I'm disappointed in the lack of Dualsense features in Elden Ring

I turned all that gimmicky shit off after I played Astros Playroom.

Honestly the Dualsense is a crap controller, I miss the DS4.

I’ve moved all my multiplat games to XSX because of the Dualsense.

I beat 338 games on PS4. I’ve beaten 9 so far on PS5.

That's what happens when you put all that unnecessary gimmicks on your controller.

Devs don't see the value of implementing features that take advantage of them when their time could be better used elsewhere.
Yet most third party devs have implemented it?
No 3rd party multiplatform game is ever going to "really" take advantage of any specific hardware feature that's exclusive to one console. It's a waste of effort that not all players would be able to use. The only time you'll see exclusive console features get used extensively would be in exclusive games (and really only be 1st party studios at that)
Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

Why would you expect a multi platform game to use platform specific features? That is a ridiculous level of entitlement.
Yeah seriously. Why would a dev want to use a console’s features? So stupid. /s

Wow. So you'll miss out on Elden Ring just because your controller doesn't rumble? And on the entire gaming catalogue for Switch, XSX, PC. And in fact any game not made before 2021?

I mean there's only so many times a fella can play Astro's Playroom - for me that's the only game so far that's made the Dualsense feel worthwhile.
All PS exclusives
Dirt 5
Destiny 2
Cyberpunk
Fortnight
Tales of arise
Immortal Fenyx rising

And the list goes on.

All games
I've played on my ps5 have had duel sense integration. Why would I spend $70 on a game that's missing a notable feature?

When I play next gen games, I want next gen features. If a game is missing next gen features, I'm not paying a next gen price for it.

The no dualsense feature for elden ring is a travesty along with the frame pacing, frame drops, pop in and tons of other problems on the technical level. The dualsense features are by far the best things on the ps5 every game in some way should use them playing doom eternal,dmc5 se, GT7, Horizon ect with them on is amazing.

Im loving the dual sense on GT7. Totally cool experience.

When it comes to games like GT7, Returnal, Astrobot, the difference is alot. Even Cod had some cool gun trigger changes.

If its a gimmick, then so is rumble/vibration. Its just way better version of it.
Playing without dualsense, is like playing without rumble/vibration when it first came out
N64 has the best vibration IMO, but if I don't have the rumble pak in it most of the time I don't really notice.

Vibration in Eldren Ring is fine. You can't expect companies to really care about haptics in non-vr games. Switch has so few HD rumble games from third parties too.

Exactly. I'm not buying a game without dualsense features.
lol, good luck with that. I bet you renege on this futile campaign in 6 months, tops.

It’s a console specific feature that, based on the replies in this thread, most people don’t even care about. Devs won’t waste their money once they see the metrics.

The N64 was so cool with the rumble and analogue stick :) Finished OOT recently and now playing Golden Eye

Yeah I don’t care if certain devs dont put the haptics in the game, but I notice the difference between rumble and haptic games, if they are implemented properly.

Its a pleasant surprise when they add them in, like in Sifu you can feel the fly go past your head, or the rain hit your helmet in Returnal.

I wouldnt normally complain but if Gran Turismo 8 doesnt haptics ill be disappointed, because I love how the dual sense works with GT7.
You feel going off track, different surfaces, its all pretty cool. Defo a good step forward from rumble, looking forward to how the tech works in the next Nintendo, Xbox and Dual Sense 2 controllers.

VR in Haptics is gonna be cool

Wait until the other consoles get haptics….

The sooner that happens the better because it will eliminate all the white noise that we currently get in threads. Anyway, I don't think the features Dualsense has, are a gimmick — they are a nice add-on/enhancements to games that use them. If you are not really a fan, you can turn 'em off so really it shouldn't be a bother to anyone.

How does it work in GT7?

