Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5: The Digital Foundry Tech Review

Yeap 1800CBR is terrible and worst than what they used last gen.

The only mode worth to play is the 4k one.

Hard disagree. I definitely notice a difference in IQ but I was used to it in minutes, but 30fps is just more of an eyesore that I cannot get over by comparison to the smoothness of 60.

You can stop to post after this claim. It's clear you have no embarrassment and you want just to make console war. Better abandon the thread now if you have a minimum of personal dignity.

Not everything's about a fucking console war, you know. I have a PS5 and haven't owned an Xbox since the 360.

It still looks amazing, it's the lighting, that is Gran Turismo's biggest strength when it comes to its visuals

Yeah it does look pretty great a lot of the time. My issue was only ever that it looks very, very similar to the the PS4 version. Saying that seems to be a bannable offence on this forum, for some reason.

HFW absolutely blows this game away in terms of a cross gen production. Even fucking Sackboy: A Big Adventure did a lot more with its PS5 version!

But hey that's all cool cos we only have to wait till like 2027 for that next gen goodness.

You might be waiting a while. All the games coming out this year were launch window PS5 games that got impacted by the pandemic.

What I see from GT7 is good enough. PS4 Pro and Xbox Series X has really ruined the start of this generation where typically the new gen graphics jump in these games would have been more than good enough. So now we're in a huge diminishing returns funk while the supply situation and the next gen development both need to get ramped up.

Both MS and Sony massively undershot specs-wise last gen and we're paying for it now.

I think Forza Motorsport will probably come out this fall. Typically Microsoft reveals a big game at E3 and has it release later that year. It's what they've always done in the past, and given that it'll have been 5 years since the last one, I'm guessing it'll be the same this year.

There's no doubt that the Pro consoles took some of the shine off the next gen bump, specifically its resolution increase. Going back to 1080p on a 4k screen looks really bad now, so logically the increase to 1440p or whatever would've looked really great if we weren't already used to it.

But that's certainly not all of the story. Most other cross gen games have featured far more impressive upgrades than GT7. It is possible, but PD just didn't bother. Seems like they were too focused on weird shit like that music rally mode, whatever the fuck that is.

You mean we have to wait until 2027 for Gran Turismo 8 or are you referring to next gen titles in general? PS5 will have some more next gen only exclusives way before 2027

That's just because the PS4 version looks so good and you have an untrained eye.

Better resolution, lighting, shadows, geometry, more stuff in the environment. And my biggest gripe with sport was pop-in in the foliage which is gone in GT7 on PS5.

Lol a significant improvement in graphical quality doesn't require a "trained eye". You've proved my point.

Then you proved my point. When something looks so good already you aren't going to get a huge jump.

Yeah sure. GT7 basically looks like real life. Nothing more they could do. I mean, the environments look straight out of scapes mode.

It's so obvious.

In a very specific case where there a lot of reflection due the ToD and you force to show 20 cars in screen.

When that happens actually playing the game? I don’t know because it is really hard to put 20 cars showing at same time.

VGTech will probably show 99.99% 60fps.
Shame me for guess the wrong number.

It is 99.81%

Doing the weird stress test it reaches 98.46%.
