alpha Halo(Halo CE) directly came from the sun in Soell system as it orbited the gas giant Threshold. Halo CE had real nights.

No I came in here and watched a video that was called "breath taking" by the narrator which it is not, it's nice looking but very average.

He had to narrate because 343i gave these previews with the condition that they don't upload any clips from the game without narrating something on top of it.

Game looks as good as Skyrim, i mean, it looks like ass.
The multiplayer is pretty fun and free tho, that will surely keep the game around for a couple of years at least.

The direction of the wind seems wrong. If you look at the Halo it is moving in one direction but a the record place it seems to be moving perpendicular to that direction which is a bit distracting.

even if this were correct, you think you play the game in Timelapse?

Last gen, multiplat, and STILL this gorgeous.

The lighting system in RDR2 is phenomenal.

Am I the only one around here that doesn't think this looks very impressive? It looks pretty basic to me.
Judging by the other replies in this thread, including the one right above yours, no, you are not the only one.

It looks fantastic to me, I may add.

Its a nice addition, but it rings a little hollow since stuff like weather and other biomes are still so far out …(after a year delay smh)

it looks great, but the people saying it's breathtaking are cringe worthy. Some of the serious fanboys over hype small things. I recall people overhyping games like "Godfall" or "Recore" and both turned out to be nothing burgers.
