This reminds me of when everyone kept complaining about how bad Mandalorian was based on its first few episodes.

I remember when people wrote off the whole show as going nowhere before baby yoda/Grogu was even revealed!

Didn't care for the first episode at all. Boba is another one of those characters that should have never taken off the helmet, even back in the clone wars. The lead actor just can't carry the show, he's got no charisma and the action scenes are entirely unbelievable.

I'll give it 1-2 more episodes but this is about what I expected with Disney shlock. Mando was the outlier.

Let's hope Fett remembers he has a Jet Pack in those episodes... 👀

Looking forward to ‘The Life Of Bosk’. The new eight part Disney Plus series about everyone’s third or fourth favourite Star Wars bounty hunter. All you ever wanted to know about how he got that sweet yellow jump suit and blaster gun… slowly detailed over eight hours of CGI horseshit.

….I really wish this was just a joke that would never happen, but Disney will literally milk every fucking thing in the Star Wars universe eventually, to part fools from their money.
Let's not kid ourselves. If you read the Jeter novels, you had to ask yourself at least a few times how badass Bossk must have been if he considered Fett to be his rival. I mean, dude was vying to head of the bounty hunter guild, wasn't he? Given how much of an asshole he was, I have to think he had some fun adventures along the way. I would actually co-sign to a series on him, assuming Book ends up building that relationship up. I can't remember if Fett offed him in the novels or not.

Got those from Cosmic Book News actually. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Being worse than polio is hyperbole obviously. 🤡
The first episode was weak and dull but ffs it wasn't THAT bad. They're talking about it like it's Matrix Resurrections.

I'm hoping it will get better and it probably will.

I like the actor and he's a perfect fit imo for Boba Fett.

I just want less or no more flashbacks and focus on the now.

I know it's Disney but was kind of hoping we'd see partially digested people embedded in the Sarlaac walls screaming or mouths opened in terror like they did it in the old comics.

You slowly digest over 1,000 years and fully aware and if that weren't bad enough, your consciousness/soul might even end up merging with the Sarlaac meaning you're eternally damned or at least as long as it's alive.

Star Wars going full 40k in Legends.

Deadline: "The Book of Boba Fett" premiere viewership 13% higher than "Hawkeye"

When it came to the Wednesday through Sunday viewership of Disney+/Lucasfilm's The Book of Boba Fett, 1.7 million U.S. households tuned in to learn more about the mysterious bounty hunter's origins in the first episode, "Stranger in a Strange Land." That episode dropped on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

The audience for Book of Boba Fett, measured by Samba TV across 46M TV devices with a panel of 3 million Smart TV households who watched at last five minutes, was 13% higher than the 5-day premiere of Disney+/Marvel's Hawkeye, which was watched by 1.5M HHs from Nov. 24-28.

Loki was the first prominent Disney+/Marvel series to drop on a Wednesday. That series still ranks as the highest 5-day premiere for a Disney+ series per Samba TV which clocked 2.5M U.S. households; Book of Boba Fett Ep. 1 pacing 32% behind it.

Uhh Grogu was revealed in the first episode and never heard any backlash except that people felt it was too short.

So that makes no sense also episode 1 was beloved by most fans, the issue with Boba Fett episode 1 is the pacing of the episode.

They made 39 minutes feel long and the first flashbacks were fine but then they turned the Boba Fett crimelord show into camping with the tuskens show.

I hope the plot get's moving in episode 2 because I don't want six episodes of him living with the tuskens, just barely seeing him do any crimelord shit.

So odd that they are comparing it to Hawkeye instead of S2 of Mandalorian. My guess is that it did a bit worse than S2 (or S1) of Mando so framing it as "better than hawkeye" is the best praise they can level at it since it seems quite a bit down from the high of Loki.

But what is Samba TV anyway? Some app spying on my shows?

Episode 2 was fire. Some of the best storytelling I've seen in Star Wars. If the next 5 episodes are the same level of quality, we're in for a massive treat.

