I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Score 10/10

+ solid gameplay
+ not another f2p battle royale game
+ not pay 2 win

- poor monetization
- bugs like infinite waiting for other players
- too little content, needs more maps

It's the best new multiplayer title/sandbox for like 5 years. The balance of the equipment is god tier. When you think how shit equipment was in h3/reach etc. You NEVER see default settings in games like this be balanced for competitive play out the box. But Ranked is legit.

As an esport I'm highly optimistic and having been following that halo scene since halo 2 mlg days. I never thought I'd feel like this again about a halo multiplayer since Reach came along and ruined everything.

They will add a BR mode or something like warzone (the H5 warzone not cod warzone). They will fix the micro transaction issues. Halo infinite will be around a long time.

Gameplay is great and maps so far are good. They just need to fix the battle pass which they are working on and is relatively easy to fix and add more guns and vehicles to the sandbox (which they will do over time).

I think the score will heavily depend on if you review the Game or the Product.

As a game its a solid and comfortable 9.

As a Product its substantially worse around a 7.

This is of course for the multiplayer only, the Single player seems to be shaping up well as a Ubisoft lite style game.

Pro's
+Solid gunplay for most weapons.

+Intresting solution to make "armour powers" essentially a pick up, works well

+Map design and layout is generally good, with a few stand outs like Streets and Aqua.

Con's
-Challange system is garbage actively rewards counter team play in objective based modes.

-Progression system again is terrible, stupid stuff like splitting off left and right shoulders, filling the free pass with Challange swaps uhhhhhhh....

-No option to select match type, sometimes I just want to play BTB CTF and nothing else but I load up the stupid battery game mode 5x in a row and just log off for the night.

343 nailed the core gameplay n finally gave us some great maps.

But amount of content, game-modes n customization when it comes to playing the mode you like after 6 fucking years of dev time is unacceptable.

7/10 as of now

nailed core gameplay, need some more variety of modes and maps before it gets stale

battlepass/progression I don't mind, purchased the base one at 10$, I'm on level 27 right now, don't feel the urge to spend other money on it or to feel offended/concerned about it

I gave it a 7, its a good game.

As a virgin Halo mutiplayer player, I had my fun time with it but i went back to Apex. Nothing seems to quench my shooter thirst as Apex does. The gunplay and tension is palpable. Halo oftentimes felt like cod type frantic shooter (ranked mode).

+ Solid movement/gunplay.
+ Map design compliments its gunplay.
+ Feels like a finished product.

- Frantic at times.
- You have to be switched on constantly so mental fatigue creeps in after few rounds.
- Need more dynamism other than just being good with shots and ganking up to wipe others out.

Anyone giving a 10/10 needs their fanboy boner checked with all the negative talking points.

it’s great gameplay wise, but there are a lot of issues. 7.5/10

If custom play lists were a thing, and better progression with better weapon balance this would be close to a 10.
Even if progression system was not there, issues with maps and modes for custom playlists makes it less enjoyable.

I think if they make a lot of those game CHANGES it will be great.

Score: 9.5 / 10

Gameplay is absolutely solid and polished
Great Sandbox Tools
Maps are solid and fun

Its the best shooter to of released for a very long time in terms of its fun factor and polish, cant wait to see what more they add.

Negatives would be the progression system.

They did say when the game releases on the 8th we will get more playlists etc so not too worried about that for now as I'm mostly playing Ranked / Fiesta.

+Feels great
+Looks great, very little visual noise to obscure what's happening
+Matches are quick with little downtime between deaths

-A few crappy (in multiplayer) fringe weapons that take up valuable weapon spawn real estate
-Little map variety
-Everybody turns into a damn hopping frog when engaged

Very little map variety atm, and a disgusting amount of aim assist for controller users. Might have to plug in a controller instead of KB/M on PC.

+core gameplay is great
+good sound design
+Not sure on a third. Feels like Halo?

-progression/event system implementation/monetisation
-general lack of content
-many of the guns still feel like they could use some balancing. Some of the guns just feel straight up worse than your starting weapons. Most covenant weapons seem inferior to human weapons.

+classic halo gameplay
+Runs great on pc (probably because it is not exactly a looker)
+It's free so even a non-multyplayer nut like me is encouraged to try\play the game.

-lack of maps\no old maps? I played like 10 hours and i feel like i repetead the same 2-3 maps ad nauseam, i want ALL the old classic since halo 2, no reason to not have a gigantic library of maps after 284473848 halo games.

-lack of customizable lists, let me play what i want and not a constant russian roulette every time i start a match.

-put a fucking normal resolution slider\menu like EVERY normal game on pc so i don't have to change my resolution before starting the game.

Core gameplay is great but the whole thing feels like a demo at best.

Excellent gameplay, like it's 2004 again (I was more of an UT/Tribes kind of guy, but it's straight up made from the same kinda cloth). And guess what, it reminded me that early 00s gameplay is still fun AF, and that I missed it.
Deathmatch and CTF are classics, and you would think old modes like that wouldn't hold up. But actually, to my surprise, it holds up muuuuuch better than modern game modes. It's just fun, offers a lot of variety in playstyles, and it goes fast without any dead air.

Some zoomers are crying about progression systems... Man, back in my day there was no progression system, you just played the games because it was fun to play, and we barely had any customization either. Crazy uh...

Halo Infinite is everything I didn't know I wanted in a shooter right now. Back to the roots of the genre and doing it amazingly well. All it needs is more maps.

The gameplay is pure perfection. It has some minor flaws, but the gameplay easily offsets this.

Total agree on what your said about the progression system! Millions of people played Halo everyday for the fun of the game not to unlock the cosmetics.

