Dramatic take: Sega "died" for much less mistakes.

Sega died for much bigger reasons than MS. Sega died due to hardware problems and because they had a really poor vision for the Dreamcast.

1: Sega making the 32x and Mega CD were the first mistakes. Then their American and Japanese divisions were making different hardware. Then the Saturn released, was hard to program for and Sega only really had arcade type games to offer. Then the Dreamcast was released too early.

2:The Dreamcast released as basically an arcade machine, not where the industry was heading at all.

MS should have been building their studios or at least building close relationships with studios with talent since the original Xbox but they didn't. They waited until the end of their 3rd console to start getting serious about their studios, that's crazy. Luckily they have heaps of money so they can ride this wave of no software pretty easily, they just better hope they don't lose fans with this mess..

Interesting Info so im guessing you know something bout Contraband?
Just tell me this is it more Just Cause or Mad Max style type of game?
No, I know nothing of Contraband. I just know a person who works on it as a 3D Artist and I speak to him daily about various game development topics and his previous experience wirh EA and DICE. That's it.

Selfishly plays on Xbox Purr-ies X

They seem to think STALKER 2 is still possible this year, I very much doubt it but that's what they are saying.
That would be fantastic, but I don't see that happening. That game looks awesome and I was really looking forward to it, but those devs have to contend with a lot more than just covid.

After todays news about Starfield, I have zero interest in the showcase because its just going to be a blue ball session showcasing games we can't play for another 6-8 months

Starfield gameplay needs to show up (lol). I want to see Avowed and Forza Motorsport.

Contraband makes sense and there needs to be more info for Indiana Jones.

Hmm, good question... they used their 2020 Xbox to announce a bunch of games which won't be out until 2025, so maybe this year, they'll start announcing games for next-gen Xbox Five?

But seriously, I think a big play session of Starfield would still be a mindblowing event, even if it's not coming this year. And then as far as what they might have which might get pre-order dollars going, there's probably Forza (but that's probably not a flagship title these days, unfortunately,) and maybe something like Contraband is closer than expected, or like a Halo Infinite DLC (seems unlikely... too bad, I'd be happy if I could play on a beach or in a cave or glen like the Slipspace Engine trailer)...

Much like last year when Sony had little on hand when GT7 and "technically" God of War Ragnarok slipped past 2021, they might just have to eat some shit this year since their big boys fell off the schedule, and instead pin hopes on the things to come in the more distant future.

There will still be plenty of titles they might showcase in this June.

Highly likely games:
- Starfield
- Redfall
- STALKER 2
- Forza Motorsport 8
- Avowed
- Scorn

Good chance:
- Hellblade 2
- State of Decay 3
- Quake Reboot
- A Plague Tale
- Indiana Jones
- IO Interactive game announcement
- Grounded

Less likely:
- Fable
- Perfect Dark
- Contraband
- Wolfenstein 3
- Doom 3
- Project Mara
- The Outer Worlds 2

Impossible to showcase:
- Elder Scrolla 6
- Dishonored 3

To close the show, there's always Gears 6!

If you think Stalker 2 is highly likely despite being on hiatus because of the war in Ukraine...

Hobbygaming

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.

Realistically, maybe 1/3 or 1/2 of Hobbygaming Hobbygaming 's list, with only one or two games actually having gameplay.
Maybe I put too much faith in them and I've fallen for the hype once again

Yeah Sega for me just made one big mistake and puff they were gone.
MS can afford to have the luxury to fail and start over because it does not depends on gaming. Also media is also more pro Xbox due to the fact of being a big American corporation and how MS use them. Almost like a symbiotic relationship.

Anyway, yes crazy how people at xbox only now realized exclusives matter, crazy how time to time they throw away all the good will they gathered and how sometimes they test the loyalty of their hardest fans. They better have a mind blowing conference, deliver and show people why they should invest on their platform.

But will he wear an undeserved cocky smirk and a t-shirt made for someone 35 years younger than him?
Usually I would laugh at this because it is true but.
I do not even expect a cocky smirk or the t-shirt thing.... I expect the lowest of lowest in hope I get surprised by their show.

Ask him LOL
You must have not read what I said in my original post "Obviously his under NDA so I am not gonna bug him for info. " (He even told me he was NDA and can't speak about it, before I even asked, so I didn't push it)

If we ever become like really good friends or something then maybe one day, I am not interested in leaking info or getting brownie points. My agenda is too build connections and have a good professional relationshiip with people.

Did you own a Dreamcast? This isn't the reason the Dreamcast failed. Three things hurt the Dreamcast!

1. EA refused to support Sega in favor of a Sony marketing deal instead.
2. Sega's marketing money couldn't match Sony's PS2 marketing machine. ($$$$) (And the PS2 wasn't even out!)
3. Sega had cut the machine loose after pirating got so bad. Games were free the day after release for pirating.

