It's crossgen. There are not any next-gen racers even announced down the road except Motorsport 8.
Not for gt7 the assets where always MUCH higher.

But now unlocked because of the ps5

it's clearly going to be around 90% and I'll tell you why.

99% of the reviewers that will review the game will have not even remotely the knowledge or experience necessary to actually assess how good the game is in terms of simulation or driving model.

they will judge the game 100% only on graphics and amount bof content and will be scared to use any other metric in their review to actually influence the final score.

basically, a lack of confidence on the reviewers side and the fear to come across as ignorant will simply result in high scores by default.

I think that's also how most of them rate Fighting Games. graphics + amount of content, since with everything else they are usually simply not really qualified to actually critique it and just assume that it's great if there aren't any super obvious issues.

GT7 will have a lot of content and will look good. so no reviewer will dare to give it anything below an 85

You wrote all this nonsense and the reviews are already out.

Microtransaction Reaction

Gran Turismo 7 features the shady ability to top-up your in-game credit balance with real money via the PlayStation Store. At the time of publish the link to do so directly from the various purchase screens in-game is not functioning, so we're unable to see how much credits cost. It would seem that this is a different approach to the microtransactions added to GT Sport in 2018 (which was around a year after it was reported it would not feature microtransactions). The microtransactions added to GT Sport allowed cars to be directly purchased a la carte for real money; GT7 appears to be a cash-for-credits scheme. Either way, GT7's microtransactions have me feeling a bit cynical overall, especially considering how hard GT7 leans into making some of its coolest cars artificially scarce. Some rare cars will only pop up occasionally to buy before they're "sold out", and others require peculiar, time-limited, in-game invitations to actually purchase. It's easy to see how the fear of missing out may coax some players who are light on credits to shell out real cash to grab certain cars before they disappear again.

I noticed, but still my point stands. you will never see a game like this get bad scores. they will only ever be judged by content + presentation and nothing else.

because almost no reviewer will actually have the qualifications to judge a game like racing sims or fighting games

I think the egregious microtransactions did lower the score below what I would have expected. if they weren't there you'd see no scores below 90 I bet

You should try actually reading/watching some reviews, particularly from outlets that specialise in racing games/sims instead of continuing to blindly type.

those are vastly outnumbered by mainstream outlets that have no qualified staff on hand. I personally don't read or watch any reviews anymore as I don't see any value in them since I trust barely any reviewer, and the ones I do trust tend to do reviews way after launch and go in depth analysis style.

all I go by is gameplay videos and tech analysis (the latter to chose the version and make sure the game isn't completely busted)

Isn't Joe public exactly what you're accusing the reviewers of being?

So their expectations are in line with what the vast majority of people think and want.

Yet GT Sport scored way lower than this?

Well that's an interesting one. Considering the fact that you previously stated that the "simulation and driving model" are things that are of importance, how exactly will you go about assessing that just from looking at gameplay videos and tech analysis?

Would you like me to point you in the right direction?

I am not a racing game enthusiast. so I can't help you there lol. If I was I think it would be frustrating to find sources to actually help me decide.

I am into fighting games tho, and the only way to actually know if one is good or not is wait until after launch and watch some enthusiasts/pros play and talk about them, or to play a demo.
if you go by reviews you'd think Mortal Kombat X is an amazing fighting game, in reality it's absolute trash tier. but the reviewers of course don't judge that by the fighting system and balance, but only rate it by content and graphics quality, both of which are very good in MKX

It's not difficult at all to find reliable sources for racing games. In fact it's never been easier since the Internet has allowed for people with niche interests to easily connect.

For example Team VVV only cover racing sims/games:

Billy Strange also only covers driving games (he typically doesn't give a shit about racing to create content for embargo dates so you'll have yo wait here) :

Same goes for sim racing 604:

And if you want written content/reviews then there's race department:

But overall the mainstream press are that, mainstream. They are there to give you a general consensus from the perspective of your average gamer/person who will just play anything in a more casual capacity. But if you need to dig deeper on any particular game then there are always places you can go for more specialist content, regardless of genre.

but that's my whole point tho. these score aggregations are pure nonsense, tainted by mainstream reviewers that barely can hold a controller the right way up in some cases.

of course if you are looking for in depth content for the specific niche you are in you can find it. that wasn't the topic here tho... "review prediction thread" with a poll for average score. and that average will be highly skewed by people who aren't really adding any insightful information

that's why, if you look for a good fighting game and go on such sites, you will be greeted with something like MKX having highr scores than infinitely better smaller titles in the genre simply due to the fact that it has that story mode that is basically a movie that gets interrupted by fights now and then, and because that adds "content" it gets good scores... completely ignoring that the mechanics and animation timings are completely fucking dreadful.

How is fucked? There is nothing behind the paywal just like gt sports
This is why gaming is fucked.
If you are ok with devs fucking praying on you when you already handed in 80 euro's for a single fucking game. Then you are truly lost.
Keep that shit outside of my games.
Wtf is the point in me spending a long time in the game and finally getting a hard to get car, When little shit Timmy just uses mommy's credit card to buy everything.

how can you not see this is fucked up?

so PAY us money to NOT play our game?
