The Book of Boba Fett |OT| Sarlaac Spit-Up

Mediocre first episode. Was surprised what I saw Rodriguez was the director. Lets hope it gets better.

That being said… we ain‘t ever going to see a rooftop escape without anyone doing parcour moves, will we? So over the top… I can‘t watch this any more.

What a completely redundant and pointless cash grab. It looks like there’s no corner of the Star Wars universe Disney won’t wring dry of every last cent they can earn from it.

The Mandalorian says everything that needs to be said about this kind of character. This Boba Fett series is the worst kind of ‘memberberry nostalgia bullshit, that says and does nothing new.

But hey, at least we all know how Fett survived the sarlaac pit now, which was far more important than attempting to tell fresh new stories with a decent level of creativity 🙄

I enjoyed the Mando very much, but this is pointless fan service of the highest order.

So the Young Boba scenes are using alternate angles/takes from the 2000 filming of AOTC, except for one shot:

I'm not a nerd and the SW timeline is chaotic to say the least ... but was that Luke's family getting merked when the Tuskin Raider Child took Boba Felt and the other captive on that walk ... before they fought Goro the Minotaur?

Episode 1 was not as good as Mandalorian. I'll watch the rest of the episodes, but I'm no longer expecting much. I just hope the season follows some of the events of the Jeter trilogy, because there was some good shit in that.

Nah, this is taking place after (or I guess potentially during) Return of the Jedi.

This is pure trash. I didn't have any expectations on this show, yet it left me feeling disappointed. The first episode really didn't do anything to make me care about what happens to the main characters. I think I'll watch The Mandalorian for the third time instead of spending time with this garbage compactor.

Come on, maybe we'll get hints as to why Han Solo and Luke Sky Walker regressed while Leia continued to be a general. :lollipop_grinning:

Going to wait until the whole seasons is out and look at impressions around here, but I'm not feeling the hype and some comments here aren't helping.

Still seems weird to me that out of all the possibilities in the world of Star Wars we get 2 shows about a bounty Hunter in Mandalorian armor.

We're still getting Obi-Wan, Andor, and Ahsoka next year (Ahsoka is the Rebels sequel series). Then Acolyte (High Republic series) and Lando in 2023.

Which makes it weirder that they put the 2 most similar shows right next to each other

I enjoyed it. I agree with the complaints of the choreography being wag too slow though. I was expecting it to be bad reading the comments here but me and my son thought it was pretty good. Mando started off a little slow too so hoping this improves as more episodes are released

So why is Ming-na Wen following Fett when she is clearly A. a better fighter, B. more conversant with what a tatooine crime lord SHOULD BE, and C. Fett isn't listening to her anyway?

Seems to me that she should shiv him while he is spaced out in the bacta tank, take his armor for her own, and rule in his stead.

Boba Fett Fortnite Skin

It's not the original design though. He changed his fucking pants!!!

Mildly curious about this show. I saw like 4 episodes of Mandalorian and was super disappointed and find the show crazy overrated so I'm not sure if I'd like this.

Getting the same actor back is cool but I also find showing his face so much kinda ruins the character since IMO he should be a mysterious character.

I think it works when you consider the next season of Mandalorian is probably going to be about reclaiming the throne of Mandalore. There should be a focus on them for a while.

I think that’s the big Avengers style crossover event they’re building to with these. Din will recruit Boba at the end of this to retake Mandalore, then they’ll get Sabine at the end of Ashoka.

For all we know he's already been recruited, and his whole reason for going back to Tattooine and taking over the criminal underworld is to get some firepower on their side.

OK start. Tem's great and the show will get better hopefully.
Boba's mask is off, the mystique is gone and has been for many a year.
It's like demystifying the Space Jockey from Alien. On one hand, whatever you do is gonna be a little shitty next to the great unknown, on the other, maybe it'll be a story worth telling (arguably unlike Alien prequels).

Looking forward to ‘The Life Of Bosk’. The new eight part Disney Plus series about everyone’s third or fourth favourite Star Wars bounty hunter. All you ever wanted to know about how he got that sweet yellow jump suit and blaster gun… slowly detailed over eight hours of CGI horseshit.

….I really wish this was just a joke that would never happen, but Disney will literally milk every fucking thing in the Star Wars universe eventually, to part fools from their money.

Star Wars was meant to be milked since it’s creation. It’s not that deep. Boba was milked to world before he was even in a movie

Hell they even have a documentary on D+ right now about that. He was in the holiday special and a Christmas parade before ESB released.

People like to pretend that Star Wars wasn't about selling toys until Disney bought Lucasfilm, but that's what it's been about since Day 1. The toys were so important to George that the only thing he told Mel Brooks when Mel wanted to do Spaceballs was to not make toys from it. Everything Lucasfilm produced after the OT was funded by past merchandise releases. The Special Edition funding came from the launch of the EU books and new Kenner toy line. All of the merchandise money that sprung from those re-releases went into the Prequels.

I agree with everything you said and I still love Star Wars. It’s always been that way. It was never just about the movies and was never planned to be just about them. They just never had the distribution power of today’s world. Games, streaming services etc. If they were around back then we’d be getting Chrismas specials, Easter specials Halloween specials etc.

It is was it is. And I love it for what it is. They’ll have a lot of misses but they’re will always be content that I’ll enjoy form it as well.

They kept the show secret up until the finale of Mando S3 (it wasn't announced at the D+ investor's day), and it seems like the supporting cast didn't even know they were in a Boba Fett show:

"I knew about the character," Beals said. "But this is how good they are at the lockdown of secrets: even when I first stepped onto the set I didn't realize that I was in The Book of Boba Fett. I just knew I was getting to be part of this story,"

Seems like most people though it was just Mando S3 or something.

He killed that Ray Harryhausen Goro. But you'd actually need to watch the show instead of viewing a Quartering video recap to know that.
Got those from Cosmic Book News actually. :messenger_winking_tongue:

People don't seem to remember that Lucasfilm was an independent studio. George funded the Special Editions and Prequels out of his own pocket, and that money came mostly from the merchandise sales.

There are nostalgia glasses about Shadows of the Empire, but the reality of that whole thing was that it was just Lucasfilm doing a merchandise test-run for their Prequel plans.

I know it’s Era, but they have a point here.

Funny to see from that thread that The Kree nuked himself.

What point exactly? Linking Overlord DVD videos? He's clear on that what he "reports" isn't verified and should be taken as rumour. As long as sources say it's a rumour, I don't really hold it against them when the rumour turns out to be not true.

And is this even relevant for an episode review? Lest you think they didn't watch the episode for the review... :pie_diana:

Honestly Mando gets really good in season 2 IMO. I liked the first episode and a couple in season 1 and was starting to lose faith. I think season 2 stepped it up big time and find myself still rewatching some episodes here and there. I can’t see myself going back to watching season 1 though.

Rodriguez has always been a terrible hack director. Famous mostly for his gurellia film making school. This was just as expected. That said, still 900% better then shite JJ/Ruin gave us.

And that was Jennifer Beals? Mind blown. Almost as exciting as a Matt Berry android. 😊