9 out of 10 based on "beta":

+ Tightest playing Halo ever made
+ Free to play and not pay to win
+ World class production value from graphics to music and presentation

- Only few maps with not enough variety (especially in BTB)
- No mode specific playlists
- I personally don't care but monetization scheme might bother some

If they add more maps, modes and playlist it's going to reach the masterpiece level.

The "kill x players with a mangler" was tearing my hair out. That weapon is just pure ass.

? It's one of the best weapons in close counter situations. You can one-shot-punch fools left and right (this method will not count towards the challenge most likely).

I still need to play more to review it. Fragmentation is great, Deathlock is great but I still haven’t played on High Power somehow despite loading like 20 games of BTB; I’ve only played BTB

Is there CTF on the slayer maps / smaller maps?

Overall impression now is that they’ve done well by the series for once. This is solid work, like an 8.7 and may continue to climb in score

+Game runs well
+Map size keeps the action going

-Graphics unimpressive
-Not an improvement over Bungie’s Halo multiplayer
-Not enough modes or maps
-No playlists
-No elites (or other characters)
-Insanely high TTK (whoever starts unloading a clip first wins)

9/10

+Amazing gameplay. Best since Halo 3.
+Great map design from the arena maps to btb
+The competitive scene is in a really good place and enjoyable to watch and I usually don’t care about that stuff

-not enough maps
-progression system is a big missed opportunity
-no forge at launch

Seeing as how every multiplayer game now is “live service” and releases with missing shit to be added in later seasons, this is a really good start.

The "kill x players with a mangler" was tearing my hair out. That weapon is just pure ass.

I swear sometimes I would hit people with every shot in a clip and they still wouldn’t die. Eventually I decided to whittle them down with a real gun and then finish them off with that piece of shit.

I gave it a 9/10.

Pros:
+Great gameplay, gunplay and movement

+Best graphics ever in a Halo game

+Solid map design

Cons:
-Not a fan of FTP game design.

-Feature creep GAAS game design leaves us with less features at launch, but probably more in the end. This will probably end up being a positive, as it will keep the player base engaged and always wanting more. It just hurts a little at launch, because there are less features than what long time Halo fans normally have at launch. Just adding a Slayer variant playlist and Objective variant playlist and maybe a few more game types like Lone Wolf, Team Sniper/Shotgun, SWAT and King of The Hill would make a world of difference.

-It would be nice if the Challenges were more like those in MCC and rewarded good gameplay and not lame weapon based Challenges or rare one off task Challenges, that has people doing lame shit like hunting around for a specific weapon or looking for a vehicle to grapple, etc. Get 10 head shots, earn 10 Objective based medals, get 5 killing sprees, etc., Challenges are much better.

-This is a fourth, but cut the prices down in the shop and offer a 10% discount for Game Pass subscribers. Sea of Thieves offers a discount to Game Pass subscribers and it's great.

I give it a 9.

+ Classic Halo style MP that clearly the majority loved and missed. But now with even more. It's like an old best friend that's been gone awhile and came back around to visit.
+ Gear is awesome, especially the grappling hook. Well varied too!
+ Great variation of weapons and nades.
+ Fun and varied modes.
+ Custom matches and the amount of customization is a huge plus as well.
+ PC optimization and performance is stellar. The amount of options too.

- XP progression / Battle Pass still feels like it needs some help.
- Matchmaking queues are off at times. Probably need some attention.

All in all a great experience, especially for free. I could say I'd want more maps and modes, but that will surely come. But for a surprise launch, I think it's a solid package.

Gameplay is solid and i'm actually enjoying just playing an MP game. It loses a point for the stupidity of limiting playlists and the stupid "XP by challenge only" system they thought was a good idea. It's so slow and so barebones that it hurts to even think about.

How they though "Ah, players will absolutely LOVE this drip feeding of basic armor parts and duplicate colours!" is beyond me.

Give it a 9

I think they nailed pretty much everything except the shitty progression system and the monetization is ridiculous. Especially considering they said they wouldn't do anything of the like.

I don't do MP but I gave it a 9 because I wanted to see the results and the only way to do that in this particular poll is by voting. From the reactions I've been seeing from people that DO play MP, it seems like 9 is about right.

Pros :

- very, very polished. Plays and looks buttery smooth on both my pc and series x.
- Love the audio! The gun sounds, vehicle sounds, and even the wildlife on some maps come through, it’s great attention to detail.
- ITS EXTREMELY FUN! No need to elaborate. The game speaks for itself.

Cons :

- The only con I really have are things that will be addressed as they always are in Halo MP such as more maps and more playlists.

The gameplay is 8-9/10

Performance on PC is weird.. not sure what's going on with that engine but I feel like it can be much better.

So many people are complaining about the battle pass, I don't care about cosmetics at all, but there is obviously something wrong with it so it should be fixed.

The game is great fun.

Bernkastel

Ask me about my fanboy energy!
Ok lets do this - 8/10
Pros - You already had this from everyone here.
Cons -
-Progression System
-Lack of Content
-No Forge(I consider this a part of the multiplayer)
If 343i manages to fix the first two by launch, it would be a 9.5/10.

9, because I don't give a shit about skins and battle pass progression (those are objectively worse)
If I would, I would have to downgrade the game to 7.5

Outside of the Teamskins they all feel also very underwhelming and bad.
Reminds me of Sea of Thieves during the start.

I gave a 10 expecting the maps that come out continue to be great and a slayer and rumble pit playlist are just around the corner..

Maybe I should of put 9.5 for now then..

I got it at a 7.5/10 or 8/10.

Mainly because it's lacking content, and for an arena shooter you can only play the same maps over and over so much, and at a time where Warzone is coming through with a whole new map, Halo is going to need new content to keep the spotlight.

Monetization is the other thing, and it's more aggressive in this game than it's closest competitors.
