So is there a way to do console only crossplay? If i shut cross play off, there is no portal servers with more than 10 players in them. Basically portal is dead with cross play off.

If I turn it on, I'm constantly sniped from a cross the map by M+K users.
Not for the new consoles if you shut off cross play you only play with that console.

The call in system is only there because of the wide open spaces in the map. If you do not have a vehicle and you can't spawn on your squad, have fun running like a maniac to an objective to only get run over / sniped before you get there.

I just use "redeploy" via the menu and choose a different spawn location.

No way in hell I'm running 5 minutes to the nearest location like a total asshole. Game has zero respect for the player's time.

Man some of these maps are total garbage.

Breakaway, Hourglass, Kaleidoscope.. Just massive, massive wastelands with almost no meaningful geometry and capture points with a flag in the middle of nowhere with almost no cover points. There's basically no tactics involved beyond zerg rushing it.

I refuse to believe they playtested this themselves. What the hell has Dice been doing all this time?

I'm enjoying most of the maps, and each offers something different, but they all have good areas and bad.

I like more of these compared to most of BF4's launch maps.

Some of my favorite areas to have close quarters shootouts in:
The plant/lab building on Renewal with two flags and lots of windows. Even has a fun sewer pipe entrance.
The portable buildings on Breakaway that have lots of rooms and you can crouch under.
The oil rig/platform on Breakaway. So much verticality and ways to move around.
Sector C on Orbital. A tower and lots of surrounding cover in the pipes and walkways.
The zipline towers on Kaleidoscope. Also allows for easy access to other objectives.
The main building on Kaleidoscope. Place is large, and lots of lights to make it unique and fun.
The flooded/old village on Discarded. Fun buildings to mess around with and blow up.
The large container ship on Discarded. Actually a big area with many ways to get around easy.
Pretty much any container area on Manifest when playing as Mackay.
The hilltop on Manifest. Multilevel buildings plus a tall tower is a good time.
The old village on Hourglass is always fun on foot. Great TDM area too.
The stadium on Hourglass, huge area and hiding amongst the stands is great to throw people off.

Probably forgetting a few, but for me there's a variety of sections on each map for different play styles.

The tower objectives on Breakthrough are terrible though. Need to be changed.

Biggest problems I still have after the last update

*Hit detection still not working properly.
*Gameplay at times "sluggish". Played few rounds of portal BF3 and then came back to BF2042. There is a distinguish difference in between these games in terms of flow when it comes to gameplay and gunplay. (high FPS on my rig though)
*Still no joystic support on PC...this is a real WTF
*Maps feel too big and desolate
*Specialists still suck (and the charecters are utter charisma voids)
*weapon/vehicle customization behind too many menus. Cant change things in game after you have locked your loadout. WHY?
*weapon attachment settings too slow and clunky to setup. also you have to rechange optics with sniper riffles as the game forgets what X zoom the attachment has
*menu after menu after a menu after a menu
*useless time dragging "cutscenes" in the start and end of the match. Its all the same shit after every match
*vehicles are not balanced
*starting the match you cant zoom the map to pick your spawn points. spawn points for infantry should be set so that it doesnt feel like running a marathon at the start of every match.

it looks and feels like battlefield but tweaked a bit, nothing wrong with an evolution.

People really are struck in the past with old gameplay, imo it plays and runs better than any recent BF games over the past years - especially at launch.
I don't think there's anything wrong with evolution, but my biggest gripe is the whole specialist approach and their abilities. It just.... doesn't feel like a Battlefield thing. But I admit that after sometime they warmed up to me.

On PC, for me, the performance and optimization wasn't the greatest until the new Nvidia drivers. Helped quite a bit TBH. Once they fixed those weird server issues, I had no issues playing and it felt pretty damn stable.

I understand people are upset about it, but it's weird to know a game is being bashed SO hard, but I'm able to go online, play some matches, and even have fun with it.

I just look forward to it getting better and better.

I was in the D1 building in kaleidoscope last night. Saw an enemy. We both unloaded our magazines on each other without causing any damage. We stood there confused for a moment. The other guy ran away, got killed by someone else and I got a kill assist. lol
I think many of the issues are caused by the higher player count. When people are spread out all over the map it's ok. But when everyone is on the same spot it's like the engine shits itself. Reminds me a lot of Planetside 2.
I'd like to see these maps scaled down with 64 players. I bet performance and hit registration would be way better.
Also the cap points on top of buildings in breakthrough wouldn't be so broken with 64 players.

I really enjoy Hazard Zone with a full squad of friends but we get to play 3~4 matches a day if we get lucky to find enough players to start one. It's extremely frustrating. I hope they fix this somehow, let us start a match with fewer players or even in coop.

Now this game is forgetting I've played it before. I have to redo the calibrations, bindings and sit trough the demo mission. And i'm not the only one.

This is easily my favorite shooter this holiday, but I'm taking a break from it until they add more content to it. The bugs and hit reg don't really bother me, except for the bug that erases your loadouts. I'm already at rank 75.

