Shit I noticed:

Elden Ring still #1 on PS4 and PS5 in North America. #3 on PS4 and PS5 in Europe.
Game is gonna sell like 30 million.

Gran Turismo 7 sold well. Seems a bit more popular in Europe, no surprise there.
#2 PS5 NA, #1 PS5 EU. #3 PS4 NA, #2 PS4 EU.

Europeans don't care about Ghostwire Tokyo or that FF Chaos! game. They love F1.

Batman: Arkham Knight charted again lol. Must be cause of the new movie.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag charted in Europe on PS4 for some reason after like ... 9 years.

The Last of Us Part II outsold (digitally) Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 in Europe.

Anyone saying Elden ring didn’t eat into horizon 2’s sales …….

Horizon 2 has been overshadowed worse than Zelda , that’s really because Elden ring is also on PS. And the fact Elden ring sold more than GT 7 it’s 2nd month in the US is also telling. Sony could have launched those games later in the year like now where we have a “drought” than to release them all at once during D2, Elden ring, Sifu, and other releases.

You can prop up a game in your mind and reviewers can pad it as much as they want, but people have "voted with their wallet". The original game didn't really inspire people to want another game from the series so much. The fact that there are improvements, but they aren't as great as someone that disliked the first one would like is what happened here. Even Tiny Tina's trashland performed better, that's rough.

The people that play Elden Ring aren't really the main audience for the Horizon series, completely different games.

There might not be a Horizon 3 in the future for Sony.

Sure Sony could have put those titles out in drought months to make their sales look better than they are, if you need that illusion you should write Sony and let them know your strategies.

The next time the game will see a surge now is with a deep sale, or when it joins a service like PS +++.

Suffers from extreme PDS
Ugly chart for Horizon. That's a flagship first party title. Definitely is not performing like one which is a shame.

Elden Ring was only tracked for 4 days last month.

Actually a majority of my friends that played H1 loved the game (myself included), but have not purchased H2 because they wanted to get Elden ring first. And Elden ring is a 100 hour journey to say the least if you go beyond main quest line. I know it is anecdotal, but it has affected horizon’s sales. Horizon 2 is a better game than the first.

Also , how would it look if Nintendo released Mario kart 9 and breath of the wild 2 the same
Month?

Stupid.

It doesn’t take a genius, especially when they have 0 consoles to sell.

It's really hard to say.

Elden Ring launched at the end of last month, plus you have Gran Turismo 7, Grand Theft Auto V, WWE 2K22, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and Stranger of Paradise that launched in March, too.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
People seems to forget the first horizon game sold 20 million

Give it sometime, its too early to say now.

Furthermore i dont see how Elden ring affect HFW sales.

Both are different games, sure some people may buy Elden Ring first, but if they are interested in HFW, sooner or later they are going to buy HFW anyway.

Its not like they : "why i wanna play HFW? I finished Elden Ring!"

Horizon 3: North Souls coming to PS5 and PC in 2027

Explore a vast and dangerous open world in Aloy's final quest to save humanity, and become the Northern Lord.

Introduces our new Ultra Immersive HUD mode with minimal UI and almost zero player guidance. Find your own path.

Features more complex boss fights in what will surely be known as the most challenging entry in the series so far!

Anyone putting off HFW, it's a good time to jump in now, the toggle to turn off pickup animations makes it much better game. It's ridiculous you have to turn it off manually to begin with. Now the game flows a lot better, like a ghost of sushi than starring at Aloy bend over every 2 seconds.

Nice seeing Sifu continue to do well, same with It Takes Two which seem to be permanently locked in the top 20 for now.
Also nice to see Elden Ring continue to dominate.

It's a huge change even in end game when you are overflowing with materials and dont need to collect anything.

Yeah i really don't think Forbidden West sold more than the first game honestly...which is disappointing.

That said, Gran Turismo 7 at #1 above GTAV and Elden Ring in europe at that price is honestly amazing...specially considering some of the back lash after that update.
Then again, europe always loved these games.

Forbidden west became a victim of elden ring.
If forbidden west was to be released in September October it would've done so much better.

But you're assuming that Sony will have a big enough drought to place those games in another month. We'd have to get the total numbers of sales for those games first, before what you said can be considered true.

I'm glad the free-to-play games are in their own category.

Someone mentioned Zelda was once over-shadowed, but I don't know when that ever happened. Was it?

Right now Horizon is the epitome of an also-ran. Beautiful game, but its most compelling feature is the camera mode. Art and graphics aside, just playing it feels dated and out of its time. I hope they explore new ground in a sequel.

Who buys this shitty wwe games. I never understood why fake wrestling is popular.
And Tiny Tina ?! yuck... give me the wwe game
I haven’t watched wrestling since I was a kid, but it’s not any more fake than any tv show or movie. It’s just another “reality tv” program.

Too many games. Still love Horizon though.

Looks like Horizon is likely underperforming relative to the first.
Dude horizon is 70 bucks with ps4 upgrade for free.

Just because it was 2 in 2017 doesn't mean it underperformed. And what competition horizon had in 2017?
Also psn charts is numbers of downloads not revenue l

I'm grateful that they did release them early in this year. This has been the best start of a gaming year in some time

Games like Horizon Forbidden West will see improved sales once PS5 stock improves

Zero Dawn got its two #2 spots against For Honor and Ghost Recon Wildlands. Two games that likely didn't perform as well as Elden Ring, though that's basically meaningless.

Also interesting that Zero Dawn got #2 for February while only being available for 1 day, as it released on the 28th.

Its $60 on PS4 and can be upgraded to PS5 for free.
That what I meant.
Zero Dawn only release on ps4. I guess the genius in this thread didn't thought about that
Combine those sales and let's talk

Ghost Recon Wildlands and For Honor were in their second month.

Major released in March 2017 was MLB The Show 17 and Mass Effect: Andromeda

March 2022, you had Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Grand Theft Auto V, WWE 2K22, Gran Turismo 7, and Elden Ring, which launched at the end of Feb.

You're not going to get too many games in their second month beating 4-5 new releases.

Ultimately, we don't have enough information to say conclusively one way or the other.

The thing that matters is development costs and revenue. Forbidden West likely cost more than Zero Dawn. Horizon III will likely cost more than Forbidden West, if they maintain trajectory. Numbers are being crunched as we speak.