It's ok so far I suppose. I don't really like the writing / performance of Fett in this. He is to nice! As soon as he got out of the Sarlacc it's a different character to who was in Empire and Jedi. It would have been more interesting had he changed during the time with the sand people.

The current storyline is better, I liked the twins etc in episode two. This stuff is way more interesting, and it makes sense Fett has changed as we are four years on from Jedi.

But yeah, kind of amateurish. Please no more flashbacks, mix some better ambient noise into some scenes, hire more extras and get a smoke machine to add a bit of depth and colour to interiors. This new technology they have, it's not as bad as the prequels, but there's no life to the scenes. Apart from the train attack ( which was badly set up ) the whole show lacks energy.

Im watching Seinfeld tonight and watching the classic episode The Fire and realize Jon Favreau is Eric the Clown. Now all these years later writing sw fanfic. That brief scene with the Wookie was one bright spot in another mediocre episode. And having Boba in this tore up white onesie during all these flashbacks just looks ridiculous.

I also wasn't a fan of the first episode. Not only did I find the story uninteresting and the action oddly anemic for a Robert Rodriguez vehicle, but it committed the cardinal sin of any pilot trying to get off the ground: it was boring.

I feel myself struggling to even find the energy to watch episode 2.

It wasn't terrible like the premiere.......but, it was bad. We'll see how it ends up I guess, but I don't share your confidence after what I've seen so far.
It's pretty much exactly what I expected and wanted from this show. It's at least as good as The Mandalorian so far for me.

Second episode in and that DMCA’d 4chan leak is starting to pan out.
I really wonder if they got Emilia Clarke back to play her character if that's the case given that the leak is all about Qui'Ra from solo leading the Crimson Dawn syndicate.

I mean it makes sense plotwise since the Crimson Dawn is still a powerful syndicate after return of the jedi.

I hated the first episode but found the second episode much more enjoyable. Still not as good as Mandalorian but I'm a bit more invested in the dual storyline. Both the present and the past.

The assassins in the present don't seem to be as straight forward as expected so a nice mystery going on there. And I'm enjoying his relationship with the sandpeople in the past.

*EDIT*
Steph Green is the director for the second episode so maybe she's a better fit for this.
Fenec still feels like a none existent character. Reconsidering buying her Black Series figure.

Does this series have a point?

What does that question even mean?

Whats the point of ElCamino/Better Call Saul when we had Breaking Bad?

Whats the point of anything?

Whats the point of any TV show?

Shouldn't we be outside farming and forging rather than sitting watching TV?

The point of this show is an expansion in the Star Wars universe, deeper character building, introduction new characters, linking this show with other shows and the movies.

My take was that he's indirectly asking if this series adds anything meaningful to the SW universe(character development, lore, world/universe building) or if it's a soulless cash grab.

Fair enough.

Does the backstory of how Boba Fett escaped the sarlac pit, the introduction of Jabba's cousins, seeing Black Krrsantan live action enough to justify character development, lore, universe building?

Depends on the execution.

If you have this bad ass ruthless bounty hunter who even dared to talk back to Vader in the original trilogy turn into a kind hearted warlord, you better have good writing to make it believable or else it'll probably be seen as Disney continuing to destroy the SW brand.

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but I was taken in by the the Mandalorian and was quit sad after the finale. The first episode of The Book of Boba Fett didn't really sell it to me but the second episode did with the Tuskens and Boba on speeders robbing the train.

She’s in a Marvel show filming right now. Not hard to believe she went from this directly to that.

I just finished the second episode. Ai agree that it was far, far better. The action was great, the story moved along apace, and the political intrigue is just getting started. Even the camerawork was better.

I like how they're showing how Boba was never just a suit of armor or merely destined to follow in his father's footsteps. He's his own man here, a born leader and pragmatist, very unlike his loner assassin father. He reminds me of my chaotic good character in Pathfinder: Kingmaker ruling over his barony - no need to follow the letter of law so long as what is right and just is being done.

I would not be surprised if that Tuskan dance at the end was a nod to Morrison's Maori background.

Back on board, long wait to Wednesday.

The Wookiee looked badass. Cool comic character.
Chewblacka was awesome, hopefully he will do something later on.

