Bro if Sony buy them you would be slurping them up the very next second don't act like you won't
this is why fanboying for a company is bad

Bruh. Sony bought Bungie you know....the actual creators of Halo.... And they scammed Sony.

Bungie with Destiny.... A shitshow in so many levels a well, but not as bad as 343i.

What can I say bro? What are you acting so defensive and shit with me? Using the fanboy card at the drop of the hat?..I don't give shit who has the big dick here.

Be mad with Uncle Phill and 343i, I am innocent bro. Don't hate me, I am just rolling. 😞😢

Destiny is a huge and popular IP Sony bought Bungie cause they see money and profit in it
just like for example if Sony were to buy Ubisoft
Sony would get Ass Creed, Tom Clancy, Far Cry etc...
which are huge popular IP's again it about money for the company
this is the same with how Microsoft bought Bethesda and Activision they see huge money
on popular franchise IP's you and other people might not like them
but this is for the masses so with you saying MS bought all the trash make you sound like a salty fanboy that all

Oh no they are going to buy Ubisoft and they'll have them focusing increasingly more on GaaS as they continue making soulless formulaic sequels that feel like they were designed by a market research algorithm.

If these wankbags can make the games super profitable, gaming will be raided by every cunt looking to nickel and dime. I'd rather current Ubisoft than equity firm Ubisoft.

I feel Sony is UNFORTUNATELY already moving in that GAAS/live service direction especially with wanting to create 10 new live service games in a relatively short amount of time in the future. Seems like Ubisoft favors the live service direction as well, so I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Sony is at least thinking about acquiring them.

10 multiplayer games in 4 years is not a short time. If you count MLB or GT7 its less than 2 games a year

Let me know when sony starts turning their single player games into strictly GAAS like ubi are planning to do with far cry and assassins creed and then we’ll talk

Most valuable franchise Just Dance...would be a long term stable cash cow for Sony or MS
Assassin's Creed is their most valuable franchise having sold over 155 million copies
Sony and MS would love to have such a franchise as a 1st party game

MS would have probably bought them already, if they aren't busy right now with the Acti acquirement.

Agreed.

I think with Ubisoft, if they can buy them cheaper, shhhhhhiiiiiit that is a publisher that can be rebranded, worked around, reshaped etc as the IPs they house are massive and imho can do wonders if under the right publisher.

Thats also how I see this. I think its a solid fit if it ever happens.
Ubisoft has iconic IPs, but the problem is that they lost most of their talents, IPs without talents don't mean anything, the real challenge is if anyone would aquire Ubisoft, can they brought again the flame to Ubisoft that this company had in the PS2,XBOX,GC / PS360 generation.

Hmm.. Interesting

The acquisition of this company also won’t fall under the U.S. purview and jurisdiction, so they’ll get absolutely no say in whether or not these two companies can form as one.

The "la créme de la créme" devs of Ubisoft is already at Haven, that Sony already bought, so i don't see reasons for Sony to aquire Ubi.

Sony also doesn’t seem interested in getting IPs so yeah it seems they would not gain anything!

Because there are 20k employees at ubisoft, sony wouldnt really be doing shit to improve a company of that size.

If they bought them its just for revenue and ubisoft isn’t a company that see’s a lot of actual profits years to year which is why they are stressing all these new GAAS and NFT initiatives. They are shitty bloated company.

If sony buys them i know the future they are moving towards is not one i care for, especially when sony already makes ubisoft style games, only better.
If they bought them it would be to ensure their IP stay on PlayStation and MS don't make them exclusive like Bethesda.

Sony is not gonna spend 12B+ dollars to ensure assassins creed, Clancy games, and far cry stay on playstation lol

Sony cant buy every 3rd party company they think microsoft might buy. They’re better off investing that money into building out their own self sustaining eco system.

And again, ubisoft isn’t company that makes a lot of profit to begin with, it’s all around a bad purchase for any platform holder.

Dont care

Ubisoft is garbage these days

Same bland games over and over, mtxs, GaaS

These days? Ubisoft games have always been second class and largely mediocre. Sands of Time and BG&E was probably their best period, but even then they were more single-A tier than the AAA's of the day. I will say they're very good (or very lucky) at turning consensus 7's into sales juggernauts though.

i mean, PoP and Rayman were very good. and they used to release smaller titles like Child of Light or Valiant Hearts

now it's just the same bland AC, Far Cry, Division, etc etc

If these service games end up making more money than Sony’s single player offerings, I can definitely see Sony focusing much more on GAAS to the point where it might even affect their traditional single player experiences. It happened with Sony’s focus on Japanese games, so I can see it happening with some of their single player games as well.

Unlikely. This is the funniest take btw

Business has different markets, different departments etc and one doing better or having more profit margin doesn't mean automatically you start to see it effect other things going on. Sony's focus on Japanese IP has less to do with other IP in the west and more to do with those very Japanese IP simply not moving enough units to make sense anymore. Would be like acting like Driveclub flopping and Sony closing down that team has to do with Uncharted or Horizon doing well lol Yet GT7 exist.... even the thing you are saying with their focus on Japanese games, yet GT7 fucking exist? Huh? Yet they are putting MORE MONEY in team Asobi?

To believe it will effect other departments, is like acting as if French fries having a higher profit margin now means McDonalds will be out here with fries burger, fries shake and can we get fries with your fries, fried in the juice of left over fries or something.

