As a 35+ year console gamers. I must admit pc guys are right. Frames over graphics any time!

Dude was a PCMR troll who probably got hit with another warning for his endless shtick. Considering how much he spammed the “Fuck GAF, fuck Evilore, I want out”, it isn’t this post that got him the perm.

I know he requested it. But I don’t believe that comment I quoted would have gotten him banned.

Yeah I'm done with this place. Too many console warriors run rampant on this site. You can't say shit against them, otherwise you get banned. And this is in PC threads mind you. How the fuck do you let that happen? Moderation is ass. I already got my money back from gold with my CC company (what's the point when you get silenced?). It's the same place as several years ago when they got called out as Sony fanboys, it's still true to this day. Look at how many people left the site from being known as a Sony fanboy site, it's still true to this day. Fuck this place @EviLore I've tagged you several times, and you have never once replied, yet you have neo members who will tag you, and you reply immediate. Fuck you gaf, lame place to talk about games, without being able to talk about games. They ran every single person off the site, who actually had knowledge about the gaming industry. I called out GOW coming to PC from insider sources, and gota fucking ban for it. Same with days gone. Fuck this place. Also fuck the lame ass people like rofif rofif who constantly claim up be on PC, yet every single post is negative against PC gamers. Screen shot this.

Lol, what an EPIC MELTDOWN. Fanboys like him always points fingers first calling others warriors. $5 is too much for him so he had to do a chargeback. Good riddance.

I can't say I am top bothered by 60fps over 30fps.
I would rather better graphics than more frames.
However I don't like big swings In frame rates. A solid 30 is better than 60 with lots of dips. It then becomes noticeable.
That to me is the issue with PC. Consoles try to keep to a locked frame rate. On PC you can have frames going from 150fps down to 60, then back up to 120 etc.

Sometimes 60FPS or higher is a luxury, like in a 3D action adventure title. Other times it's an absolute necessity such as FPS games.

The simple fact is that my ability to make those last hair-fine adjustments to aim with a good mouse is ass on 30, competent on 60 and silky smooth at 120. I say this from a lot of experience playing at all framerates and different games. The difference in my game when I upgraded from 60 to 144 back when I was playing Overwatch was staggering and immediate.

It's sad to me to think that someone could take gaming seriously enough to be opinionated yet not perceive this massive and profound difference. It makes it seem as though they have never actually properly tried it, or worse, lacked the skill/experience for it to make a difference anyway -the same way a kid doesn't know he got shafted with the third party controller none of the grown ups want to use.

Or maybe they just don't play the genres where 60+FPS is essential and live in a bubble?

i have played couple of games at 30fps like bloodborne on ps4.. later i got pro for that 45 fps magic. But not a fan of 30fps its just too slow for my eyes.

I have played plenty of FPS games at 30 FPS and even lower. It is absolutely *not* a necessity. Its absolutely nice when it is there, don’t get me wrong, but FPS games are more than enjoyable at 30 FPS standard.

This depends on your display. 30fps is soooo bad on my CX OLED for some reason. It's fine on the monitor I use to game at work but for some reason, the judder is terrible on my LG.

Yup, i've been playing 60hz PC games all my life but i had not tested 120hz+ until a couple of days ago when i got a free CRT monitor (yeah, i watched Digital Foundry famous CRT videos). Im now running Doom 2016 in 736x552 at 120hz, so not only did i get to experience 120hz for the first time, i did it with the added effect of a CRT superb motion resolution and zero input lag, butter smooth.

I've played plenty of FPS games at or lower than 30fps myself. For example I really enjoyed my time playing Goldeneye in 1998.

But I didn't say fps games were not enjoyable at 30fps, just that higher fps was irrecoverably better -and I think Goldeneye supports this. To put it another way, I could still enjoy Smash with a crappy third party controller and some kids may not tell the difference, but given a choice I'll take a real Gamecube controller and not have an empirically worse tool/hardware for no reason.