These are the key things that killed DC. The Dreamcast had the first and best online play at that time. (Years ahead of its time) PSO was some of the best gaming I had as young/new to online play.

You can add some didn't like the controller too as a negative.

Sega got Resident Evil Code Veronica, day and date of release along with many others. The Arcade vision wasn't the problem it actually added games for release!

Awoved I heard is doing quite well development wise and we will most likely see it. Outer Worlds 2 is long ways out, wouldn't hold my breath for the showcase on that one.

I hope your right about Avowed and wrong about TOW 2 lol, although i agree, i doubt it will be there.

Ehhh i hate Corona dude. Let's be real, we'd be seeing more shit if Corona didn't delay the entire world by multiple years.
Corona affected everyone equally. MS studios aren't the only ones....
It was obvious Starfield wasn't going to make 2022 as no gameplay has ever been shown.

Some are 2023 and others 2024 and so on

I didn't own a Dreamcast until the end of that generation and I know EA refused to support the system.
I'll still stand by my opinion though, it's like Sega developed the Dreamcast hardware around arcade games. Apart from the Sonic Adventure, Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia games, it's essentially an arcade box. And at the time, that's when arcades were starting to do and consumers wanted more meat in their games.

Unfortunately, Microsoft decided to shut down Digital Anvil in 2006.

I don't know what the hell Microsoft was thinking during the Xbox 360 days when they made the decision to shut down or let go of a crap load of studios and talent that had made tons of great games in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's on the PC, Xbox and Xbox 360. The effects are still being felt to this very day.

-Bungie (Halo)
-Digital Anvil (Starlancer, Freelancer, Brute Force)
-Indie Built/Access Software (Links Golf)
-Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires, Halo Wars)
-Ace Game Studios (Microsoft Flight Simulator)
-FASA Game Studios (Mechwarrior, MechCommander, MechAssault, Shadowrun)
-Lionhead (Fable)

They have a ton of stuff to choose from, the more interesting thing would be to know which games they can actually release this year.

A surprise release of Wolfenstein 3 by the end of the year, or something like that, would be great imo.

The problem isn't about showing games. My uneducated guess is that they will show a good amount of games. The question is when said games will release.

Even as a non-Xbox owner, the show still holds interest to me. There are plenty of Microsoft games that I am looking forward to, but most feel like far away releases.

This showcase has to be nothing but A+ full of bangers with actual gameplay footage to make up for the sfarfield delay and previous too early announcements.

Bring it MS.

What's with doom and gloom?

We are going to be gloriously showered with bangers. First of all Compulsion has been working on Contrast remaster all this time. 4k, 60 fps, all that jazz. A new Perfect Dark CGI trailer, because they have started from a scratch, crafting a game way better than before. Rare with a new Sea of Thieves updates, Kinect compatibility. Obviously Forza Horizon 5 dlc with run-from-cartel-goons game mode. Nobody ever talks about Alpha Dog games which is a shame, because their new mobile game is going to make a lot of noise! Ka-ching! Double-Fine with three small indies, but goodies including the sequel to Brütal Leg....sorry, Costume Party 2. I think we got it.

Oh, and announcing Xbox partnership with D.Jaffe on Therapy Simulator.

What delaying 2 games? How come Nintendo is still going? when it delays Zelda all the time *rollseyes*
I was talking about the sum of the mistakes of brands, just to point out how Sega or Nintendo who rely heavily on gaming cannot afford mistakes after mistakes and losing their fanbase.
MS can because xbox is not their main business, they can always try to regain a fanbase using their resources.

Essencially what I am saying is Sega had 1 live, Nintendo 3, Sony 3 and Microsoft has unlimited lives.

You could fool me. Loads of NCL games were delayed heavily on the N64; Zelda pushed back consistently any N64 game from RARE push back. You also act like we have a 'date 'for Prime 4 and that Zelda BOTW2 hasn't been pushed back.

I hope that despite the delay they will still show Starfield gameplay footage because if not it's going to be a dismal event.

it is not about delays, it is about consistently delivering and showing Gamers why they should invest on their platform, I am not saying no brand should delay games. What I am saying is MS has a pattern and it does not matter for them if they lose half the fanbase, they can always try another generation.

Nintendo has a pattern with Zelda of delaying consistently only to then bringing out as launch game for their new system in the end Doesn't stop Nintendo fans from buying their consoles.
I'll have a bet with you right now the new Zelda will launch on the Switch 2 along with Prime 4

I don’t really care what we see, they need to deliver something to play in 2022. Forza Horizon 5 DLC and Forza Motorsport alone would be quite laughable.

I can’t see MS announcing anything new that’ll come out this year, and everything they’ve shown looks years away. Hopefully Hellblade 2 is far along enough to release this year.

Very disappointing.
