Anyone patiently waiting for the xCloud Gaming Stick / TV App

For me streaming works like a charm (my latency average is around 35-45ms to the nearest Azure datacentre) so I think very highly of streaming particularly with xCloud and PS Now for PC since i am a user of both.

MS Announced a TV App and Stick and I was quite excited about the prospect. I have an aging Xbox One Original and since I game more on my PC the Stick seems like a logical replacement (I also want to de-clutter).

I've assumed things with the stick that hasnt been confirmed. I've assumed that the stick would give me access to not only the xCloud app but also all the entertainment App (netflix, prime etc) but also (fingers crossed) the stick will be compatible with a media remote not just a Xbox Controller.

I've got to admit... i'm surprised with havent heard anything since summer last year on the matter.

If I had to guess, it's low priority for them as most people will either buy an Xbox or PC or play on their phones. I would still expect it this year, it can't be difficult to produce.

I didn’t think anything of cloud gaining, until I tested positive for Covid last month and my family sent me to a room upstairs for quarantine. I never had one symptom, so I just sat with my iPad playing Mass Effect trilogy, Forza Horizon 5 and Fortnite when my friends came online. The many hours I played, and it only gave me a single moment of lag, which corrected itself very quickly.
I’m thinking about getting the stick for downtime at work once it becomes available.

Microsoft really need to get their encoder sorted. It's noticeably poorer quality than PlayStation Now. There is more fuzziness around text and the colours are so washed out in comparison.

I have really enjoyed cloud streaming or even local streaming. In a house full of children and TV's being constantly occupied or rooms being too loud, streaming games has become one of the main ways I play now. I played Red Dead 2 on my hammock in the backyard the other day. Streaming to my 12 Pro Max mounted to an Xbox controller. I absolutely loved it. No regrets.

Where before I would really care about the size of the TV I was playing on or the resolution the hardware was pumping; none of that matters when I just want to play games and I have no ways to play. Streaming has made everything more accessible and that's all I care about.

Guys, I have even been tooling around with Diablo Immortal. Its kind of awesome having a diablo game on my phone at all times. I just want to play games. That's all I care about.

They already have something like that and it makes a really big difference. Unfortunately it's only on the Edge browser (as far as I know) and is disabled by default (no idea why):

I am hoping once they finish the beta testing it rolls out across all devices and is enabled.

I'm glad you were able to overcome all that. It couldn't have been easy.

Clarity Boost is really good for picture quality, but it adds lag. At least for now, it is better not to use it.

I personally wasn't aware that it adds lag, but saying that I've got a pretty beefy PC. I guess they need to do some optimisation to do on it to benefit all hardware.

yeah i would love a stick, im guessing next year

BUT they also need a Xbox wifi controller, blutooth is not it

4k would be nice too

stadia remains the best at quality and latency

They'd better look for integrated TV app like GFN and Stadia (they'll be in 50% and 75% of the upcoming smart TVs in 2023).

I'm not interested in Gamepass and their stick but i definitely would buy xcloud games when the option will be available.
(My temporary pob with MSFT is the bysiness model, the sub in general... A la carte gaming is my jam.

No. Plugging something like a Fire stick type device into your TV for xCloud seems so 5+ years ago.

I'm a Gamepass Ultimate subscriber and I use xCloud quite often, but just use it on my phone when I'm AFK from my PC and Xbox.

U can get xss for under 150 used why would anyone want a streaming stick lol,
You can get your stick in your pocket in the subway when visiting your friends. Not sure you can do the same with the Series S... ;) (and a stick doesn't cost 150 bucks)

Maybe if I lived alone .. but being a family of four with everyone streaming something all the time it just wouldn’t work out.