It also depends on what you're playing. If you're playing an easy campaign mode with a controller then I suppose it isn't literally a necessity, just a luxury. Playing competitive FPS with a mouse or tackling Legendary mode in Halo, then it absolutely is a necessity. Like trying to beat all the event matches in Melee with a third party beater gamepad, yeah you could but why? You just get a still-enjoyable game with an unnecessarily gimped hardware limitation. That a lot of people rush to defend for some reason, I guess because until lately consoles were all about 30fps for big name games that aren't from Nintendo.

I don't agree. For me personally it is resolution and graphics until 1440p and "enough" graphic options enabled. Then FPS. Now I have a system with a 5950x and a 2080ti so I can have more of both, but I have zero problem going back to 30fps. I also have zero problem switching from xbox to playstation controllers, or diet and regular soda. I mean how are these things so hard for people?

To be clear, I do love high FPS, that is why I spend more than I should on my PC, it is why I am going to spend a lot more as soon as I find a monitor that is not half assing it like most, and a 40 series GPU.

That is certainly odd, but I can’t speak on the matter. I use a Sony Bravia x900h IIRC? Really nice TV and have my HD Consoles all hooked into it, including my PC. They all work super damn well with it. Some day though I want to upgrade to an OLED proper. Just have to sell a kidney or two first lol.

Ah, then that is my misunderstanding! I completely agree that higher FPS is objectively better, but I personally won’t fret too much if I can only play them at 30 FPS. As long as its *solid* framerate without dips, I am not too troubled by it.

People often underestimate how important the display type itself is. I also have an OLED TV and 30fps genuinely looks rather dreadful on it. It's somewhat better on LCDs but it's nothing like what you would see on an old CRT or plasma TV.

I still keep my old plasma TV and it generally looks fine at 30fps and straight up gorgeous at 60fps. Compared with my LCD monitor and OLED TV then it's not even a contest.

Up until my ps5, I never had the opitons of toggling 60fps or higher fidelity graphics. Up until this point, I always thought that PC gamers were snobs in needing higher frames and believed 30fps is good enough for anyone. I even always thought before the ps5 release that I would always choose the higher fidelity cause why bother playing at higher frames. BOY WAS I WRONG!

As an exclusive console owner I had the ignorance is bliss mentality. To make a long story short, it's hard to go back to playing many games at 30fps once you feel the fluidity of 60pfs. The 30fps games often feel very sluggish in comparison like they are played in quick sand. Even older games like Diablo 2 benefit greatly from this improved frame rate structure.

I know you can get the highest fidelity and highest frames if money is not an object but for many of us it is. I prefer console gaming due to it's closed eco system and certain exclusives but got to admit the PC gamers were right all along.

Frames>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>graphics!
Absolutely true. Gaming is an interactive medium after all; the relationship between physical inputs and visual feedback is of utmost importance. Take any first/third person game and do a slow pan at 30 and 60. The visual clarity and fluidity coupled with much lower input latency of 60fps is hard to give up. 30fps more than fine if gaming is a passive experience, where you sit and watch stuff happen for majority of the time. But when it comes to interactivity a higher FPS becomes essential. For me on PC the "higher" is currently a locked 50fps at 50hz refresh. I have to run 50fps on newer titles since my system is fairly old. But 50 gives a comparable experience to 60 which I can get used to pretty quickly. But I cannot get used to 30fps even after giving a go for 1 hour. The longer I play at 30 the tougher it gets. I'm always amazed at people who claim they can alternate between 30/60 without a problem. Honestly wish I can do the same but alas that's not the case.

Yeah, switching from performance to fidelity in Demon's Souls on PS5 is pretty jarring. The picture is soooo beautiful though so I hope all games have a 60fps mode for the whole generation.

I'd say, it depends. Do you need 120fps in Civilization? Probably not. Do you need 60fps in a racing game? Absolutely. It depends on the game. Many games are just fine with 30fps ( stategy games, puzzle games, walking simulators and the like).

I find demons souls 30fps mode very slow and laggy compared to some other 30fps games. It was unplayable even for me this way. Just after I compared to other 30fps titles and for example, bloodborne is much more responsive

Now you must join the 120fps master race.
I’m intrigued to try 120fps, but honesty I think 60 is enough. It fixes the issue of the stuttering effect and is plenty responsive.

