i hope they add rain like in driveclub (just compare the graphics)

I enjoyed Driveclub, but that gif does no favours in the comparison stakes. And yes, GT7 will have rain. Also, it will have alternative views to the dash view, for those with deep concerns in this respect.

for the sound trolls. shut the fuck up

There is a difference between those two, it’s not a 1:1. GT sounds muffled, like you put a low pass filter on it and no reverb effects to create the feeling of how the sound bounces inside the cockpit. It simply sounds like a more soundproofed comfort car. I usually just crank the engine sounds, which works but I hope they improve it a bit in GT7. I think it sounds a lot better in terms of at least acoustics than this from what I’ve heard in the new videos.

Edit: There’s also a lot of mid-range missing in the GT video.

gt7 is a lot more improved, also capturing a real like sound you won't get the same result due to space and the tools used to capture the sound.

In other news,I think they should add rockets to 2022 F1 cars IRL so when someone overtakes, they get taken out.

Would stop it being so...........sterile.

Yeah, I think it sounds better than the video posted above.

It’s always hard to compare stuff like this because Polyphony might go for a more realistic sound design from one perspective but it does not convey ”the feel” of the sound when hearing a real race car, because to convey it you’d have to overemphasize certain aspects of the sound.

Edit: Lol, are these even the same car models btw?

This is what I liked from the NFS Shift series, you had the total control of the scene without the cockpit occupying half of the screen. Even the fake high FOV in F355 was better.

The best I've seen was the dashboard cam in Driveclub. It felt very close to actually driving the car. That's pretty much what you perceive from behind the wheel, not the steering wheel and your own hands ffs.

There are options to change the seat position(up/down, forward/backward), at least in GT6(I presume you can do it in GTSport as well). Should be possible to do in GT7 as well.

Edit: Found the option because I could barely see anything in some cars so I adjusted the height and went like ”heey, you can just slide forward a bit and get a nice clear view”

I know, was just talking about the default view.

Tbh it's not something I'd bother trying to recreate as I just prefer bumper cam anyway, but if did really want to feel like I was in the car then the Driveclub perspective is best.

I feel ya, the default settings for the cockpit view is pretty horrible. I usually also go bumper view in all driving games, it just feels better IMO.

Can't wait for this but it seems they haven't nailed the sensation of speed in cockpit view compared to F7. And that's my complaint about GTS.
I don't think it looks that much of a generation a part but I don't think the new Forza will either as racing games can only look so good.

It's a sim though and this is exactly what Daytona looks and feels like. I've been 180mph on that track, well not the race circuit but the 2.5 mile oval. It doesn't feel like your going that fast at all and it's very wide with banked turns and a back straightaway.

I've also driven 160 mph on my motorcycle down a 4 lane interstate at 2AM. My elbows were tucked in and my helmet resting on the gas tank behind a speed screen that protects you from air.

People using any other view than cockpit view to play GT should have their wrists slapped.

It's about immersion vs being your fastest

I like to periodically use cockpit view when I feel like immersing myself while driving casually but my favorite is bumper cam because you can't see shit in cockpit view. It's doable in VR tho and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
They need fireworks, rockets being fired into space, pigs flying, confetti after every lap and burritos falling from the sky when breaking a record. Otherwise, sterile.
When the cars entered the banking section I don't understand why there weren't any jump ramps and speed pads. It is a half-pipe after all.

Very confusing.
It is also missing a deeper sense of strategic interception.

Does this game have normal cars??? Everything I’ve seen shows super cars you’d never see on the road. Never played a GT so I have no clue

Happy with more tracks but never been thrilled by Daytona. Now for my Aussie bias, give me Philip Island raceway or Albert Park GP circuit.

Yes it does and a lot of them. Not as much as previous gt titles though. However advertising for most gt games always centres on the race cars. I mostly play it for the jdm sports car lineup.

GT is a damn similator. No need to add rain just because it looks better. I mean, yeah, maybe if they add a couple of grenade explosions will look better as well.

They better work on the feeling of racing on wet surfaces. Doesn't feel quite right in GTS

I was talong about the forza 7 footage in that clip. Did you watch it?

...a generation ahead of Forza 7? To me it clearly looks like a game from the same generation that releases 5 years after Forza 7/GT Sport.

It has an improved lighting model (which it should after 5 years) under those sunset conditions in particular..but that looks to be the only obvious difference.

The thing is, even in "sterile" environments like this, there's so much more to improve on for a convincing image overall (just look at real life footage of the track).

I see people making jokes about rockets, ramps and fireworks but even without that stuff, that other "non sterile" game really drove the point home that when the environments are treated with the same love as the cars, it becomes apparent that the combination of the 2 yields more striking results. It just it is what it is.

Looks amazing, can't wait to play it.

The price of the cross gen version means I won't buy it until it goes on sale or I manage to snag a PS5 though.

Plus I will probably still be playing Elden Ring in March.

I always use the bumper or the bonnet cam. Makes me see the road much better and do the corners with higher precision. If i want to grind credits in a easy track, like an oval, then is when i use the cockpit cam to apreciate the car interior.
The chase cam is pretty much the only cam i never use in Gran Turismo games.

Same here except bonnet cam differs from car to car (duh I guess) try gr. 4 Trophy vs WRX and see the difference. Bonnet cam gives way to a quicker understanding of the upcoming road but is in some cases so high up I lose attachment to said road. I'm weird like that

Yeah, my main camera is the bumper cam. But in nome cars, like formula cars, the cam is way too low and makes it hard to see the corners up ahead, thats when i change to the bonnet cam.
Cockpit view is to chill and grind credits.

Chase cam i only use in arcade games. Never liked the chase cam in GT games.

Chase cam in GT is really stiff and I play horribly with it.

I use cockpit view for everything except online in Sport. Then it’s bumper but just because I have the feeling I get more peripheral and people are nasty overtaking. Cockpit view is too immersive for me to give up on it.

Exactly! In formula 1 I choose bonnet and well. I'm hoping for a 100% scalable camera view but I feel that hope is in vain. Bumper is slightly to low while bonnet slightly to high imo.

Still wondering if GT7 will import any profile info from Sport. I have a lot of hours in it by now. But probably not. Oh well, another 80 hours.

You can adjust the chase cam stifness in the settings and make it more like other games btw, it plays great once you change it.
