CD Projekt believes Cyberpunk ‘will be considered a very good game in the long run’

Speaking in a new interview with Polish economic newspaper Rzeczpospolita, Adam Kiciński argued that the brand awareness generated by the game means it will eventually be seen as a success, despite its rocky launch last December.
“Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest, most ambitious and definitely the most complicated project in our 27-year history,” Kiciński said.
“In almost every aspect, we tried to take it a step further, just as we’ve done with every Witcher game we’ve released."

Kiciński also reiterated that the game would be receiving no more updates in 2021 and that the next-gen version will be released in the first quarter of 2022 alongside a large Version 1.5 patch.
“The decision to postpone the next-gen version of Cyberpunk was a difficult one, but we are confident that it was the right one, especially since it was clearly recommended by our development team,” he said.

“We need the extra time to fine-tune the visuals and performance of the game to be as high quality as possible throughout the game.”
CD Projekt updated its roadmap in late October to show that the launch of new Cyberpunk 2077 updates and free DLC had been delayed from later this year to 2022.

“Releasing a game in a new franchise brings many challenges and risks, especially when the concept is so complex. We brought to life a huge, vibrant futuristic city called Night City, where the characters’ non-linear stories take place.
We’re proud of many aspects of the game, but as we know, not everything went our way. Nevertheless, the brand awareness of Cyberpunk that we’ve managed to build is huge, and the game universe, its characters and details have fans all over the world."

"We believe that in the long run Cyberpunk 2077 will be perceived as a very good game, and like our other titles, it will sell for years – especially as the hardware gets more powerful over time and we improve the game.
We’re working on updates all the time, and we’re also working on a version for the latest generation of consoles. Of course, the original release taught us a lot. It gave us a kick and motivated us to make changes that will make us better in the future.”

In June, CD Projekt said it believed Cyberpunk 2077‘s performance had reached a “satisfying” level, following six months of patches designed to improve the game from its much-criticised launch state.
Post-launch plans for Cyberpunk 2077 were significantly altered following its troubled release, but the game finally received its first piece of DLC in August alongside its biggest patch yet.

The game’s last major update, patch 1.31, arrived in mid-September, introducing a number of gameplay, quest and open world fixes, plus visual and UI improvements.
CD Projekt announced last week that it had acquired American studio The Molasses Flood, the Boston-based developer best known for roguelike The Flame in the Flood and cooperative village-building game Drake Hollow.

I dont know man. For me the gameplay just wasnt very good, and felt basic and dated. I playd on PC and had a lot of bugs but they were almost all visual bugs, so bugs were the least of the problems for me.
The game is just quite boring, with unlikeable edgelord characters. Its far from the likes of Witcher 3.

That they've put out this many patches with a shit ton more to come and it's still at a questionable level makes me supsect "very good" is a tad out of reach for the game. That said, glad they're planning on fixing as much as they can.

Story good. Gameplay is utter trash.

By the time I got the platinum trophy I couldn't wait to delete this trash off my system. There are no updates or DLCs that will make me go back to this game ever again.

Tag, you're it.
I hope so ..

still I didn't play it but I plan to try it on PC soon
Without talking about the bugs, it's not a bad game. But it's not incredible either.
It's just average with some good things (some characters, the look of the city, the soundtrack for example) and some bad things (no choices (I don't count the one at the end since it's mostly just for a cinematic), it's not a RPG AT ALL, most of the side quest are forgettable, AI is shit etc...)

So play it when you can, but don't expect something... breathtaking.

people just need to play it on the right platforms.
Nah, it was bad even on PC. Performance was better but the amount of bugs was still incredible. And it is still broken now, you want an example?
Go in the middle of a street, aim to the left of the street and then aim to the opposite side, then look back at the left side and oh... magic... every NPC has been replaced because the way the game is handling the memory is shit.
And without talking about the bugs, there is too much missing stuff from this game. So yeah the game was less bugged on PC, but it was (and is) still a mess.

Cyberpunk had ... 4 problems.
1) Tons of bugs - a lot of them fixed and more fixes incoming
2) Performance - I was hoping for 1440p60 on my 5700 XT before launch, I was quite surprised at the 1080p40 average I was getting at launch (it's now reached 1080p60+ locked at all times, so GG on that)
3) Tons of existing stuff feels half-baked. Like clothing/armor. There's almost no point to bothering with higher armor. Mods fix this, but hopefully we'll get a more rounded tweaking to this.
4) The biggest issue maybe: tons of promised/implied stuff nowhere to be found. This might get tweaked with the 2 story expansions, but I don't know to what level.

