It's a good job Xbox has GamePass because without it I fear the console sales would nose-dive.
I didn't buy an Xbox Series X at launch, only a PS5, because of the depressing lack of exclusive games on Microsoft's console and the fact that the few it did have I could buy and play on my PC anyway (e.g. Forza Horizon & Motorsport). However, I did change my mind and decided to pick one up last December, purely for third-party games as my PC is old and building a new one with the GPU price hike did not make any sense so I opted for the cheaper console instead. The PS5 at that time was still lacking VRR support which meant I had to endure stuttering and/or screen tearing in many third-party games, something that is not an issue on Xbox since it has supported VRR since the Xbox One X|/S (I was using it on my Xbox One X and LG B9 OLED TV back in August 2019). I also decided to subscribe to GamePass, although to be honest it was not quite the deal it might have been as I already owned a lot of the game on there on PC. Still, I cannot argue that it isn't value for money.
The problem with the Xbox Series consoles is that we are now 18 months into the life of the console and it really doesn't have any current-gen games that show it off. Sure, it has Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, which are both very fine games, but neither are that graphically impressive by current-gen standards and the Xbox still has too few first-party games that really show off the power of the hardware. With two releases slipping into next year, it doesn't look like there is much to look forward to for the rest of 2022 other than the usual third-party games.
