If Kotaku hates it, then I need to play it
Level 24 here. Nice game, but it is too quest driven for my taste. Some dungeons makes it really fun, but in the world map you should not wast your time killing monsters.
Glad this is selling great. Seeing the salt from the Feminazis is funny to watch
It's a F2P MMO. And it will earn a lot of money by the looks. People are liking it.
Don’t they give anything better to do? This is why imho, certain regions have much more interesting and better designs than others. They aren’t afraid to think outside the box and take risks. Basically, if it isn’t the generic T-shirt/tank top, jeans combo with the short, one-side shaved hair woman or the female that isn’t covered from head to toe, it’s getting ridiculed by these “journalists”.
What?! Do you expect a journalist in these days to work in a serious ways? This concept is too outdated!
Don't give them the clicks, they need this drama and stupidity to keep going. I just cannot believe dumpsterfires like Kotaku, Polygon, PCGamer, RPS and other garbage still exists.
Stop giving these SJWs your time and money.
I agree. That's why I never click in any link that direct to that dump. But is really nice satirize them, even more that the every time that bunch of lunatics write something, they even makes us the favor of let the joke ready.

I mean: "Now in 2022, it’s not only bad, it seems as if the folks making this game just ignored the last decade or so of discussions and debates surrounding representation of women and non-masculine characters in games."

The only thing I can say to something that they wrote like that is Thanks to the developers to ignore some lunatic as this one of Kotaku. It almos gives me the wish to comment on Kotaku saying that I'm thankful to the developer (but that could help then with clicks, but the meltdown surely should be fun :messenger_beaming:
:messenger_beaming::messenger_beaming:.

Say what you will about that other forum, but their Lost Ark game thread is very active, so it seems the booba stuff in this game doesn't bother them too much. GAF barely has something resembling a game thread on this one, we'd rather discuss Kotaku getting their panties in a bunch about an animation.
Nothing is stopping you from making one yourself. Yet people sure like to sit on the sidelines like cheeky little monkeys.

I got to say as I think on this more.

I don't love hyper-sexualization of anybody in media (which was predominantly women), but now I find myself that I hate the bullying about any feminine traits or sexualization exclusively with women (nobody bats an eye at sexualized men) to be even more despicable.

Game media, and mass media as a whole, have become bullies about their view. Especially annoying when the american exclusive media is trying to bully developers around the world for something... relatively trivial. Just do what I do, DON'T play something you disagree with. That's it. I am not going to play this or Project Eve - but they should be allowed to exist.

Bullying is disgusting, and the media has been the largest head on the dragon in recent times of being one.

Western social media like Twitter is to blame here as far as I’m concerned. It’s all about creating headlines that gives you clicks and getting sensitive people triggered.
Take a look at Instagram or TikTok, the youngsters are posting sexualized photos and videos all the time. And look at workout videos, photos or magazines. Everybody is posing to highlight feminine or masculine features. Look at TV shows. There is more nudity than ever before.
But in gaming it’s somehow too much even to have curves or sway the hips and highlighting any feminine features is getting people triggered and devs roasted on social media.
Meanwhile the violence is worse than ever before and people are complaining over brutal scenes being censored.
🤷‍♂️

Please stop mentioning this BS. Every time you give these urinalists attention they get more clicks on their site. Just ignore them and they will disappear.
I did think the same earlier on when this all started. But look around...the issue has just GROWN. There are more complaints than ever about this type of thing and it has directly affected some companies and the products they produce already. Games and characters have changed, outfits changed, etc.

Why did this all change? Because the people complaining, even though I do believe they are a smaller minority, were MUCH LOUDER than the people saying to sit down and shut up about it all. So...I now believe that the only way to stop the slide and turn things back around is to fight for every inch and be loud about it. Some female character getting complaints because you can see nipples...I say we yell LOUDER that damn it, we WANT THOSE NIPPLES! Some character is 'too toxic in their masculinity' then we FIGHT for it and say we LIKE IT THAT WAY! Only by being louder than the whiners and complainers will we stop this. Oh, and yes, vote with your wallet too. If someone makes a game that bends over to all the complaints, scream about it and then be strong enough to WALK AWAY and not support it with your money! I'm convinced this is the only way we win now. As they say, the best defense is a strong offense. It's time to fight and represent for what you want in entertainment. Stop letting the loonies win by default because they're the loudest, and ONLY voices in the room!

Gamers rise up
Heck yeah. Riiiiiiiiiiiiisse! :)

Eh, whatever though. I just want to play the damn games. I think it's a bit silly for people to act like games should be torch bearers for social commentary, etc. They may be getting more story oriented and deeper...but aren't quite there yet.

I sure as hell don't want to play a character that looks like me...at least not as I keep getting older! lol

And I have faith that Japanese developers will save us from it all...and hopefully we'll get more development from places like Russia and other asian countries that won't follow that trend either.

I don't understand the thought process behind even complaining about this. Why should this one game not be able to be different? Is it really so terrible than one game out of dozens or hundreds is different?

It you let even one freethinker escape the gulag, people are going to get ideas, or even question your totalitarian power.

Sounds good to me

It is. But could be a little more balanced. There is some quests that now give me 12k of XP. But if I spend sometime killing a monster I'll get just 2 XP. And I'm talking about monsters of my current level. The game shines in quests that you have to enter in some dungeons alone and face some boss.

When that happens the game is just to perfect, since you know that you'll be rewarded if you choose a harder difficulty. If you try the game, always go for hard when you have the option. Is more fun since you have some challenge bosses and the rewards are better.

Project Eve looks like FIRE though. I'll be playing that AND enjoying every little aspect of the art design. Because I like females and so I like that shit! If someone doesn't...cool for them. I'm not gonna try and play like I don't like what I like though, just to validate someone else's preferences or point of view. I do me, they do them. That's how it works!

Imagine playing Lost Ark and your only takeaway, to the point of writing an article about it, is the female walking animation. Think you need to look at yourself instead of the game at that point.

LOL. EXACTLY. Now...fortunately for me, I look like this day in and day out, so I don't have any image issues. But I can sympathize and imagine the pain that mere mortal women and men feel when they are forced...FORCED I say...to play these games. Obviously, the objective of these games is simply to enforce male power and domination while ensuring that all the players feel as insignificant and marginalized as possible! Bwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!

I agree with the direction that that western companies took females characters in during the last decade. It's good progress, but we have much work to do with male characters now.

Nathan Drake is an outdated, sexist relic from 2007.

latest

The new Nathan Drake needs to be more representative of realistic body standards and look more like the average man in 2022.

THIS is the direction we need to go:

Well following the Kotaku logic that is true and disgusting.

TBH, I'm playing an assassin and I fucking hate her armors and especially the high heels. I find it fucking stupid.
But to each his own, and it's good it exists. Calling for less variety is dumb, calling for censorship is fascism.
