I honestly think they made him look like the Incredible Hulk mostly to appeal to the West. Literally everything now is made to for the West and they generally love their male characters big with huge muscles. I’m scared to see what Zangief will look like lol. I do wonder what the females will look like now.

This teaser tells a lot about the actual state of gamming.

People are so desperate for good versions of their favorite 30 + years old franchises that they'll hype anything.

That teaser was absolutely awful... It was graphically ugly and didn't even show gameplay.

Using ugly CGI for a game where the gameplay is basically the content is crazy I thought they stopped doing it in ps3/Xbox 360 generation 14 years ago.

On top of not showing a single moment of gameplay, you still have the "logo" drama (a complete copy/paste from a pre-made logo from Adobe Photoshop).

Compare this reveal to what Arc System works did with Guity Gear Xrd or Strive....

IKR. LOL The characters have always been overdone in one way or another, I just find this Ryu particularly so. To the point I think it is an ugly character model. Even with the unreal nature of this game, Ryu and Ken are not typically the biggest built characters since they are karate based. One can only image how big Zangief must be to keep the scale going.

Every single company use assets bought from an asset store and that includes logos. Some even use characters. It helps keep down cost. So I'm not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a bunch over that.

I'll admit, the graphics are better than i've ever imagined. But we'll see the gameplay when first footage is shown.

It will be interesting to see what the finished product looks like. A lot more detail here than what they generally go with in SF, wonder if that will carry over to the stages as well.

Just went back to SF4 for a minute, and the design is more in keeping with that than I remembered. They just flattened his head out a bit too much. LOL
my theory is the game will have realistic muscle deformation, Ryu looks wide because he was flexing.

After my initial reaction was utter disappointment, I actually watched the teaser a couple more times, in slow motion as well, and am now actually on board with the graphical change.

They obviously are all gonna look more realistic, but the artstyle will be still be stylized enough to not just be a NRS game etc. And the animations will obviously slap MK and Injustice around like a rag doll still.

And if they manage to actually keep this level of detailed muscle movements, skin quality and sweat during actual gameplay, hoo boy, it is gonna be a pretty fucking game. Bring on them waifus and make em sweat. xD

I already have pocket fighter and puzzle fighter on PS3 but the rest of the package looks enticing. I’m in! Especially excited for warzard / red earth getting its first console release ever.

No its not, You're arbitrarily splitting previous iterations into their individual re-releases and comparing it to the entire lifespan of SFV + DLC. It sold about half of what 4 and its expansions did. SFV was a disappointment for Capcom and prompted and major shift in the way their fighting game division operated. If 6 sells less than 5 we aren't seeing a premium fighter from Capcom ever again.

I just realize that since Ryu has new default costume, so Chun may also have new one, I'm saying this cause Chun Li and Ryu (edit: And Zangief also) were the only SFV character that didn't change their default look.

Also hopefully they got Ken right, heck even if youlack inspiration, then just make him DMC5 Dante blond edition.

Who did you use to not make it out of silver? You don't even need combos to make it out, just buttons and anti airs really.

People keep playing the SFV because like it, and there are more people playing it now on Steam (excluding short timed peaks of character releases, big gameplay updates or big tournaments) than ever have been in any Street Fighter published on Steam, the only platform where can track active players.

Only a few pros in the world earn enough playing to make a living of fighting games. They keep playing every day because they like the game, nobody forces them to keep playing. The are a few SFV players who constantly keep winning or are on the top of each region, and this is because they are more skilled and the more skilled ones are the ones who win but sometimes they got outsmarted by other people who learnt new stuff.

A simple example are the recent Capcom Pro Tour Season Final, which was a lesson of good Street Fighter with some seasoned players still at the top and some super talented new players that even if they are very young they learnt a lot and reached the top after doing a very hard job climbing little by little on their regions. Go and face them in a tournament, good luck if you think you think the skill doesn't matter and it's all about luck. This is only the excuse of a loser. You'll get destroyed by them.

Regarding to recent fighting games removing the time windows smaller than 3 frames, it isn't only to make the games more accesible: it's to make the games more playable online, because when there is a distance between players it means that the data will require a certain time to travel and be processed that can't be removed so in the average distance that players play plus considering the average internet conditions typically it will take around 3 or 4 frames so even if corrected with a good rollback it would be noticiable, so it's better to reduce the amount of times that rollback corrects the results of the action making these time windows bigger.

And well, traditionally Street Fighter always had people many toxic like you, that instead of playing and enjoying spend their time constantly trashing the game everywhere (always the most recent SF), creating a toxic environment that caused other people to leave when the people who had to leave are the toxic ones and leave people to enjoy the game.

