Dying Light 2: Stay Human Official Review Thread

Oh man... that sounds like a really mixed bag. But I will still go into this hoping for the best. I remember the reviews for days gone and how bad they were. I was almost ready to skip it. Turned out to be a fantastic game that brought lots of fun to me. Let's hope this is also the case with Dying light 2.

According to that IGN review this game is a buggy mess. This is why I don’t preorder and wait for reviews.
I did not encounter many bugs to be truthful. It may vary from user to user though. I had 1 crash, 1 zombie that was unkillable until i walked away and then walked back and couldn't finish a side quest cause they were enemies near and it doesn't let you interact with quest objects until area is clear. I killed the mobs and was able to finish it. All of this happened only ones in dozens and dozens of hours of play.

Perfect example.

FFS, it seems like so many games are launching with bugs and fubared. Especially third party ones. I was hoping this was going to be good. Oh well guess I can wait for gamepass or for the shit to get patched.

Covid has been so shit for gaming.

I really liked the first one. However I kept failing at the arena part of the game and gave it up. I bought the switch version I need to go back to it at some point

Game Informer gave it a 9.5 lol

Scores are all over the place

I watched IGN and Gamespot reviews, and much of the criticism was there in the first game: terrible voice acting, meh story and etc.

And the first game was one of my GOTG

Every review, even the ones giving it a bad score are praising the traversal system, so thats good enough for me

I'm very excited for it.

This is the exact same I remember from the original Dying Light back in 2015. Reviews mashed the game left and right, and when I went to co-op the game with my buddies I had such a blast of fun I didn't now why it was so much shitted on it lol

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Remember to not care too much about review scores and, if the game looks appealing to you, just go ahead an try it.

Didn't play a lot but the first game seemed to be very fun, so I guess this one'll be fun too.

Kinda sad about the bugs tho. Seems to be some kind of polish tradition to release good and fun but kinda broken games.

I feel American gaming journalists are on the majority not gonna like the writing. Its soo euro jank in that nature.

Expected scores. From all the gameplay videos we have seen, including narrative beats, there didn't seem to be a whole lot that this game was doing differently than the first one. . .just more of it. I'll definitely be holding off on this one then until they get the nextgen patch for DL1 and when this goes on sale. There's just way too much stuff coming out this month to commit to a game that needs a couple of technical passes and a taste of the post-launch content.

This one is a complete stinker, but if it came out in January it would have had massive sales, people are probably going to save their doubloons for Elden Ring or that Horizon game at this point.

I'll play this either on Gamepass or DEEP sale.

Techland is recommending everyone to play with the Day One Patch:

Seems reviewers played without it.

The game is currently 75/100 - 69% Recommended on OpenCritic:

If the day one patch really does have over 1000 fixes, it makes you wonder why they didnt delay the game another month or so, reviews would probably of been higher.

Having said that, loved the first game so will def game the game at some point in the future.

Think I may roll the dice and day one it. Gameshare buddy wants it and we have a 4 people to play it with.

So this is Cyberpunk all over again? A buggy mess? It's usually a huge red flag when publishers tell disc users to not play the game early because they will ship a day one patch, which also happened with Dying Light 2.

Oh boy, the moment you said that I thought "It has got to be Reiner".

He's a good guy and all, and I respect his experience, but he has the worst takes in the entire videogame space when it comes to story. I immediately knew he must have loved the story and overhyped the game, he has done that before, and of course, reading his review, that's exactly what happened. This guy thought Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom had a great story.

Thank you, that's pretty annoying, weird they got reviewers to review a game that has a thousand bugs/differences.
It's going to be the norm cause of Covid for a while.

Not only is it still going to be harder to develop at home than in an Office but they were probably trying to just get discs printed for release yet still knew they could deliver a patch on Day 1.

I will get it after some patches I think. If they support it as promised I'm sure the user reviews will average much higher. And even if the narrative is shite, really most memorable open world sandbox games stories I barely remember anyways. It's the fun of the combat and gameplay that sticks with you usually. At least for me anyways.

I guess I'll just play some shadow warrior 2 to tide me over, I tried it out for some game pass quest and been having quite a bit of fun.
