All-new PlayStation Plus game lineup: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, NBA 2K22, and more join the service

GPU didnt take away any features from Gold. And Gold is still available.

PS Now had legacy console games and PC streaming. Now those are locked under the most expensive top tier.

And the funds from subscriptions at that top tier will help add more of that content to the library as well as improve the quality of what's offered.

At the end of the day, it's a business. And if more people wanted legacy console games & PC gaming (as it was available at the time) on its own, PS Now would've had more subs. This is what Sony thinks is a proper way to course-correct based on direct market feedback. Going by the vast majority of responses, they've made the right call.

Not the point. He said it was like PS Now but more expensive. There is a lot more in this than just PS Now just as there is a lot more to GPU than just Gold.
What if the guy just wants a plain PS Now service like right now?

Core features are till PS Now based. And it is more expensive. That's like saying you cant compare two cars year after year because the 2023 model coming out now is $2000 more but it has better seats or infotainment system. So you cant compare?

I wonder if Sony is still closing deals for the service and that's why they just gave a first look on the lineup... Otherwise it's a pretty silly mistake to not just reveal the entire thing instead. It's the second marketing fail on this entire service too, as the initial reveal was also lackluster due to the lack of information.

The service is a week away, why not reveal the whole thing?

Reading the blog post its clear these list does not represent all of the available games. I find it kind of strange that they don’t simply list all games that will be available in the different tiers because it makes it come off as worse than it actually is.

Perfect timing. I was looking to buy GoT, Demon Souls and Death Stranding soon. No need now.

To be honest, Sony being quiet and then dropping this service is quite unexpected. I thought this was gonna be a half-assed effort.

Ok....let's break it down.

PS Now users who also subscribe to PS+. Probably the vast majority of PS Now subscribers. Not affected at all.

PS Now user who also subscribe to PS+, but don't use any of the PS Now streaming. They actually are getting a price cut.

PS Now users who do not subscribe to PS+. Probably the smallest subset of PS Now. Yes, they have to pay more now.

So some existing PS Now subscribers are going to benefit from this while others may not. That's what happens with changes in subscriptions. And as thicc_girls_are_teh_best thicc_girls_are_teh_best pointed out, if PS Now had gained more traction with subscribers then things might be different, but factually we are not talking about a large number being affected negatively at all.

I mean, they have the numbers of PS Now subscribers that aren't on PS+ wnd it's likely to be a tiny fraction or the already small total. So yeah, can't blame them for streamlineing the service in order to obtain a much needed growth... Even if they lose a few people in the process.

In the end it will benefit far more people than the very few people that will be negatively impacted.

$120 combined

Which is also the price of PS+ Premium if bought by the year.

And technically speaking, offering a lot more value than just PS+ and PS Now on their own did, individually. I just really want trophy and online multiplayer support for the retro games it'd make sense for.

The way Sony's handling this is pretty smart. Not spinning off a conflicting service for these new features, just stacking them on top of what already works (PS+) at extra tiers and not taking anything away from the base tier that was already there previously.

Clean, simple, relatively to the point. I am always confused why MS did not do something similar with GamePass i.e making that an extra tier for XBL Gold on console, and be its own thing for PC (because that's basically how it works between regular GP and GPU but adds an extra segmentation that didn't need to be there otherwise. Soon there'll be yet another with xCloud being offered as its own option).

Classic Games Catalog

PlayStation Plus Premium**/Deluxe Plan

PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe members will have a selection of popular classic games to play, with some titles that will show improved frame rates and higher-quality resolution compared to their original launch versions. For select original PlayStation and PSP classic games, members will also enjoy a new user interface with menus that allow you to save your game at any time, or even rewind the game if you want a do-over.

Also, players who have previously purchased the digital version of select games from the original PlayStation and PSP generation will not have to make a separate purchase or sign up to PlayStation Plus to play these titles on PS4 or PS5. When these titles are released for PS4 and PS5, players can head to PlayStation Store and download a version for the consoles at no extra cost if they already own the digital version of the title. Some of the titles will also be available for individual purchase.

Additionally, some remastered classics from previous console generations will be added to the PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe plan. Below is an early look at a selection of games that will be available.

This is really cool, there will be resolution/frame rate improvements for classics and even extra features like save everywhere and rewind.
People who already bought classics in the past that are now available on Plus will be able to download and play them without subscription.

If you have PS+ Premium, the PS4 games in the PS+ Extra catalog can be streamed on PC.

That includes Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.
PSNow subs on PC were converted to PS+ Premium. That would be awesome to get GoT! So does this mean all the PlayStation Studios games will be available for streaming, or just select titles? I'm confused by a lot of this.

Do you have PSNOW? I do. This isn't PSNOW 1 for 1. Maybe my expectations were low, but I'm good with this.
my sub ran out a couple months back. i had it for a year or so. I think the general consensus was that PS Now sucked and had no games. But it actually had a TON of games. I dont think ppl understand. Thats why this isn't very impressive.

Yup.

That's the great thing about sub services. Aside from day one GP first party games, and some indie day one games here or there on various console or PC sub plans, many big name games come out later. You just got to wait. Of course, if you cant wait then buy it for $60 or $70. But if you can, just wait a year. Unless it's a competitive game you got to be day one like a shooter or sports game you want to do MP right away, single player games arent going anywhere. And as you can see, they can even be the directors cut version.

EA Play has almost all games coming out about 9 months later. Sometimes they come out a bit faster (ME Andromeda or Unravel) and sometimes more like 12 months (Star Wars games). But if you hold your horses for a bit, just let them come to sub plan.

I agree. I would like to have those games in physical but an almost $200 of saving in my case is a lot or anyone who don't have a PS5 yet.

I read it and searched for "stream" and "PC". The only comment I found was pertaining to PS3 games, "The new PlayStation Plus will offer PS3 games to stream and play on PS4, PS5 and PC." That's why I said I'm confused.

Right on. That sounds great, I've been looking forward to playing GoT and didn't want to dump money on PS hardware and the game. It will be nice to get Spider-Man back on the service too, along with Miles Morales.

Great list, but it's only a sample of the games on offer. Can't wait to see what the full list is like. I'm hoping for more PSX titles, including MGS and Silent Hill.

The duel sense still vibrates. Either that or they take out the section where Psycho Mantis pulls the controller and memory card trick.

Wasn't the game released on the PS3 as a digital download? How did they pull it off then? Serious question because I never played that version.

Same trick works on the VIta, because in the emulator itself, you can change the ports.

So it would probably apply to this as well if it uses the same emulator wrapper. There is also always this method,

Which PS Fan hasnt played these games already? Not a lot!
I’ve played DES on PS3, happy to plat the remake but not at £69.99. Returnal, again, I’m interested but not at £69.99. Not played Valhalla or Death Stranding either.

I mean, I think Returnal sold what? A million or so? A lot of PS fans haven’t played it.