I wouldn’t want to try it, then feel like 60 isn’t enough anymore, as I think those processor cycles could be better spent elsewhere.

I did it funny. I went for 60 to 240 and it really ruined 60 for me. Then I got 144 and it was ruined also because of 240.
Your brain gets used to it. Truck is to just switch to 20 or 30 fps, play for 5 minutes and then switch back to 60. It will look super smooth going up but never going down

120 is only a marginal improvement for console gamers. Mouse & kb players with their faces in their screens likely benefit more.

I run on an 85” mini led with VRR and all the fruit and the impact is negligible, so much so I’ve plugged back into my PSVR box forgoing the 120 and VRR options. Simply not worth it.

Also these 40fps modes DF keeps pushing, options are always nice - but 60 is still noticeably crisper and by far the best option for today in my opinion.

60fps is not enough. Don't get me wrong your eyes can and will adjust back to 60fps after seeing 120fps but it's really jarring to go back and forth.

120fps plus a good black frame insertion implementation is really something amazing to see, it truly is a huge huge upgrade over 60 and is the sweet spot for maximum visual fidelity and best graphics.

I will be targeting 120fps on every PC game no matter what settings I have to use. Unless it's a game that just won't run at 120.

Depends on the game. I played Ratchet & Clank in 30fps and didn't mind it but Horizon: FW feels pretty bad.

On PC I usually crank settings up to the point where I have about 50-60fps.

Also recently tried Dirt 5 in 120fps but didn't think it was worth the fidelity loss.

But I had a bit of trouble seeing 60 vs 120 in uncharted4 remaster. You can feel it a bit but it's hard to notice. I think motion blur quality and camera movement really helps.
It's much easier to feel with mouse look

Wish I could get this kind of performance and resolution with all the games I play on PC. Having a blast playing Doom Eternal right now. Halo Infinite would've had been made with id Tech 7 in a perfect world.

Dude forgot the #1 rule of war: numbers matter. GAF is like 80% Team Sony so it's not a coincidence that all the hardcore Nintendo bois and now all the hardcore PC bois are permabanned. And soon it's gonna happen to all the hardcore Xbox bois too (it already started, for example Riky is barely posting anymore). This doesn't even have to mean that mods are biased, it's just that the big team can mass report the other teams into the ground and so the other teams can't really get away with much compared to the big team. War is mostly a numbers game after all.

inb4 permabanned for "meta-commentary" :messenger_beaming:

Food for thought, everyone’s darling that got 10/10 almost everywhere and still appear on Best Game Of All Time lists, Zelda Ocarina of Time, ran at 20fps, and 17fps in Europe.
Quite stable though, I think, hard to say when it’s always stuttering.

But yes, you’re right. Higher framerates is always better. Unless the game is slow, slow games are okay in lower framerates. I had no bigger issues playing through RDR2 in 30fps.

You barely follow my posts then and take it too seriously...
I just posted few days ago that in last 2 years I've finished 20 games on pc ad 10 on console.... yay. I use it daily man, what is your problem. I didn't get 3080 to trash it.

Do You really not understand I can have a pc and also hate it with a part of my soul ?! Do you not understand that a person can own something, spent money on it and STILL SEE HONEST FLAWS ?!
This is what NOT BEING A FANBOY is like. To be able to see flaws.
I have 25 years of pc gaming behind me. I know it's strengths and flaws. It is amazing but I am not a fool to blindly praise it every occasion there is.

If You can't understand that, you really should leave then. I am allowed my opinion, no matter if you understand it or not.
Even if I really hated pc gaming with passion, am I not allowed that ?! wtf.
edit: And yes - my post in this thread was sarcastic. a joke man...
edit2: Every person with opinion is banned here. There are people who really are fanboys of x or y and there is nothing wrong with that. Just as you might like tits or ass :p
I am not antagonizing anyone
edit3: You can ask my friends. I've built many pcs for them over the years. but I hate the pc so much !?
I’d say liking tits and ass at the same time is the best position.

Otherwise, well said.