Overall, its ok at best (sofar).
I did like the story in ep2 with the whole "tribe-thing" but holy fuck the trainpart was beyond retarded.

Stormtroopers cant hit a crowd of people in a tunnel with a widespread shotgun blaster.
The trainfuckers went 200mph on a train and shot a blaster across the entire desert and nailing what, 20 sandpeople behind dunes with no issues and that was just the beginning of the stupidity.

Oh also, supersecret VIP assassin isnt afraid of death, but is afraid of a rancor, did i miss anything? Are they known for raping people or what? There has to be something more than the fear of getting ripped apart?

I know right? These guys have supernatural marksmanship apparently.

The main character sucks, mos eisley again sucks, story sucks, female bodyguard sucks. Who the hell had the bright idea of making another series with a mandalorian as the main character?, one is plenty. And they didnt know that one of coolest things about Boba was the helmet?. Clueless Kennedy.

I'm pretty lukewarm on the first two episodes, but that's how I felt about The Mandalorian pretty much the whole way through. I suppose I'm just captivated enough to hold on for more and see if it gets better. I have a very soft spot for Boba.

I think I'm always wanting Star Wars to be a little more of something it's not, which is my own problem. I feel like it has so many elements I love in terms of fantasy-storytelling, but everything just feels so...safe.

And this might be related or it might not be, but I really wish they'd utilize language-translators more, or even subtitles. It's funny how our suspension-of-disbelief works, right? Well, there's something about aliens speaking English that really rubs me the wrong way. Especially when they aren't even human. I can forgive the humans, but shouldn't aliens have different vocal chords? Wouldn't the atmosphere be more palpable if aliens on a distant world didn't speak like Ned Flanders or Steve Erwin?

And someone help me out with this - When it comes to the proxy who was sent by the mayor to meet with Boba Fett, was that just another really mediocre actor or was it the English language again taking me out of the scene? Probably both.

Maybe I should just stick to Dune.

We did get to go to Tosche Station in this episode and the couple at the station were Characters that were cut from A New Hope. that was fun.

I liked the episode, and so did my kids. I don't think they are great, but I do think they are fun.

Which aren't canon. Those are basically just licensed fan fiction.
Sadly.

Imagine a universe where the fanfic writiers are ten times better than the mainline writers.

Next we'll see somebody call the Zahn books "basically just licensed fan fiction" lmao

Also, "licensed" fan fiction is quite literaly not fan fiction. It was fucking canon until Disney brought their awful takes to the table. Usually appreciate and enjoy your takes Mana but you don't need to deepthroat every mass media IP you love. It's okay to say they fucked up sometimes.

Well they are. They aren’t canon. The shows are already set in the Heir to the Empire time (5 years after ROTJ) and Thrawn was sucked into a portal by a giant space squid nearly 10 years ago. Next time we’d see him is in Ahsoka most likely.

I am staying away from this show for reasons like this. I grew up with an image of Tosche station in my head and a version of Boba Fett's origin/adventures that I guess I just never wanted to see.
I've always adored BF for the fact that he basically has two or three lines yet everyone respects and fears him. He even talks shit to Vader, and Vader kinda takes it.

It's what I hate about SW most recently. Come up with new characters and new locations. Feels like the smallest universe ever when it's nothing but callbacks to shit from 40 years ago.

A tv series based on KOTOR would be incredible as it would all be new and there would be room for more mythology and characters instead of the current, in-bred SW content where everyone knows everyone and is related or worked together.

Apologies for the venting as I haven't even seen the show, but all I hear is "Tatooine" and "Jabba" and "Tosche" and it makes me feel like I have made the right choice.

There are a ton of videos on YouTube that lay out the evidence that he’s also Kommandant.

Nothing but circumstantial evidence in that video. Doesn't remotely qualify as proof.

The strongest evidence was the YT join dates? I'm sure even you have higher standards than that.

Watch the second video.

But I understand if you don't want to believe it. You enjoy his woke whining videos and don't want to accept that he's just repurposing his Nazi videos from Bitchute to fit pop culture.
