Sony released Tlou2 and ghost of Tsushima with a 3 week gap. Same for Horizon Forbidden west and gran turismo 7.

They won't sit on a finished game during the holidays so that both can shine in different months. If they are done, they are released.

Still...God of War Ragnarok, TLOU remake, Forspoken...VR2 and its games... Final fantasy Xvi rumored for this year...this is all too much lmao. I hope one or 2 of these are January/ march

There are articles all over the internet saying second half of the year, put that together with this news about Remake releasing Holiday this year and you have your answer.

If its packaged with a proper next-gen remaster of TLOUII and their Factions multiplayer, it would do well. But, if its releasing on its own, I'm not sure positioning it as a "big holiday release" is the right approach. This remake is unnecessary, and no one is clamoring for it. The original game has lots of fans, but enough to turn up in droves for a USD$70.00 remake at Christmas? Not sure I see it.

More sales and more money ? Last figures we had, the Horizon FW total sales were 40~ something % on the PS4 in different regions. That's an extremely sizable chunk.

And supposedly this is built on the TLoU 2 engine which already works good on the PS4. Not much need for bespoke downporting I reckon.

...drop the nostalgia glasses. Even the remaster looks seriously old by today's standards. They'll have to redo every single asset from scratch to get anywhere near the level of visual quality we've seen in r&c and Demon's Souls.... And that is only the static visuals, before we've talked about the animations, the new sounds system etc.
A full remake isn't really much less work than an original title.

Honestly I can see them releasing a "the last of us collection" with both games for that price. It's Sony. They don't care and they know I'll buy that at that price...wait wha...?

I think the singleplayer games (TLOU. TLOU2) will be released separately on PS5, each with the multiplayer included.

They’ll probably offer an upgrade path for the TLOU2 remaster, but I bet they won’t for the TLOU remake.

The multiplayer itself will probably also be sold standalone for like $20.

Basically like GTA & Red Dead Online, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

The immediate thing that comes to mind is to have something ready to go along with the HBO show.

But, yeah, it does feel redundant. There's a fairly modern version of the game that runs at 1800p/60 FPS available right now anyway.

Sure, some folks might have, but we can't reasonably expect that a big majority of the total PS4 sales were doing that.

I think that is what a lot of us were asking (what's the point?) when it was originally rumored. Maybe we'll all be blown away, but the PS3/4 game still holds up well so I dunno.

A collection makes a lot of sense. Especially if it releases around the time as the (free to play?) online game. Or if Sony includes some free gear in a standalone TLOU remake you can use in the online game, then maybe $70 makes sense.

I can't see it being a jump from something like Demons Souls PS3 to the PS5 version (although TLOU is a PS3 game). TLOU pushed the PS3 WAY more than Demons Souls PS3 did. But maybe if ND pushes the PS5 more than Bluepoint pushed it with Demons Souls then it will be a huge upgrade.

But even if that is the case, will it SELL? Demons Souls when it released on the PS3 was the first of its kind, very niche. It didn't sell particularly well. In the years since Demons Souls, Souls games have blown up so the PS5 version should have sold a lot. So many PS fans have already played and beat TLOU. Will millions buy a remake of (essentially) the same game? Especially if it's $70, when you can buy the PS3/4 version for $10 on sale???

I'm intrigued to see if these rumors turn out to be true and what Sony will include in that package.

If they did however go through with it, you would have to sit back and admire the brass balls on them to release the same game twice on the same platform.

A remake, especially a 1:1 remake is *absolutely* far less work than an original title. It isn’t even close.