Analyzing the game for what it is though ... it's a beautiful game, with interesting characters, great story, incredible world and lore, amazing music, fun gameplay and tons of content, though nowhere close to Witcher 3 levels.

I put 100 hours in the game within the launch month, had a blast with it, but I stopped, waiting for further improvements. Still waiting. The game is great and has potential to be one of the greatest. We'll see.

I wouldn't know..! You launched a broken game, lied about it. Promised gold, green pastures patches and next gen upgrades. It's been a year now, but you happily took our money. Well - we'll remember.. all the memeable bugs.

It already is one of the best games of the last 10 years, its amazing how many plebs cyberpunk has filtered. (i am talking about the pc game)
I preferred Deus Ex games and wouldn’t put them in the best games. I picked up Cyberpunk for cheap and finished it in about 30 hrs obviously not doing too much side content, and about after 20 hrs could not wait to finish it and move on. I don’t know if it was the stigma around it that tainted my experience but found it quite average. I’m not sure what they can do to the game to improve the overall experience to make me want to go back.

It was one of my favorite games of last year. Granted, I played on a high end PC and didn't experience many technical issues. I loved the world, story, and immersive sim like gameplay of the various missions.

Cyberpunk pros:
- Atmosphere
- Visual design / aesthetics
- Graphics [on pc]
- Music
- Some missions are very cool

Cyberpunk cons:
- Bugs
- Glitches
- Extremely poorly implemented "open world"
- Extremely shallow RPG elements
- Disjointed narrative and overall story that neither clashes nor meshes with the tone of the game
- General lack of any activities
- Extremely poor customization options for character, vehicle, house or pretty much everything else
- Very anticlimactic cyberware

Is the game dogshit? No, and on pc it never was. Is the game even remotely what was promised by CDPR? No, and it never was. It can be but that required a fundamental redesign of even its most basic core elements, which I doubt they ever will. I mean, the support over the last year has been.... questionable at best, focussing more on specific quest bugs and basically zero quality of life improvents.

CDPR fucked up and they have a TON of work to do if they want to drag Cyberpunk out of the mud.

Probably ... but is that really something to be proud of?

they will never live this down TBH. They may be a great developer and release tons of good games in the long run but people will be making jokes about this forever.

Survey says no, this one is done. I feel the next gen update wont help either, they'll have to write and implement actual AI (for their aso called non-liear stores). No fkn way they're using those resources on a game with such bad rep.

I really liked the world, didnt encounter too many bugs overall, the story and quests were actually interesting but the actual gun stuff was horrible. I just never felt the spacing or encounters were good, and trying to stealth always fucked up.

The cybertech upgrades menu looked like something out of the ascent.

I've been waiting to try this game. It looks like it could be fun. Day one download on gamepass I'm not willing to buy it (maybe $9.99 digital since I have series S would be my price point. 14,99 maybe.)

I thought the game was good but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, just been ignoring the updates and will jump back in for another playthrough once it gets more substantial updates

I don’t think you have really played the game if you think the character customization/upgrade is poor. It has the most options of any rpg in years.

they should forget adding ray tracing to ps5/xsx versions and fix things like pop in , traffic/npc disappearing and also this

Thats hilariously bad. I mean i'm sorry but it really wouldnt be that taxing to have some verly low poly vehicles instead of these cardboard cut outs. Games have been doing that for years now.

I loved it from launch, but I also played it on PC and had very few issues. I can't wait to see what else to bring to it, keen for another reason to go back to the game.

With that said, they never should have released it on last gen consoles; the game can stress my high end gaming rig, it was never going to run well on a VCR Xbone. They bit off more than they could chew. At least they offered everyone refunds, which Sony punished them for.

To me it's already very good game. Night City design is sublime, characters are memorable, story is amazing. Fuck the glitches and AI! (I'm on PC)

What a dumb thing to say. You can't even change your character's hairstyle or any other physical appearance.

Show me another AAA RPG title from the last 10 years that has been in development for 8+ years that does NOT have character customization beyond the main menu.
