Elden Ring is probably the easiest souls game so far [An interview with FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazki]

The problem I see often is players don’t want engage with the game’s combat or mechanic and want to just turn off their brain when playing.

I get that everyone plays games for different reason but this is exactly why we have different type of games for different players, you can't expect game like Souls series which mostly about combat and boss fights played for “relaxation”.
What's funny is after playing enough the patterns can actually become relaxing.

The network test was perfect difficulty as I died a few times against Margit the fell omen.

I knew I could have gone a leveled up my character though if I really struggled but was able to beat him.

From software games don't have to be impossible if you're willing to kill some cannon fodder repeatedly.

I will have 8 full days to play this averaging 12 hours per day so I'm hoping to get as close as possible to seeing everything that is actually possible to see in the first play through.

I think I'm fine with this. I loved the first Dark Souls and its level of difficulty, but I ended up giving up on my playthrough of Dark Souls 2 because I thought they just took it way too far and it wasn't fun at all. It also basically stopped me in my tracks as I was hoping to play through all of From's games. Elden Ring will mark my return and I'd much prefer an experience closer to DS1 than DS2.

I think it is an entitled feeling where you like the allure/hype/look and want to feel like you were good at it or good as others who enjoy it… so the game must bend to you, the concept of this game not being for you feels offensive to some. If it is popular, you must be included in it/catered to whether you are actually interested or not, that is secondary.

Yeah, is so funny every discussion around a souls game need to be about difficult. I guess some gamers get traumatized by this genre.
Only those who refuse to git gud.
Honestly, everyone can beat those games, the only question is how much you need to train and if you're willing to invest that time and derive enjoyment from it. If the latter isn't the case, the game is simply not meant for you.

Well I'm sure I'll probably stil get my ass kicked. Just downloaded Dark Souls 3 and going to play that a bit to get used to how these souls games play before touching Elden Ring.

Not a souls guy but I'm willing to try something new that's not Call of Duty or Division 2 from which i need a bit of a break.

I'm absolutely terrible at Souls games, but I still love to play every one (Sekiro being my favorite). Whatever difficulty Elden Ring is will be fine with me. I'll muddle through it regardless.

Sekiro is a great game, but was ultimately past the point of being worth it for me. Possibly the only action game ever made that made me feel that way. Played tough action games my entire life. I honestly can't imaging that 95% of gamers are fine with Sekiro as is. And that's okay with me too. I don't want him to change the game. It has its fans. I bet that completion rate is absolutely abysmal though.

For an open world game emphasizing exploration, I wouldn't think that was ideal though. Demon's Souls was seen as difficult at the time, but honestly it was more about observation and preparation than only roadblocking you into numerous bosses. Played more like a survival horror game than an action game half the time.

Sekiro doesn't even have a second weapon. There's just very little room to experiment. You pretty much do what is required, or leave. Even Ninja Gaiden has like a dozen weapons. Some players will click with one more than another, and more people can find ways to excel at the game.
No idea why anyone would lol at this post...

For my two cents, Sekiro is too hard for me, but i delight in skilling up. Not only do i eventually chip away at one boss or another, killing peeps then running away, rinse and repeat, whittle down adds then take a shot at bosses... I also get better at other games while trying it.. Kena, for example. Jedi: Fallen Order. Demon's Souls Remake... Yup

I still think its an awesome game and plan to try it again since its 60 fps now. I still enjoy it up until the point that I dont lol. People lol in every souls thread, nothing new. They love listening to anyone explain how they couldn't beat it. I get it lol.

I do expect it to be the best FROM game thus far, but at the same time I don't expect it to hit me quite the same way my first ever FROM game hit, Dark Souls. But I'm all ready to play Elden Ring and have been pumping myself up by playing other FROM games for the last couple months.
