Halo Infinite | Campaign Launch Trailer

Bernkastel

Ask me about my fanboy energy!
Unless they massively drop the ball, this is an easy game of the year win for me. Everything I want from a Halo game. The bad guy looks terrifying and the gameplay looks so good! Can’t wait.
It was not nominated because it drops a day before TGA.

Looks awesome, only concern is that the world seems to have just one biome, so could become a bit boring soon.

I expected them to show some variety in launch trailer, like when everyone was concerned about the world being boring in BOTW before the infamous trailer at the end of Switch presentation, but seems not the case. Or maybe they just don't want to show too much.

Is probably only the one style but plenty indoor environments so I'm sure we'll have plenty of variety. Hopefully the game has story DLC using other biomes using environments that were created but not used, that's a possibility I feel.

This game will receive 85 points, just like the previous part.
The embargo is being revised two days before the release, so 90 is out of the question.

Thus, by what criteria should it be at least remotely discussed as a game of a generation?

Isn't it funny for you to say that yourself?

I'm amused you brought up a review score thinking that somehow will matter to me. Here's what matters to me more than any single review or meta score; my own experience, the gameplay, having fun, being immersed in the world, the art direction, the atmosphere etc., while buckling up for an awesome Master Chief story in the amazing Halo Universe with characters I'm a huge fan of.

What I've seen from this game already - verifiable with my own eyes and ears - and what I've heard from people I know personally and trust who have played the campaign, this game's campaign is everything I was hoping for it to be, and then some. I can confidently say it exceeded my wildest expectations. Few games have excited me as much as this one coming into this generation. I know in advance it will be one of my favorite games of the generation, just as Quantum Break was last gen. Last I looked here is Quantum Break's metacritic. When you genuinely love and enjoy a gaming experience, and buy into the full vision, gameplay and world, shit like this doesn't impact your view.

Do I still like to see games I love received well? Absolutely. My expectation is this game will review quite strongly, perhaps a little too good for your liking.

Short version: Don't waste your breath trying to damper my excitement for this game, it is destined to fail miserably. Isn't it funny you actually thought you could?

That would be insanely awesome, but I doubt it will happen. Even on Legendary the Halo campaigns are nowhere near 50 hrs.
Yeah that's a bit optimistic.

But this is open world and they said that it is the longest campaign they ever done.

People going: “they should have just delayed the game until co-op was ready” are just being weird at this point. Because if you truly feel that way, you can absolutely get the same effect by delaying your own play through. That way, everyone wins.

Also, in a thread where 80% of the folks are going to play it on Gamepass, piping up to announce that you’re going to get it on sale or a significant discount isn’t quite the flex you think it is

Zeta Halo is the core open biome in the game with different sub biomes contained within, but it isn't the only place where gameplay happens. This makes sense if you watched any of the previews.

They create variety on Zeta Halo with their environmental design and art direction. 343 wanted to avoid a disney world feeling where you step over here and now it's a drastically different look. They create variety in a more natural way, which makes sense by doing it artistically and through a mix of interesting interior and outdoor spaces. Unique looking playspaces will not be an issue in this game, which it proves in its opening moments.

I don't doubt it, I think what our friend was talking about are different environments ( desert, snow etc)rather than variety in visual art. I'm very excited to play and from what I've seen I'm plenty happy with the game.

Exactly. Delay everybody's enjoyment because I don't want the game now. Just don't play it then. Let everybody else have their fun. You can play it on your own delayed time when co-op arrives.

It sounds to me like snow in some fashion MIGHT have been confirmed indirectly by a developer. I don't want to highlight which dev it was because I don't want to get them in trouble with Microsoft or 343 if it was a slip.

Its spoiler. The previews only had the first four missions(there are 14).

I hope so.
Because every trailer of the game so far is just a mix of that scene with the pilot, that scene with Nu Cortana and the generic evil Brute saying generic evil stuff.

It would actually refreshing to have a big release not spoil most of the game in the trailers.

