If you watch the video they say that the resolution makes little difference due to the amount of post processing, framerate is king after all.
So PS4 Pro version on PS5 wins?
Its 1920x804 but it's the most stable at locked 60fps and has all the same effects. XSS floats at 45-55fps.

I look forward to your posts defending PS4 Pro and about it giving XSX a run for its money. Or maybe you will change tune and say 1920x804 vs 2304x964 is a huge difference whereas nearly double the res at 3840x1602 is not.

Yes but it's still fail because the game isn't that good or optimized for these consoles.

Only an idiot would say chrckerboarding 1080p is worth it for 60fps and never dropping a frame, yet here we are.

Of course, but finally for VRR TVs users Xbox version is much superior as it usually stays in VRR window and that's only thanks to Sony barebones implementation.

Usual internet ignorance. First VRR below 48 fps is practically useless, for fps below 50 fps doesn't works, it's universally known. Anyway ps5 can support drops below 48 (not in a system level because BC is tied to the frequency I guess) but SFS can be actived via software (if the developer care). Anyway if you watch the video xbox doing better with VRR just because it can force the 120hz output in any games (at the cost of blurry IQ), not because VRR is active at the 40 fps limit.

Console lacks basic features, 120Hz, 1440p etc. Sony is like that for years, they don't give a fuck. I used VRR monitor for many years with my PC and anything north of 40FPS was wine with it, VRR worked as intended and Xbox works the same way.

And making devs use some features always ends up the same: they are not used, everything should be forced or system level (like on Xbox).

Game drops below 48 fps many times so on PS5 it's not optimal at all, on XSX gane is in VRR window almost all the time.

Despite the game maintaining VRR window allowing for judder free image - the issue is that slow down still occurs under the bonnet leading to less than stellar gameplay/input. This goes for both big machines.

VRR is cosmetic only, it is hardly ideal for games that rely on crisp gameplay & timing.

Which is what people that were overselling it for console warring / acronyms parading purposes would just handwave away: if a game floats between 45 and 60 FPS you may avoid tearing and stuttering but you still have gameplays speed changing / fluctuating.

VRR is useful only for games like these. It's not to be compared with locked 60.

If i toggle VRR off on Elden Ring i feel like throwing up.

PS5 performing the best with PS4 pro versions of games yet again.

it would be cool if Sony just allowed people to boot up the PS5 version and choose performance and it just plays the PS4 pro version or something. if that could somehow avoid having to download a different version of the game.

Does that make sense?
No sense, they are 2 different builds
