GamesBeat: Sony is pulling PS Now retail cards from U.K. retailers

Are there technical limitations for them to not be able to stream PS5 games?
Collaboration with Microsoft and the use of Azure would provide some foundation right?

What is it going to be called? For reference we have seen: PS+. PSVue. PSNow. PSN.

My guess is .... PS Game Now.

Runner up:
PS Premium
PS Lifer Card
PS Instant

PS Multiplied
Play Pass
PlayStatioN(OW)
They're not changing the name from PlayStation Plus.

PlayStation Now is being merged into higher priced tiers of Plus.

PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus Premium
PlayStation Plus Ultimate

Something like that.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
If this is their game pass equivalent I wonder if they’ll do a deal on upgrading current PS+ subs to whatever Spartacus becomes? I’m good till 2024 on PS+

The discount on gamepass is 100%.
Im sorry I should of stated I was talking about exclusive content.

There's no 100% GamePass discount. You don't own the game on GamePass. Accessing a game on GP is completely different than selling someone a game they'd OWN for nearly 50% off at launch.

They just need to update the PS Now server blades with PS5 hardware.

LMAO you expect Ryan to give anything for free? Ge will xharge double and convince you it's such a lremium quality experience that you shoul thank god it's bthat cheap.

You mustn't have seen what constitutes "free" to some people on this forum. There are folks genuinely convinced that they're paying to play games online but that the games they get are "freebies".

It really wouldn't surprise me if they were to lean on the GamePass brand a little bit and call it PlayStation Plus Pass. Blur the lines.

They need to allow you to at the very least Stream PS3 and PS2 games you own on disc, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to play Killzone 3 since I own the game and it's possible to play it on PS4/5.
Or hopefully they've got some sort of emulator in one of these tiers so you can play your collection.

I wonder what will happen to your PS Now sub, you should be upgraded to the top tier for the length of your subscription.

Yeah, I'm curious on this too. I'm good for a couple of years as well, but will most likely upgrade.

No they don’t. Sony games, unlike microsofts still do 10m+

As long as they stay competitive with 3rd party titles and Indies they are fine

Well sony may disagree.

Sony maybe on top of the world now, but when starfield, fable, indina jones, perfect dark, elder scrolls, are dropping for no additional cost on gamepass, with a very healthy installbase, people are going to notice that with sonys games you have to buy a noticeable chunk of 💰

All MGS come to gamepass day 1.

I said that would not happen on a $12.99/month PS+ pro sub, However I said they might do 40% off exclusive content for PS+pro member.

In comparison gamepass member have 100% off exclusive content because its included day 1.

If they add it to ps plus they suddenly surpass gamepass. This would be a good move, ps now is like $6 a month for the yearly. Make ps plus $64.99 and include ps now. Then do the premium thing for $69.99 a year and ur gootchi. If Nintendo can get away with $49.99 for that n64 service 👀.

If Sony's data shows that most PS+ users subscribe to the service only when the price hit sales at around $30, I guess offering a combined PS+ and PSNow at $65 will still make sense and profitable for them.

Make the always discounted price of around $30 the new lower tier with only online gaming access and services without the games.

That would make sense only if the $60 recurring yearly fee of PS+ is only really availed of by a few numbers.

Don’t think anyone’s skipping wolverine, or spider-man 2, or whatever Santa Monica and naughty dog put out and etc. Microsoft can thrives with their games with their service but sony, like Nintendo is a household name. Their first party can’t be ignored.

People who want to play any of Sony's first-party games aren't going to change their minds because of gamepass. Don't get your point here

I think it should be a rule on Neogaf for everyone to display their age, so I know if I am talking to a teenage console warrior like many of us used to be as kids, or a grown ass adult making a fool of themselves constantly debating and warring over nothing.

Good for PS fans if Sony can make a service like GamePass, or even come up with something different, but yet enticing. This is why competition is good!

Thats your opinion, but having new exclusives included in a sub is going to have an effect.

No matter how people try and spin it, having exclusives day 1 on gamepass is a significant advantage over the option not being there.

Nah its the PlayStation Plus Collection.

For now, its 20 games. But the higher tiers could simply get access to a larger collection of games. The full PS Plus Collection could be hundreds of games.

PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus Gold (in line with their headphone branding, but maybe not because of Live Gold)
PlayStation Plus Platinum (in line with trophies, headphones, etc).

I'm sorry but you are in the wrong thread buddy, it is about PS Now and it's potential rebranding, stop doing this whole GP thing...

This does suggest that existing PSNow members are going to have their memberships transferred (upgraded?) into whatever the new service is... interesting.

Bet its going to be shitshow at first and then they change it a few days later to a free upgrade. Seems to be the case with upgrades when it comes to Sony.

And my posts are not only about gamepass. But seeing how its a big competitor in this space I dont know why somone would want to prohibit any talk of gamepass.

Didn’t ps now only manage to hit like 3 million subs in how many years? I feel like it’s been around for ages and never really taken off. Surely they can look at charging an extra 10 dollars a year on ps plus and get 50 million people to sub to make it more appealing?

I like how people already jump to assume that we're gonna say Sub services are awesome just because Sony may do it (we also have yet to see how they will do it if they'll do it), i speak for myself and personally i will still not give a damn.

Hopefully if the BC thing is true there will be option to buy the classic games via store, Sony is gonna be a real pussy if they will lock BC exclusively behind that whatever subscription service, just do what you want and give me options to buy and own my games without some sub service.

Then it'll be conflicting against Xbox Game Pass when consumers type the name on search engines.

I don't think PS Now would ever compete against Xbox Game Pass on PC because it's streaming Only, about 5 games are released on the service per month and no new 3rd/1st party games are released day one.

I'm worried about moneyhatting tbh. Sony have shown that they will moneyhat anything they deem necessary, which has became accepted practice over the past year or two for whatever reason.

While Microsoft do pay to have games release day one on Game Pass, the games are always also available on other services the same day regardless.

Will we see a situation where Sony actively pay publishers to keep games off of Game Pass and vice versa... does "day one on x" now become "day one and exclusively on x"...?

I highly doubt Sony will be adding their own first party games to the service so they will need marquee 3rd party content in order to make it worthwhile.

I just can't stand timed exclusive or paid exclusive fuckery.

Imagine saying all of this in one direction, after the other company bought an entire 3rd party publisher with several well known 3rd party IPs. In which they too pay for timed exclusivity.

Eh? A lot of day one game pass games have been timed exclusives

I’m really curious about this from an industry trend perspective.

I think (but I can always be wrong) that the move isn’t really about GP but about revitalizing a not very successful service that didn’t find its audience by rebranding and adding something different than what GP offers.

But if it’s not the case and they move in MS’ direction by offering more of their first party catalogue (not day 1 but let’s say six months after launch) then it’s a big change, something that would deeply change the industry.
