Dying Light 2 will get at least 5 years of content updates after launch

Hopefully they'll fix the stupid decision of not including guns.

Makes sense since with 500 hours for completion it will take the average player at least 5 years to finish.

It's 20 hours to beat the story and 80 to beat the story and all side quests, they later said, the 500 odd hours is related to going through the game numerous times and seeing different choices and dialogue between NPC's, really odd they advertised that tbh, as it just risks backlash when people finish all the content in their playthrough in 80 hours lol

This reminds me I still haven't done the dlcs/expansions for dying light, despite owning them :l

In seven years since it debuted, Techland has never patched the original launch resolution of the first Dying Light. If you're playing this on a Series X, you're playing at 1536x1080.
All the extra content is great. But I would have traded away half of it just to get a resolution bump.
I hope quality and performance are given a bit more consideration for the sequel, as opposed to just more content.

Some of you who are doubting Techland’s ability to provide content for the game post launch have clearly never played the original Dying Light. They’re still providing content for the game, and not just t-shirts and backpacks but missions, events, and more. I have every faith they’ll do the same for Dying Light 2.

Ugh. Why cant companies just launch a game and move on to the next?I very much prefer they make Dying Light 3 in those 5 years.

The first game had five years of support too. The most recent content update was just a few months ago. It's weird seeing all the pessimism in this thread since Techland has already walked the walk. This isn't DICE and it's false promises. I think most of you just aren't really familiar with how they handled the first game. Easily one of the best examples of ongoing dev support I've ever seen.

I really should pick up the first game but for some reason I never did. I loved Dead Island and I was told this was even better.

I feel they're just saying whatever they think people want to hear.

The game takes 500 hours!
Oh, that sounds like boring bloat?
The game takes 20 hours!
Oh, that sounds too short?
Here is a diagram of tons of different playtime. Pick whichever sounds best. That's how long it is.
500 hours, 10 hours of it is interesting and makes you want to play it.

5 years is a LONG TIME, this might be a bit of a GaaS type thing they're eluding to.

Since when? are people crying bout longer games now wtf i have put over 2000 hours into Skyrim 500 hours is nothing bring it i wish it were longer.

Smektala confirmed Dying Light 2 won’t feature crossplay but doesn’t go as far as to say that it won’t ever have the feature. While sometimes controversial in multiplayer games, as many console players are pit against PC players, crossplay in a co-op game is just a welcome addition. Specifically, Smektala answered a question about Dying Light 2 and crossplay, stating, “no, not at this moment. It won’t be available.”

Another question was posed on whether or not co-op would feature cross-gen, allowing PS4 players to play with friends who are on PS5. Smektala stated that it won’t be possible at launch, but Techland is “working to make it possible after launch.” A specific timeline of when players could expect this after launch wasn’t provided, but more details about this may come in closer to Dying Light 2’s launch.

Kinda weird for a game I'll only play a week. But hey, whatever keeps it in the headlines during sales season.

if you played and enjoyed dl1 then it seems like you will be getting a great sequel - if you didnt play it, I can understand how the recent 500 hrs/ 5 year plan sounds completely absurd. Now give me those pre-order nfts

That's not what I want to hear before I buy I game tbh, lol.
It‘s to be expected by now. Publishers have figured out that there is no need to make new games when they can successfully support old ones for years.

Guess it‘ll only get worse in the coming years. Ar least in the AAA sector.

Yea,I know mate.
I'm just an old fart who got used to dropping his money on a game and getting......you know, the game, lol.
To be fair the first game had some good dlc(compared to a lot of the shit passed off as extra content anyway).....but it does take the sheen off a games release for me when the dev proudly announces in five more the years the game will have everything in it that they want to put in.....I'm sure there will be plenty of game there on release, but it still leaves a sour taste.
