NVIDIA DLSS Gets 12 New Games; HITMAN 3 Boosted by More Than 2X at 4K

NVIDIA DLSS took up the lion's share of the company's Computex 2022 keynote when it comes to gaming. NVIDIA announced twelve games that recently added or will soon add support for NVIDIA DLSS, boosting frame rates in the process.

The most renowned addition is undoubtedly HITMAN 3, which is getting ray tracing with a patch due later today. According to NVIDIA, with all graphics options maxed (including ray traced reflections and shadows), DLSS can boost frame rates by more than 2X at 4K.

Then there's F1 22, coming soon with a slew of ray traced features such as opaque reflections, transparent reflections, ambient occlusion, and shadows. NVIDIA DLSS is sure to be needed at high resolution with all those ray traced effects enabled.

Deep Rock Galactic also recently got NVIDIA DLSS (and AMD FSR) support. According to NVIDIA, frame rates in the game can be boosted by up to 60% in 4K Performance Mode.

Additionally, the game also received NVIDIA DLAA support for those who don't need the extra frames but prefer higher quality anti-aliasing instead.

Another game that launched earlier this month with NVIDIA DLSS support is Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. NVIDIA says it can boost performance by more than twice at 4K Performance Mode.

Then there's a bunch of games that launched a while ago but are just now receiving NVIDIA DLSS, starting with Raji: An Ancient Epic. Originally launched in 2020, the action/adventure game set in ancient India and inspired by Hindu and Balinese mythology will get an Enhanced Edition featuring various improvements and brand new ray traced effects (reflections, ambient occlusion, and shadows). According to NVIDIA, DLSS boosts performance by up to 3X at 4K.

Propnight is FNTASTIC's asymmetrical multiplayer game currently on Steam Early Access. With DLSS Performance Mode, performance can be up to 85% higher at 4K.

NetEase's eleven-year-old Chinese MMO Ghost is also adding DLSS for up to 70% improved performance at 4K.

Indie sandbox mining and base building game Hydroneer can get up to 50% higher frame rates with Deep Learning Super Sampling, due to be added in the 2.0 update.

Warstride Challenges, the shooter game that's all about getting the highest scores, recently debut with NVIDIA DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex support. According to NVIDIA, the former guarantees more than 2X improved performance at 4K, while the latter lowers system latency by up to 53%.

Finally, a trio of new games on the horizon has been confirmed to be adding NVIDIA's Deep Learning Super Sampling technology. The nearest to release is Blue Isle Studio's LEAP, a fast-paced multiplayer shooter launching next week on Steam Early Access. DLSS more than doubles performance at 4K in Performance Mode.

This summer, fans of action platformer games with roguelite elements will be able to enjoy Loopmancer with ray traced reflections while NVIDIA DLSS more than doubles performance at 4K.

Lastly, action racing game Turbo Sloths will also launch this summer with ray-traced reflections and ray-traced shadows. Once again, NVIDIA DLSS helps boost performance by more than 2X at 4K.

Beyond all this NVIDIA DLSS goodness, a few games are also about to receive NVIDIA Reflex support, including Icarus, My Time at Sandrock, and Soda Crisis.

Deep Rock getting a preformance bump with DLSS nice...

The recent patches seemed to have negatively effected preformance at least for me, so nice to see a big gain with DLSS.

I like DLSS, but all this screenshots are with DLSS Performance mode. I only use DLSS quality.

This is what happens when competition enters the market, a fire is lit under the ass and things all of a sudden spring to life like a wilted plant getting a shot of water

Nvidia has hundreds of games with DLSS at this point. Its not competition doing anything, is nvidia by itself. They had multiple instances in the last 2 years where they had articles with 10+ games getting DLSS/RT

yup. and adding dlss is not a challenge for most modern games. both dlss 2.0 and fsr 2.0 is temporal anti aliasing/temporal reconstruction on stereoids. if your game has a temporal anti aliasing implementation that is able to use decoupled render resolutions, and have motion vectors, practically %90 of the work needed for DLSS 2.0/FSR 2.0 is done. all that remains is to simply flick a couple switches, do some jobs on UI, and that's about it

nvidia, with or without competition, has been pumping DLSS into tons of games since the last 2 years. it just became a regular thing for them.

