Seeesh so it’s going to be hard to beat Microsoft going forward especially if the activision deal closes before MW2 comes out that will go under them for this year as well along with Forza Motorsport, starfeild and whatever else gets released from them also this year but going into 2023 and beyond Xbox is looking scary.

One advantage MS have is cross gen is over for them, they are not clinging on to last gen. Forza Motorsport is going to be the first real next gen racing game. Redfall is the wild card but being next gen only I hope it will go beyond the likes of Borderlands.
We know Deathloop reviewed well already and they have had time to improve performance for Xbox.
Then there is Starfield, could be generation defining.
Elden Ring has done that already, Starfield will have to go some to better that, hopefully they can.

The “distinct titles” is the more interesting number:

Microsoft: 5
Sony: 10
Humble: 7

Note that five is the minimum number to be included in the list, so as much as people say Halo Infinite is unfinished, it’s a good thing they squeaked out what they had to get the W.
You know that Sony 10 releases include death stranding and ghosts of Tsushima ps5 remakes (I know ms list includes flight sim). Also quantity is not equal to quality - how many games out of these 10 achieve avg score over 90? In summary great year for ms, well deserved and this is just the beginning (next 2-3 years will be very interesting with ms recent acquisitions). Starfield, if it is what they promise might be game of the generation. Then if Bethesda can get their shit together we might get next TES game before end of this gen. And this is only one studio that ms owns.

They're #14. Only Nintendo games that review well are Mario and Zelda. Reviewers hate everything else.
Unless your definition of "review well" is 95+ Metacritic, then this take is nuts.

Nintendo is typically somewhere in the top 10 on these rankings. This was a particularly bad year for them.

Nintendo's biggest challenge for lists like this isn't that critics "hate their games." They generally release multiple games in the 80+ range per year. It's that they also release casual "blue ocean" games that get middling reviews and drag their average down. I imagine the lack of a 90+ game last year and the tepid response to the Pokemon remakes didn't help.

Or the same ass drought of a snooze fest that it’s always been, especially if there’s zero interest in any games by those two publishers. Since 360 it’s been sad at best.
You sound salty as hell typical fanboy respond lol No hype for Starfield? and Call of Duty are you on crack bro lol

Haha Bethesda & Activision. Not degrading my Xbox Series X with shit games. Only one good game was published by Activision chump bitch…Sekiro. And like has been said a billion times people who say that trash are self admitting fantards.

Then quit making bs shit comments. I own both systems. So what if I prefer a game genre different than you…fuck off and harass someone else, I’m not your bro.

it not harassing it teaching closed minded gamers like you who only play a certain genre of games while shitting on every other game for no reason

This reminds me of a thread that got locked...

Microsoft would be the GOAT if they allowed me to pause my Gamepass subscription. As it stands now, it's going to expire unplayed because I've got too many other games to play elsewhere 😖

I'm sure they will be in the running for this again this fall.

You know .. that's actually not a bad idea at all.

Sling does it and I've used that feature.

i always thought it should be based on "time played" rather than dates. like instead of 3 months in date-time, it's 3 months in play hours.

Definitely a good year for them as a whole. Lots of good games, Gamepass was a constant go-to for me to the extent my Steam backlog hasn't gotten any smaller despite playing a lot of games. This year has already been pretty good on that front as well and if possibly both Motorsport and Starfield release this fall I'll likely be playing those steadily well into 2023.

Seems like a terrible idea. I can only imagine what would happen to Netflix's financials if they let you buy a month and stretch that over a year. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Buy one month instead then.

Theres no subscription in the world that let's you pause after already paying for it. That's not how subs works.

If someone had a monthly recurring payment set up, then I can see that method actually working out great.

Choose to pause subscription at the end of the current billing cycle and resume whenever later to have it charge for a month and resume again.

But I can see how it won't work for anyone who uses the Gold -> GPU trick as you've got up to 36 months of Game Pass upfront (I'm one of these).

The current system is terrible for the consumer. Right now my sub is going to lapse unused lol.

I was given a three month card plus a free month trial plus a bonus month for putting in my CC. I haven't paid for any of it and it's all going to expire barely used.

There wasn't a service "in the world" exactly like Gamepass before Gamepass. Just because you can't imagine a subscription that doesn't screw over the consumer doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.

Huge gap between MS and everyone else. The gap between MS vs Sony is bigger than Sony vs 505 Games.

Microsoft was Metacritic’s highest-rated publisher in 2021, with the largest average score ever

The full list of 43 publishers, which only counts those who released five or more games in 2021, can be found on the Metacritic site, but the top 10 were as follows:
  • 1) Microsoft / Xbox Game Studios – 87.4 (last year: 6th)
  • 2) Sony – 81.3 (last year: 4th)
  • 3) Humble Games – 80.9 (last year: 18th)
  • 4) Activision Blizzard – 80.6 (last year: 5th)
  • 5) Bethesda Softworks – 80.2 (last year: 16th)
  • 6) Capcom – 80.6 (last year: 3rd)
  • 7) Bandai Namco – 78.5 (last year: 38th)
  • 8) Sega – 77.6 (last year: 1st)
  • 9) Electronic Arts – 78.3 (last year: 21st)
  • 10) 505 Games – 75.7 (last year: 13th)

Curious will Microsoft ever be able to repeat a year like this given their affinity for subscriptions. Surely the quality will go down?
Probably not this year at least. It's looking like it might be Sony for highest rated this year

Even if you believe that MS will lower the budget because of subscriptions (they won’t), budget isn’t a predictor of quality. But I think this year won’t be as spectacular as last year for MS based on what’s been announced.

wat, where are these things coming from, it's like out of the blue. Is this the new narrative now? Why?

Edit: Oh wait, this bump is just a insecurity thingy because of Sony's lack of commitment for their PS+ service isn't it.. Jesus.. some people are so incredibly pathetic.
