Fallen Order’s sequel is called ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’, it’s claimed

VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb made the claim during his premium Giant Bomb show Grubbsnax (transcribed by VGC) that the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it's been claimed.

Star Wars Jedi 2 is going to be new-gen only, where it's PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and then of course PC," Grubb said.

One of the reasons that they're going to be able to do that is because it's not coming out until 2023. This game is for sure now not coming out until 2023.

The best thing about Fallen Order was how little damage it did to Canon.

I hope the sequel continues to keep its narrative in check in that regard because it made the original that much better for it.

I had some minor complaints about the first game. But all in all it was really good. Looking forward to the sequel
The only thing i ever remember hearing negative about the game, was some people did not like the main character, that was it.

Other than that, it was a very good game.

Still have not played it yet. "lollipop_disappointed:

The original was good but felt a bit rushed and unpolished. I hope they give the sequel the time it needs to be really great.

And I liked how beastly
they made the Vader encounter... as it should be.
Exactly, which is why Force Unleashed was such a travesty. No new character or lore introduced mid canon should ever diminish the power or importance of established characters or established lore.

I.e. If you're new Star Wars content is canonically or logically incompatible with the OT or PT at this point, I reserve the right to dismiss it outright.

Loved the first one. Not many studios can pull off action games these days. The sequel should be even better.

And the actor for the main character is older and a bit more muscular now. Hopefully they have a time lapse and let him play a tougher character. Was a little whiney in the first.

Gameplay related or story related?

Gameplay. Controls not as tight as they could have been. I could have used 1 more world as well.

I was a big EU fan before the reset so now I don't really follow Star Wars for cannon. It's all legends to me now.

I look forward to starting with no powers again.

Jedi Knight 2 flash backs.

Me it was gameplay (a little jank with the animation branching triggers where you felt in less control on some instances, etc.). And some of the repetitive backtracking.

But overall, I enjoyed the game and could not put it down.

Ya basically this. Tighter controls and a bit more strategy in combat would go a long way.

I really enjoyed the first game, loved the mix of combat, exploration and a bit of platforming. I agree combat could have been a big tighter and the boss battles were rather forgettable but it was a really solid first entry.

I also hope we get some better customization options in the sequel. The rewarding feeling of finding a hidden chest was always instantly diminished by getting some ugly poncho from it, or a new color for the base of your lightsaber which you pretty much can't see during gameplay.

I kinda wish they'd just say it's not canon and go crazy with the story.
Never been a fan of these canon stories set in between major movies because they are always too constrained by the established canon.

Like the whole premise of the plot in the first one is that they want to rebuild the jedi order but you know from the beginning that they'll fail and accomplish nothing of importance because none of these character ever show up or get mentioned in the already established future events.

That's why I preferred when we had that free real estate post Return of the Jedi, and also pre Phantom Menace.

You could play around with remnant Empire stuff, or ancient Sith, or simply just anything you wanted because it was outside the already established timeline. It was new and fresh, and didn't always work but you got to really explore the universe.

Now not only do we have that replaced with awful, awful Disney lore, its also the issue that every new piece of Star Wars lore has to be absolute canon, rather than having decades of stories we can decide upon or eventually find consensus as to what we actually want for canon.

I hope at some point they simply say no more narratives set between ROTS and ROTJ because its already too full and too well tread (tbh, I'd rather they just end making more Star Wars canon full stop but...).

I hope they fix the performance issues, otherwise I'm in. It's my favorite Star Wars game since KOTOR II, and was a lot of fun.

You read too little then. Problems with map that was unclear, - ast (or penultimate) map being a navigational mess because of this.

Ohh, and let's don't forget that straight up screwed jump during one of the sliding section.

Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome game, but saying that the main character was the only issue is not saying too much

I really enjoyed the game, so I'm looking forward to this.

Guess 2023 is gonna be stacked. But man, I feel like we say that every year about the next year and then delays happen, lmao.

I bet the name means you don't play as Cal and hes the bad guy now, classic modern switcheroo over to a female protag. She'll be someone who "survived" their encounter with Cal.

Idgaf as long as they improve on the things that were good in the first and make the combat more cinematic and less soulsy, also do away with this respawning baddies and "campfires" for saving, if you want backtracking to be satisfying with enemies being there then make the power/gear progression mean that you can just waste the earlier enemies, like how Metroid does it, you go off screen and come back and they're back but you don't feel like its a chore because in the mean time you got new stuff to make the battles easier/faster or even just movement tech to avoid the battles altogether.

These AAA games need to make power journeys better, don't be afraid to make the player really powerful, just add in enemies and hazards that are also more powerful so you don't feel either like you're weak and not progressing or everything is too easy.

How many jedi did Order 66 actually kill? Feels like 90% of them survived and yet they couldn't bother to regroup.

Eh, I played it because it was star wars. The last 2/3 levels were decent. The rest pretty much sucked or below average.
The combat needs alot of work, it was plain boring and amateurish. Puzzles were good. The levels need more life and interaction.

The title makes sense. I'm interested in seeing how they tie up the story with the rest of the canon stories.

I just want to see the gameplay footage to see how beautiful the game looks, considering it'll be current-gen exclusive. Bring it on, Respawn!

I STILL haven't been able to finish this motherfucking game, it annoys the hell outta me.

Cal's feet don't touch the floor, he flies/skips when he walks and it makes me feel like I am playing some budget game.

The platforming is ultra-corny (bounce flowers? in Star Wars?), and the story is incomplete (there are times where it's barely present and times when it's alright, they didn't have time to include it in parts and it's very noticeable), and some inaccurate combat with bad enemy A.I. that just runs at you without the level design to funnel them at the right angle like in Soulsborne games, meaning they rush you from the side and whatnot and it feels dumb as hell.

I also hate how the 2 best characters, the two on the ship, just stand around like robot NPCs on every damn planet.

It feels like a rushed game through and through.

I got about halfway through the first game and it kind of lost me, worth getting back in to finish it?

Think I just got tired of going back to the same planet over and over. And I hated the map.
