They're one of the very few developers that have a community of gamers that bug fix for them in mod patches. And look forward to doing it.

Even when they repackage Skyrim on every platform for over 10 years, the day one OG release bugs were present in every ported version. Not hating, just stating.

Still looking forward to Starfield though.

I’ve played Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4.
The only one I finished was Fallout 3 due to save corruption, glitches or bugs (bought them several years after release) on the other 2 games.

I’ve tried playing Bethesdas games and actually enjoyed most of my time with them up to the point that the saves get fucked or bugs break the game. That’s when my patience simply runs out. I hope Starfield will be in a better state, especially for console players.

Edit: A little anecdote: the best glitch/bug I’ve ever experienced was in Fallout 3. Somehow (idk how, would be fun to get an explanation) the model and sound effect of a water drop in the sewers/subways was replaced by a rusty tin can and its corresponding sound effect. I had rusty tin cans falling from the ceiling all over the sewer with a corresponding ”clonk” sound effect only to disappear and repeat the animation.

Yeah it’s weird. Like when Ninja Theory joined MS, they built that ridiculous GaaS brawler.

"The development of Bleeding Edge began as a passion project and was built out of inspiration from the original Ninja Theory game Kung Fu Chaos. Creative director Rahni Tucker stated the reasoning behind this game existing was "At home, I play a lot of team multiplayer games, all the way from MOBAs to team shooters. And then I was like: where is this game? A third-person action competitive team multiplayer. It doesn't really exist, and it sounds like my dream project".[5] Tucker said they came to that shortly after the development of DmC: Devil May Cry concluded. Tucker pitched the game and at the time nothing came of it but she stated that around halfway for Hellblade, Ninja Theory approached her on the idea and development went into production."

Phil needs to get someone to mange these studios. He is a great help to Xbox but he just is not good at managing projects across the different studios.

Series X/S launched with no games, Halo infinite got delayed and is still struggling to produce new content despite being a live service game and now this.

Xbox has to really lock in on understanding how to manage everything, especially if they plan to keep expanding.

The PS5 hasn’t been the most consistent with new game releases either so this is a big missed opportunity for Xbox to get more market share.

Of course it hasn't yet where did all those games they have released come from then?

My big fear about Microsoft taking control of Bethesda was one thing: Arkane Studios. One of my favorite studios... Prey, Dishonored... fucking amazing games. Now they are making a fucking trash ass coop game for Xbox...

Didn't they start working on Redfall or whatever WAY before the Microsoft acquisition?

Look what he said about Crackdown 3 for example and how that turned out. It’s stuff like this and on top of everything else that irks me.

One of your favorite studios..yet you're not looking forward to their next release (without even seeing or playing it yet)?

Sounds believable.

I personally think it's time for Phil spencer to move on. Promote him into another division and give a new fresh face a go. There is just too much disappointment, negativity, and broken promises surrounding this guy.

Seems obvious but people want to blame Phil and MS for everything right now. MS aren’t to blame for the too optimistic release dates either, Bethesda has a thing for 11 after the success of Skyrim which was released 11.11.11, so that’s why they wanted the 11.11.22 date for Starfield. No idea what’s their plan now to get a ”cool” release date.

Many of their studios has been working for years on different projects, hopefully they’ll show something in the June event.

It is funny to imagine though, if Microsoft didn't have Gamepass and were charging full retail for these games, how these constant delays and first party failures would go over with their base.

They can sort of get away with it because, well, most people are getting these games (at least in their minds) for "free".

As if the incompetence is acceptable because the Gamepass deal even in spite of all of this is still so good.

Well yeah that’s how it is. Sony has released more AAA quality 1st party games on PS5 but I still play more games on Xbox Series X.

It’s not certain that it’ll work much longer though…

I’ve prepaid til 2024 for the new PS+ which comes with a games library. Ended up as the same $5/month I prepaid for Gamepass.
Thought of the day:
If MS has no day 1 releases to brag about… since they aren’t releasing any games… What makes Gamepass better?

Similar sounding apology around the time when Scalebound was cancelled. At this point and with all his apologies sounding so similar, it feels meaningless.
In Spencer's defence, Scalebound was a fuck up by PlatinumGames alone. Master Blocker himself confirmed that.

What time is it?

The could just do 11.11.2111 again.

Hes got quite the track record for this shit.

Crackdown 3 delays
Scalebound cancellation
Halo Infinite delay

How have they not learned their lessons yet? How do you give a actual date and still not hit it madness. Not even a release window they actually gave a exact date over a year from launch

Phil should control his anger. He has 23 other studios, not all of them are trying to make their first new IP in 20 years. The reality is that all Microsoft’s studios are just struggling at reaching the finish line and just like in 2020 when MS put all eggs in the basket for Halo they learned nothing and did it again in 2022 for Starfield. Bad planning. They need to start having backup plans, always plan 3 big releases every year, spring, summer, fall, at the least.
I'd wager your post isn't going to age well after the 12th, Bethesda are running as they have before Microsoft took over, its just missed its target unfortunately. What about all the games Microsoft shipped last year? Or is that not fitting in with your biased opinion?

End of last year was great but launch year was awful and here we are again. There is no consistency. All we’ve seen from Microsoft’s 1st party studios on Xbox Series since launch is Bleeding Edge, Psychonauts 2, FH5 and Halo Infinite. 3/4 games came Q3/Q4 2021. Do we have to wait til 2023 for the next 3 games?

Spencer's tweet reads, "[…] While I fully support giving teams time to release these great games when they are ready, we hear the feedback. Delivering quality and consistency is expected […]"
This does feel a bit less Nice Guy Phil than usual… one of the first time where “I want to give devs time to work / release when ready” is met with a stern “but… we expect consistency in output”. A bit threatening…

Xbox shouldn't be mocked an ridiculed for giving their games more time in the oven. They should be applauded and encouraged.

If you want to mock Xbox, their game initiative during One-Era, and their swallowing of whole publishers should do the trick. But not doing for making the right decision.. and rushing AAA games is never the right decision.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Nah, it's just PR speak.

Phil, Aaron and the entire Bethesda crew met a few days before the press release for the delay, it's pretty well documented on social media. No doubt all this about the delay was finalized then and Phil had a few days to have a statement ready that doesn't throw the developers under the bus but also makes it sound like he's as disappointed as the fans.

Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Borderline insulting at this point.

There’s only so many statements a man can make without backing it up.

I fear we’re going to be waiting for Avowed and Fable to be the first great Xbox games of this generation.

Forza Horizon 5 was awesome but I could’ve waited for Xbox Series Pro tbh, the games output is incredibly inconsistent on Xbox, it’s sad to see when all things seemed to align perfectly before launch.