One of the best things Street Fighter V had is to have all the players on a single online community: all the players of both PC and PS playing together and also independently of which version of SFV did they buy. Nobody has been left behind or isolated. It would be great to add also the Xbox players there to make the community bigger, and maybe even making it F2P to make the community even bigger.

The bigger is the community, the better will be for the game. Specially for the matchmaking, because more people means that the matchmaking will find more people connected and available with a level more similar to yours and closer to your home so with a smaller ping and less lag so a better online multiplayer experience.

Every single change even if it's for the good always means that there will be a group of retarded squareminded haters complaining about it (in SFV we had people complaining because Capcom was giving away stuff for free like new game modes, gameplay rebalances or unlockable characters, they wanted to put them on a separate paid game).

But I think that to go multiplayer and F2P would be a smart choice, specially considering that a year or so later the two top grossing PC games of the last decade, League of Legends and Dungeon Fighter Online, will get a fighting game of their franchise. And they are F2P, so maybe their fighting games are F2P too. And being so popular and massive is very possible that they will bring a lot of people to the genre, so pretty likely SF will have to adapt to compete.

To compare the SFV sales to the SFIV combined sales isn't fair because players like me who bought all the SFIV iterations are counted multiple times in SFIV while only once in SFV. Or what is the same, it doesn't take into consideration the season passes and other DLC we bought for SFV, which would be the equivalent of the Super, Ultra etc editions of SFIV. And well, SFIV was also released in Xbox so in SFV some of us bought it for PC and PS, but in SFIV some crazy fan could have bought a 3rd version for Xbox too.

It would be a bit more accurate but also wouldn't be fair to compare only SFV vs SFIV vanilla, because the fanbase who bought both series more or less is the same, but in SFIV people could have entered the series with an entry that isn't the vanilla one while in SFV they all count for vanilla.

I think the most accurate comparision is one that only Capcom can do because they are the only ones with the data to make it: to compare the unique players of SFIV series vs SFV series (not counting multiple times the ones who repeat buying a revision of the game) or to compare the total game sales revenue + add-ons (DLC/IAP/passes) revenue of the whole series.

And SSFIV/USFIV never were played at the current SFV levels on Steam.

It is also, together with Tekken 7, the game that best retained the amount of players of the launch peak. Meaning that a smaller percentage of its player stopped playing it.

Take a look at the concurrent Steam users graphs from steamdb.info:

Apparently Capcom screwed up the aspect ratio on the video and that's why Ryu looks so hilariously large.
I know it's a joke, but SF6 Ryu's body has the same shape and size than in SFV and SFIV, which basically was the same than the one from the 2D games.



SF characters have these weird proportions to have a more legible silhouette when looked from the gameplay perspective, specially when performing attacks. Here's the SFV art director explaining it:

As I've already said maybe its your first fighting game and its all you know so its normal for you to love it.

The only reason pros keep playing and making content(that attract new players) for this game is the money...

Tell me without tell me(the charts already shows it) which of those games have Pro Leagues and Pays respectful amounts of money to its players ?

I already mentioned above that isn't the case, learn to read. I already had played several fighting games during the 8 bits gen, before SF2 was released. Like Yie Ar Kung Fu, SF1, HKM, IK+, Street Smart or Spitting Image and so on.

The games with 'big' tournament leagues are basically the ones who generate enough interest from the players during a good period of time, because it makes no sense to make worldwide pro tournaments of games that nobody plays. Even in the biggest games like Tekken or SF the prizes small because the audience of the events is relatively small to they don't generate enough money to have great prizes for everyone.

And this is for the few ones with a decent prize for only a few players, most of the tournaments for these top games don't have a prize so fighting game pro players can't make a career from playing games. Only a few of them do it, mostly with money from sponsorship of their teams, but even considering that most of these proplayers don't earn enough money and need to have another job.

But you already know it, and you are only telling these things because you're a toxic troll that comes here to derail the threads with bullshit, lies, insults and hate.

Someone made it back into a 4:3 and he looks relatively normal again.



This looks way better than in the trailer.... I really hope its the real design

SF6 Ryu has the same size and shape he had in SFIV and SFV, which is the same one he had in the 2d games.

The super muscular look with deformed proportions is designed to look good and to have a more readable silhouette with the gameplay battle camera perspective, not when looking him from the front. It also feels a bit more weird with a realistic look because we notice more that the characters are overmusculated, while in a cartoonish doesn't look that weird because we're used to see cartoonish characters with these proportions in stuff like Dragon Ball or similar animes and cartoonish games.