Anyone who celebrated Apex Legends at launch should take note of this game's lack of content. Because, although the gameplay in Apex was amazing, the content in that game was lacking for years. It wasn't until this year that the game actually stopped feeling like a demo. It seems like every live service game from EA suffers from this problem. Absolutely minimal content at launch so they can drip feed it to us later in small batches each season. Total content offering at any given time is nowhere close to competitors.

People might hate COD but their system is the best out of all of the major shooters. You just can't argue against +20 maps at launch with various game modes and a healthy mix of free and paid content. And then they have shorter seasons with larger content drops than competitors, both at the start of the season and mid season.

I'm not sure what the plan is for this game, but if Tom Henderson is right, idk if that first season's content drop will be enough for this game. I'll definitely come back, but most people will need a lot more content than that.

I played some matches last night and man it took a bit to adjust to controls/mechanics after playing so much Halo and CoD last month. Don't like that I actually have to use the directional pad to choose my grenades or c4 instead of just having them at the ready. I do wish we had smaller maps like the older battlefield titles... One of the things that still really irks me in this game is spawning in and then running for forever just to be sniped out of nowhere and having to start running towards an objective again.. even when spawning with my squad on a seemingly safe node I can pop in and instantly be shot by like 6 people directly behind me.

I remapped grenade to LB and weapon menu to up on the d-pad. There's also a quick throw option.

Don't run to flags that are far away. You either order a vehicle and drive there or redeploy.

Spawning on contested flags is often a bad idea. Last night I got killed 3 times in a row by the same guy because the game kept spawning me right next to him. And I'm a stubborn idiot.

agree. i'm not a COD player but since i get the game free each year, i try it out just to remind me how much it sucks. i've loved bf. actually enjoyed the S out of bfv. every time i jump into 2042, i get that spawn/die, get 1 kill then immediately get shot or blasted by a vehicle RAGE that makes me want to bash my controller into the ground (playing on series x). it just seems like it's so hard to get into a good rhythm. i get that i'm not going to not die, but jesus. something is off. and i hate sniping and vehicles. it's just not fun for me. not sure what the fun is just bombing around in a vehicle noob tubing people in a heavily armored vehicle. much prefer gunplay. don't know where to begin on what needs to be fixed, but god i hope they're able to make this game enjoyable. i have had some fun for sure, but mostly end up quitting super frustrated.

Spot on mate.
I think they stubbornly stuck to the 128 players thing when they could probably have done some crazy things focusing on innovation around 64 players. I think people were curious to play it but in reality no one wanted 128 people it’s just one of those back of the box things.

At this point the majority seem to only care about the perception of this as opposed to the reality of it.

They might as well just have an early access or beta and prolong it and simply have it for people part of Electronic Arts access or pre-order the Gold Edition or something like that.

Then after the first three patches have the official "release" or something like that because from what I see the majority of the fucking Community simply complains about semantics, if you just say the release date is a different day people normally will shut the fuk up lol It starts to question whats a "release" if a company can just slap "BETA" or "ALPHA" or "EARLY ACESSZ" and just put out patches to correct stuff without much drama. We've seen several MP games in beta for literally years, but hey if you don't say "release" then its ok right folks?

It's almost as if they only care about this magical day to find something to complain about as if the game is only coming out in available for one day or something weird like that is completely ignoring software is a dynamic thing that changes over time so if simply moving that date to something else and just saying something else regarding it gets people's perception to change it tells me you might see this company just do that in the future lol

And to the people who keep trying to plug in that World War 3 Great Value multiplayer game, I find it ironic that anyone's trying to count out Battlefield after less than two weeks of a release by using a game that's been in Early Access for 4 fucking years...

The vehicle physics for jets and choppers on the PS4 version is hilarious. Things far away just spinning and shit.

Should hit rank 60 tonight. Going gold :messenger_sunglasses:

lol thats one of the best parts about BF, all that wild and weird shit going on in the title screen after a match.

I was in BF4 and I was shooting a boat with a rocket launcher at the end of a match and the boat killed me.

During the ending sequence you see the boat on fire and it explodes and I get several kills, that payback xp etc lol

Went ahead and grabbed it today from GameStop. Was $45 after using $25 worth of reward certs. Could have honestly price matched it to save the certs, but oh well.

Having fun playing TDM through Portal. Probably going to try Rush later on.

Has there been any patches released for this game yet?
price matched to where

How far away were you from each other?

When DF did a test showing bad/zero hits registering it seemed it trended more to A) a ton of players grouped together and B) an enemy was far away.

On some site (I forget which), someone theorized it was shitty game code purposely coded that way, in which someone gaming in real life among big mobs of people would naturally shoot close by enemies so the game code prioritizes hits registering there. A gamer wouldnt naturally prefer shooting at someone in the distance if there's enemies 10 or 20 ft away. And since the game cant keep up with both, they gimped hitting far away enemies.

You never know. Maybe theres some truth to that.

When you think surely the latest AAA shooter is worth at least $30 aud and still get burned

*yes, that is what I paid*

And yet we still get troggos up in here defending this shit...

Just tested and have the same problem. Works fine on menus and vehicles. But when on foot I can only look up and down. :D Buahaha. :messenger_beaming:

edit: And now getting "persistance data error" and the matches dont start.
Thats because you are playing the new mode they secretly added.

Tunnel Vision Mode.