I appreciate an in game trailer, some cool moments in there. I hope that's not the best parts the campaign has to offer but I'm confident 343 are leaving the juicy parts a mystery for us to enjoy when playing. The camera circle strafing Chief was a well done shot then by contrast Chief holding the Hog's steering wheel all gangster and comedy like was just that perfect Halo balance. Here's some epic story shiz in your face, now let us go have some fun in the sandbox between story beats.

No coop is a shame, will lose a few online buddies that won't revisit, but I have 3 hardcore Halo mates I can count on for some coop playthroughs later. The tradition will continue to play a solo run on Heroic first. I'm older now, not sure I have a solo legendary run in me but will do in coop eventually.

Based on the first two missions of the game, not even close. The first two levels show WAY more impressive stuff than everything in this trailer, and that's exciting if that's just the first two levels.

Awesome to hear. I'm trying to stay dark on all the YT vids that allowed 10mins or so to be shown. I'd rather have that first go at campaign on my own.

It's such a HUGE disappointment to me. To me a launch Halo game IS a Co-op game. It's the way I've experienced every Halo game, it's how I was introduced to the franchise and the Xbox as a whole and to not have one of the biggest features ready to go day 1 is absolutely disappointing. They should have just delayed it until the package was ready. Release the MP as they did and then the whole package for release. I mean, it's really like they are charging $60 for a single-played campaign, which while I think it will be an awesome campaign, seems to be a bit much for what's on offer. I'll be getting it on Gamepass so it's not like it's a huge loss, but I would have bought it straight up had the game launched like it should have.
Just wait then…

I hate both bearded guy and new cortana, and the villain looks lame AF but i have nothing else to play in december so i'm pretty hyped anyway.

Hopefully the campaign is gonna be around 50 hours at least.
50 hours?!? What in the world aren’t most halo games like 10-12? I can’t do a co op thru the whole thing if it’s that long

Yeah I’m going to dampen that hype a bit - there is no way it will be that long. No conceivable way. Maaaaybe like 25 hours tops

My guess from what previews have hinted at, main path probably 20, but easily twice that with side content.

Any Halo fans know the last time 343 called Halo Infinite a "10 year game"? Did they only say it once or have they said it repeatedly? Or am I just making this up?

How is this 10 year thing supposed to work anyway?
Is the game actually completable, like the story start to finish, at launch? Or are we going to be getting expansions or whatever every year or 2?

Full Master Chief story beginning, middle, complete end. That said, as a 10 year project there is likely to be future campaign stories and likely full fledged campaigns added through the Halo Infinite package. The engine will continue to be evolved as well.

Staten hinted the rest of Zeta Halo and its other locations will be explored in Infinite's Campaign Expansions. Seems like this story arc with Atriox revolve around Zeta Halo.

Was nice to see them bring back a bit of old Chief with his lines. Also, he does look a bit tired at the beginning.

People with early access have had the game for weeks by release and had played through the campaign once if not multiple times. 343 isn't hiding anything at all from the press

It seems expansions are still happening since the menu lists it as 'Campaigns' and the last time they talked about it, they mentioned this campaign has a start and end to it like other Halo games. As for the rest, this is all that was said recently:

"But I will say that Zeta Halo, this new ring that you find yourself on, it's known in the Halo universe to be the most mysterious of all the Halo rings. It has millions of years of secrets. It's certainly a really rich place to set new stories. And we're eager to explore those in the future. But I can't say anything about that today."

So I guess it will be updated like Master Chief Collection.

Sort of feels like the campaign is an after thought. Could be wrong but it's disappointing for me because I liked the previous campaigns (never really liked the multiplayer, personally).

Heroic run, with every aspect of my ring getting a thorough examination.
Can’t wait for this. It looks like it’s ready to blow me away.
I’ve played like 200 matches of the online and thinking how I’m gonna use those weapons and perks such as the grapple has me PUMPED!

could easily be my goty if they do a half decent job.

Hyped Is an understatement!
