NXGamer/IGN: Elden Ring: PS5 vs Xbox Series X | S Performance Review

There are no true colors to show. All I did was state that my experience with the game with my hardware is the most ideal FOR ME. I understand most people can't afford the system that I have. Totally understand.

Well no, you proclaimed the "PC version" as the "definitive version".

I'm 7hrs in and can definitely say the PC version is the definitive version to play. Native 4k and mostly 60FPS with low load times (ala PS5-like) with all details set to Max. The slow performance stuttering is coming from streaming at various locations on the map. It's literally location based and they need to optimize that. The good news about that is it's not the rendering suffering.

That isn't an anecdotal proclamation. If you were to say playing with top of the line CPU and top of the line GPU and PCIe 4.0 m.2, etc. is the "definitive" experience then it would be more accurate but also ridiculously obvious. Factually, my PC isn't going to perform as well as your PC and so I'm probably better off playing on console. So it really doesn't make any sense to say the "PC version" is definitively better at all.

Has anyone that owns it on Series X, timed the load times? There is no way I am waiting 20 seconds on death and not noticing. Feels like it's under 10. I'll check later today. Time to sleep.

I'm glad DF mentioned setting your XSX to 60hz. It's buttery smooth on my CX now.

I called it, people laugh reacted, incredible padded scores and full of From jank, people never learn.

The game is amazing, but it isn’t a 95 more like an 85 and at its current state it’s a 75.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Load times probably vary depending on location, also I imagine loading from dying will be faster than first time loads.

I get you there.

I got you here too but we have never compared a PC in it's various flavors to a console. You are now wanting specific details about what a PC configuration is before comparing it to a console version? I disagree with this logic. Review sites cover the best console configuration to other console configurations. In this case, the best PC configuration does exist despite many people not having said configuration. If we compare all hardware in their best capacity, then the high-end PC rig is a better experience. However, I will take the critique that I should have stated MY configuration in the statement I gave. Totally my fault.

Let's compromise then.. a PC that is setup like my hardware is 100% the definitive version at the moment.

And yet another of my threads where I find you trying to derail it by bringing up the PC version even though the thread mentions exclusively the consoles. Have you even read the OP message? The title at least?

Now I guess you'll act like in the previous one, accusing me of being the one who mentions the PC version and then playing the victim. It's always the same. Over and over again. And we'll be lucky if you don't ask the mods to ban people like you usually do.

Certainly I'm going to want to know the configuration of the PC being compared. If I said my XSX beat my PC in this game, are you not going to want to know what kind of PC I have? Either way, there are no "console configurations". Console's are static hardware. So yes, sites like DF compare one console to another, but obviously we are not talking about varieties of CPU/GPU/Memory/IO/etc. PS5 defines all that with its name just as XSS and XSX does. PC has seemingly endless configurations in comparison. If someone asks about their gaming PC at the very minimum the CPU/GPU combination will be referenced. Why would that not be the case when comparing PC to console?

Yes, the highest end PC is going to outperform consoles every time unless there are unusual circumstances. "Better experience" is a bit subjective though since there is more to the "experience" than just graphical performance.

Yeah, I know you are not replying to me, but you are right. I had to check the thread title. This isn't about PC at all. Not going to discuss the PC aspect of it any further.

For these that care about PC I guess.
But hey PC for me is the worst version of the game below even last gen Xbox One… actually it is a useless version imo.

I’m doing the same mentality? BTW my words are 100% true for me.

Apologies. I will stay silent about the PC version of the game.

We can discuss in the PC performance thread if you so choose.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
PS5 again like usual.

This year is being so boring.

Been playing on the ps5:
  1. Game looks great
  2. There’s barely any load time
  3. Screen don’t tear
  4. Framedrops rarely happens and are not really noticeable, it’s close to 60fps I think, I can’t really say, just looks and feels very smooth.
  5. I haven’t noticed any stutter
Ps5 is the definitive way to play right now. And the performance reactions seems massively overblown.
How is stuttering constantly massively overblown? I can understand if it just doesn't bother you, but to go one step further and act like the performance problems don't exist is just wrong and dishonest. I know you answer is going to be something like, "I neve said there's no performance problems" but you are literally spreading misinformation by saying it's "smooth".

This is why consoles are still viewed as the casual gamers platform. Even on Gaf, a hardcore gaming forum, there's plenty of people who don't know how to identify what's actually happening in a game.

Read what I wrote again. It’s smooth to me. There’s nothing else to be said. And lol about the casual part of the reply. 🤣 who cares if I’m able to identify or not what is happening? I’m pretty sure most people can’t notice either, so your point is moot. I didn’t notice any stutter, the game is running smoothly and I’m having a hell of a time with it. So, good for me. 👍🏻

Splitting hairs there a bit I'd say. It isn't unreasonable to say that PC is automatically the definitive place to play any game released there, with very few exceptions. On games without cross-play, there could be some instances where player base size is smaller than ideal on PC, but with single player games, very few exceptions indeed. Obviously if you have a potato your results will vary. From a technical perspective, it's almost impossible for it to be any other way.

From the looks of the next-gen of GPUs, this will only be more glaring come the end of the year. Consoles are a great place to play for $500, cheapass bastards everywhere can relate to that.

With that said, from what you see around the net, Elden Ring is pushing hard to attain the status of "PC Master Race Exception". That 3090 at 720p clip DF posted, LOL.

Yeah not sure what crack some people are smoking the ps5 has some really bad stuttering issues..this is much worse than a resolution or framerate difference…that first area when you come out ….