Colour me surprised, seemed like every time dlss was implemented DF was making a vid

In the beggining, yes. More than 2 years ago. But at this point its more of a surprise when a big game doesnt have DLSS than the other way around. I've had games like Necromunda Hired Gun for example where it wasnt even announced that it had DLSS. It was just there. Nvidia says its going towards 300 titles with DLSS, so its just natural at this point

they do for big games. not so much coverage for small games

they did a similar dlss dump in february too

from time to time (2-3 months), they dump dlss with tons of ue indies and a couple of big titles. to be fair, most of these games do not even need dlss but support is always good (potentially, it is very good for gpus such as 3050/2060/future 4050)

still waiting for that DLSS support for Forza Horizon 5 tbh... that game could benefit from it a lot
flagship microsoft games won't likely support DLSS or FSR. i think they're expecting microsoft to deliver some DirectML based stuff. or maybe just FSR 2.0.

why do you think that game can benefit it from it alot? it is quite literally one of the best optimized games there is. it practically runs 1080p/60 FPS on a GTX 1060 with adequate high settings. That's the golden bar for optimization.

if you're thinking about anti aliasing benefits, do not. DLSS and TAA by their nature are temporal anti aliasing methods. they will ghost. you don't want TAA in such car racing games.

this is what you get by introducing temporal based anti aliasing methods into games with lots of car movement.

i'm glad forza horizon 5 just said *** you to Temporal Anti Alising. DF can cry about it all day. Game looks pristine, clear and sharp. And it does not ghost.

I want it for Antialiasing reasons yes, and I have more faith in DLSS delivering a good image than basic TAA, as DLSS quite often looks better with less ghosting than TAA.

the issue the game currently has is that MSAA simply doesn't work well with the high frequency detail (especially foliage) in the game.

so currently the game has near constant shimmering and edge flicker.

even if DLSS would have noticeable ghosting, that still might be preferable to MSAA here as it might be less of an obvious downside than the shimmering MSAA currently has, even at 4x MSAA, and at 2x MSAA it's even worse.

add to that that MSAA is also pretty demanding in nature and you also have another reason for more low end cards like a 3050 or 2060 to support DLSS.

,it never bothered me, honestly. game looks so crisp and clean that i can simply ignore the shimmering (then again, it is not disruptive for me. maybe it is for you. i respect that)

for the msaa performance argument,

rtx 2060 is able to get upwards of 60 frames at 1440p with 4x msaa which is more than enough (high settings, not ultra).

maybe you can make an argument that ultra/extreme settings would be more viable with DLSS? that's all right, i can respect that too

you could also use DLSS in ways that retain the crisp image. the game runs quite well as you have shown, so with DLSS you could maybe run the game at an even higher output resolution and then supersample that down to your screen resolution.

on my PC I can basically run it at near max settings at 1440p and ~80 to ~90fps (I run it locked to 72, half refresh, for consistency)
with DLSS I might be able to run it at 1800p or even 4K at stable framerates and then supersample down, having a very crisp image and an image with massively reduced shimmer.

in the end options are never a bad thing

Twould be nice but I dont think Playground is actively doing deep development on Horizon 5, im guessing most of the engineers have already moved to Fable the remaining force is the content team with a support group.
But its not outside the realm of possibility if it integrates into their engine easily enough.

I take it you dont consider Microsoft Flight Simulator a flagship title?
Cuz the roadmap has not only DLSS but also FSR on board, Asobo has been in talks with both AMD and Nvidia to implement it into the engine.
Its down to the developers to bother with FSR/TSR/TAAU/DLSS/XeSS or whatever upscaling techniques they want to bother with.

that seems very cool. i hope we can see it happen then

i do consider it a flagship title. it just baffles me that halo infinite does not have fsr 2.0 or dlss 2.0. the game absolutely needs it due its horrible performance, and their native taa is pretty bad. its a perfect opportunity for a potential dlss fsr implementation. if its really 343's ignorance, then it is pretty sad.