When they move 20 million on God Of War, 20 million on Horizon Zero Dawn, 20 million on Spiderman, 20 million plus on The Last Of Us....sir, that sounds odd ignore that factor. I simply see them focusing on both. You saw Socom, Warhawk, MAG and many more on PS3, yet you still got new IP with Infamous, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, etc Sony understands that to move the most units, you need a variety of content of both single and MP, they are buying those MP teams now cause they have always had a strong SP focus with great teams already, its the online that needs the work. Why anyone thinks that will suddenly mean Sony will put SP on the back burner is beyond me. I don't see them leaving such a massive base, they buying teams for MP, they are NOT making SP teams make MP games, thus clearly they want a team to do MP, they want a team to do SP.

More theoreticizing rather than talking about whats actually currently happening. It’s faulty reasoning, to even try to deduce how a billion dollar company will move in the unforeseen future based on what you described doesn’t even make for interesting discussion.

It’s like the equivalent of saying spider-man sold over 20 million copies so sony will start making only spider-man games.

Definitely valid points and of course I don’t see Sony abandoning all their single player games especially the big sellers, but I do think a shift could happen if these GAAS do truly succeed and make a lot of money for Sony. I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if Sony decided to focus much more on multiplayer and GAAS experiences with other franchises that don’t sell millions of units in the future. I’m also looking at the direction the games industry is heading in.

but that is and will always be based on a game by game basis.

If those IP don't sell millions of units in the future, of course Sony will move on, but that is for any genre. Single Player, MP, Racing, RPG, it doesn't matter. You couldn't say Sony hates racing games cause Driveclub didn't do well anymore then we can say Sony now hates single player cause Order 1886 didn't do well any more then we can say Sony hates Japanese's games cause The Last Guardian didn't move 20 mill

Too many examples show those shifts are based on those sole titles that didn't do well, not based on an entire genre, region or some weird shit like that. The direction of the game industry is moving is still based on ideas of business that have always exist in gaming. Make what is trending, support established, proven concepts to make a varied portfolio. The industry once moved in that motion shit, where is that today? The industry moved with that music junk like Guitar Hero, Rockband lol We will have trends that come and go and I'm sure the publishers know to cut their loses when things slow down in some trend. The issue is simply that GAAS literally is just "online", thats it.

I don't see Sony never doing online titles cause a few flopped anymore then I don't see Sony not doing some Single players cause some flopped, it means they'll just focus on the teams that are proven in those individual genres. No matter how great some GAAS might be, it would never make sense to not have a God Of War, Spiderman, Uncharted etc, Sony wants the whole pie, not a slice.

If you own Sony, we just give it to you, are you leaving millions on the table even knowing you literally own the studios to do both? So Sony has never went all in on any idea, genre, trend etc. They have always had some balanced amount of genres to get the widest scope, as Walmart isn't just going to solely sell Soda, Milk and Chips JUST cause that is the best selling item in their stores, they are at the top cause the sell everything, thats how I see this business wise as companies like this never just put all eggs in the basket. Look at Netflix, look at the number 1 most viewed thing, there is a reason why Netflix doesn't just have 100x of that exact genre, or show type.

Fair enough, but I’m looking at the trajectory with Sony. For example, isn’t GT7 technically an online only game for whatever reason filled with microtransactions? Sure, it’s only one game I know, so it could be nothing. Also, 10 service games announced in the next few years tells me that Sony is confidently exploring this avenue as well. Again, of course Sony will still come out with their single player experiences, but I feel Sony will put much more emphasis on GAAS/live service games also if they perform well which is understandable because it’s business.

I guess what really concerns me the most is what happens to the games that don’t sell well. Not happy with Days Gone sales? Let’s change Day Gone 2 to a live service game. Like you said though, it’s generally hard to predict what a billion dollar company will do in the future so it might be pointless speculation, so we’ll see what happens.

Well you won't see Days Gone 2 as some MP title, you just won't see Days Gone 2, but Sony has been that way for generations, all business are. If something's not working, they need to move on.

GAAS being a focus for Sony now doesn't mean that they will allow flops. They didn't with Days Gone, thus will continue to do so in the future, but its kinda moot. Not happy with Days Gone is like saying they were not happy with Crash so didn't buy the IP, not happy with Syphon Filter so you stopped seeing them or not happy with The Getaway and moved on, not happy with MAG, moved on, Warhawk AND Starhawk flop...moved on.

Notice even the online games that didn't do well, didn't magically turn into Single Player games JUST cause that is what Sony does well. So I don't see a SP title turning into some online game, I don't see a online game turning into a SP title cause God Of War moved 20 million anymore then I see McDonald's replacing the Big Mac with the Fry Mac lol Thats a lot of titles mind you that moved past 20 million and you've yet to see Sony turn Socom into a SP only deep narrative title about war or something. So if they didn't do that now, I can't see them doing that later in the reverse. We can only go on what we know Sony to do normally and I don't see any history of this to worry much about it. Those titles that do well will get sequels, those that flop...well...Sony will move on, but shit consider that applies to those GAAS titles too, I'm sure we'll see some flops and studios go, close etc. So its good that Sony bought those teams, it means Sony intends to keep that a separate concept, not turning SP into online.