I played the GT on PS3 with the force feedback wheel, it was so awesome. Does the dual sense do something similar albeit with a controller (obviously). I was wondering if they could make it feel like weight being shifted via the rumble and the triggers being resistant on sharp turns, etc.

did they even use gyro aim with the bow? feel like the adaptive triggers will suffer the same fate as gyro unless people cry for it like i do for gyro.

i too wish it had better dualsense support.
A nitpick really in the grand scheme of things.

Game is not running as the best game of the year for me, but maybe of generation and a spot in all time best besides MGS3 and whatnot

Wat exactly did Demon's Souls use the Dualsense for exactly? the only thing I noticed is that there was an ever so slight resistance while using a bow, but only at the very end of the trigger pull.

what else did it do? I didn't notice anything beyond that...

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
From is the worst AAA developer ever when it comes to tech. They simply suck at it or don’t care.

Honestly I think the constant use of triggers is bad for your fingers and the adaptive triggers makes it worse. Will be interesting to see what happens to people hands long term lol.

The rumble is okay though. That should be added
Iv been playing gran turismo and noticed in the office I get the odd twinge in my right hand…..

Best thing about the dualsense is the haptics in my opinion. I have the adaptive triggers turned off in the system settings.

Feedback when you parry and shooting spells, drawstring trigger, vibrating rumble when you are using certain healing spells, such as Regen. Bluepoint added lots of subtle things like this making for a more immersive experience. I'd put Demon's Souls at the very top when it comes to Dualsense integration.

Honestly, I think its better this way. That way they can focus more on important things, like gameplay, world building, etc.

What are you even talking about? Literally the bow on demons souls and that was it. And if you kept firing a bow over and over the trigger movement couldnt keep up and would fall out of sync.
Now if you said returnal, I could maybe see your point

It is a bit disappointing and a missed opportunity. Imagine feeling the patter of the rain, the fizz of lightning, the distant stomp of a giant? It’s those sort of things that can help make a game feel that little bit more special and immersive.

I guess you haven't run a faith build. Or parried.

As long as Sony exclusives don't dry up I'll be fine. Also it's been more third parties supporting the feature then not, which is probably why OP made this thread.

Dualsense is so good that when I play using anything else now I struggle to do so. I’ve put down games because they feel pretty dead without it. The development tools for Dualsense are pretty damn excellent and there is a lot of tech sharing. I’m not one to usually point the finger at devs and cry ‘lazy’ but I think it’s so easy to implement that I’d question what your controller team are doing.

I'm very disappointed in the Dualsense implementation in Elden Ring. It's fucking non existent. No adaptive triggers or haptic feedback when you draw a bow, using a spell or when the rain falls on you. It has so much potential for immersion and From basically just squandered it. And it got no 3D audio either. Coming from Demon's Souls, Returnal and Control, which used the Dualsense and 3D audio to an absolute perfection, playing Elden Ring is such a fucking let down in this department. From Software makes some of the best games ever, if not the best ever, but they need a fucking shakeup when it comes to technical features like this. I hope they patch this shit up in future updates. What the fuck are we buying the PS5 version for?
Yea, I'm a bit disappointed as well. Ppl like to shit on the Dualsense for it's "gimmicks" but everything was once new and once a "gimmick" until it became standard and/or essential. I personally love any implementation of DualSense features. I would rather these companies try something new, keep trying to innovate versus just going "yup, we're good here. nothing more we can do, it's perfect"

I can just image if the trigger pressure needed scaled with the weight of the weapon 🤔 those with weak girly hands will say "that sounds terrible" not for my manly hands :messenger_bicep:... luckily you get the option to turn it off. See everyone wins.

When its well implemented is adds alot to the game imersion. And alot of 3rd party devs has suported Dualsense feautures. On Elden Ring dont bother me much as the devs have more important things to fix. But playing now GT7 that has an excelent implementations, it adds alot to the game experience.

Everyone else did it, From is the outlier here. But then again, they can barely make better graphics and stable fps, so it’s no wonder they can’t implement these features.
