Uncharted Series Not Over Yet, According to Naughty Dog

So GoT needed DLC and a PS5 only re-release that was literally $70 to take over TLOU2, and somehow that means TLOU2 didnt have legs?

8 million in one year isnt that bad to me. It doubled its 4 million initial sales which is pretty respectable. Most games are top loaded including GoT. I think your overall opinion might have some merit, and its entirely possible that the sequel didnt meet Sony's projections or Joel's death or the poor user response cost them sales, but the data unfortunately doesnt prove it definitively. I do think ND and Sony are probably having internal discussions about the response to this game, and they might end up changing a few things about the themes and dreary hopeless nature of the game. Even Game of Thrones had some moments of levity and had good guys get a win or two every season.

Hey, TLOU2 had plenty of levity. Take On Me and Abby.

Naughty Dog might be more inclined to make a more woke gane, as is the case with a lot of game companies, but gameplay wise ND have improved significantly - look at TLOU2 versus the original.

ND is a talented studio. Maybe the most talented on PS… although I am not as much on that train as some due to their relatively niche and similar output over the last 2 generations compared with somebody like… Media Molecule (LBP, Dreams, Tearaway) or Guerilla who has done successful SP and MP shooters as well as a RPG.

But what I mean is that Uncharted was a game with very little political influence (not popular today to exclude political or social commentary), and it starred a character who invoked the action hero super man persona that is becoming hated among gaming publishers. Also, guns. Lots of shooting and guns.

The levity and banter was goofy and a bit edgy at times, at least by 2020+ standards.

I don’t think it would encapsulate the charm of the originals, unfortunately. It would be a shell of its former go around.

I don't really care what GoT "needed". It seems like you're taking this personally.

It's not about GoT or LOU2.

GoT consistently stays on the charts through 2021 and jumps back up again in 2022 with the directors cut. The point of the comparison is that GoT "only" sold 8 million copies.

If LOU2 is anywhere in the ballpark of GoT and it looks as though it is, that's significantly lower than UC4, and I think we can all safely assume that LOU2's expectations were in line with UC4 if not higher.

I'm surprised people are getting so heated about this, but it seems almost everyone has an agenda when it comes to LOU2 and find it difficult to be impartial and constructive.

I think it gets entirely too much hate from people who have thin skin but it wasn't the success that Sony had hoped, and I think that was clear.

Lmao unlike the other guys leaving you lol reactions and gif responses, i tried to meet you half way and even admitted you might have a point. And yet you think i am taking it personally and getting heated. Like what part of my replies to you are heated lol

If anything i was engaging in good faith with actual npd numbers and even offered some constructive criticism on what nd can do to improve the player reception going forward but I’ve learned my lesson and will stick with gifs from now on.

About as much as his arguments deserved, frankly. The only real information we have outside of the limited info Sony has provided is NPD and suddenly NPD isn't a valid source? So NPD doesn't get to say if a game was successful, but some random dude on a form does.

I didn’t mean you at least on the heated part.

You did seem to think I was placing GoT above lou2. And I don’t actually care. I beat both games. Will play sequels in both games.

If they do it they have to keep Cuckmann away, make Nate’s daughter a hottie like Elana rather than some butch lesbian like Abbie, keep it fantastical and fun instead of the next PGA Tour game.

Uncharted 4 was a great ending to the series. As was Halo 3 and Gears of War 3.

But of course the entertainment industries are incapable of letting it go and creating something new.

I mean that is just personal preference. You could have made that argument after Uncharted 1, 2, or 3.

Some of us would want more Uncharted games. If the demand is there, what is the issue.

I'll take a full blown remake of the first one ( contrary to most, I actually like this one a lot and it could benefit from a remake the most) and maybe that will also allow them to work on a new IP while still making Uncharted games.

Uncharted 4 introduced Nathan’s children, if Sony needs another uncharted they’ll get one.

Just let me have my fun adventure game series with a cast I already love, man. I'm sure there will be new IP but an existing one doesn't have to end.
