I mean, the graphics/model quality is top tier and looks ace, prob worth the time they spent on it, but maybe not if you've played it to death. I watched the first 6 hours recently and was bored to tears at parts, I really don't get the hype, but since this was announced I've decided to wait on the remake and play it myself. I think I'll maybe just play it with accessability options to make the combat silly slow motion infinite explosive fun and focus on the narrative/story.

The play through I saw was like fucking 25 hours and thats someone who has beaten it 10+ times and knows where to go and wasn't like slowpoking through it. Is it really that long?! I guess essentially skipping the combat will make it much shorter but damn that sounds too long to me.

I won't be paying $70 for it. Because I have played the original before, and playing it again with better graphics isn't a high priority for me.

Now, does it look as good as other $70 games? Yeah, it does. Does it offer a comparable amount and quality of content of a lot of other games at that price point? Yeah, mostly, I guess. So it's not outrageous or anything.

The scope of the production is clearly smaller. This hasn't had nearly the amount of man hours put into it as Last of Us 2 did. They could "afford" to charge less for it, I reckon. But "full price" games have always included a wide range of production value and that's perfectly valid. Just because Persona 5 wasn't as expensive to make as Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't mean it needs to cost less, for example.

The fact is, at any price, it probably isn't a day 1 purchase for me, so maybe my opinion doesn't really matter on launch price.
Hard to argue with any of that.

you can bitch all you want but journalists saying anything won't matter. This isn't destruction all stars, the only way this will change is if people don't buy it.

But I will, so too bad. Also....it does not look the same wake up.

WTF are you talking about. Im comparing it to the PS4 game. Why is reading so hard for people? This is the third time this week.

People like you bitch about journalists sucking up to publishers but when they finally speak up, you dismiss them as rants that dont matter. This is literally their only job. To bitch and hold publishers accountable. This is the sole purpose of journalism. Saying they dont matter is so naive it borders on juvenile. Im not going to lecture you on the necessity of free press.

I bought it on PS3 and PS4 and finished it a ton of times. As much as I'd like to see the upgrades, I'm not sure I want to play through the game again.
If they redo everything witg TLOU2 level of animation/mocap.

You should want to replay/watch the story

What time is it?

Still no. Especially at that price point. I must have cleared the game a half dozen times (3 times on the hardest difficulty) and I just don't have the urge to go back.

But how is it worth the same as a brand new TLOU GAME? Math doesn't add up.
why is Mario Strikers a full priced game? did they put in as many man hours as LoU2? should LoU2 be $200?

The logic is not sound.

The LoU remake is worth that much to me (Fans), new people to PS, people who didn't play the first game and people on PC. It certainly holds enough value being upgraded to current gen standards.

No videogame is worth $70. They aren't even worth the $60 they currently ask for them.

This video is evergreen on the topic:

Who the hell pays RRP for games though? All the "£70" games on PS5 I've paid ~£50 on or the day before launch (By buying physical, via discounts and voucher codes), some even £45, same with Switch games, I've only paid £45 for Odyssey, the rest I bought during sales for ~£35. They say you can't return games nowadays but thats bullshit, you can just argue with the customer service for 1 minute and they will give you it.

I refuse to pay that much for games, PC games were were £25-30 growing up, maaaaybe £35 once in a blue moon. I remember when GTA V came to PC I had to pay £38 for it through a grey key site and I was perturbed by that price. Console games in 2000+ I paid maybe £40 on launch day worst case, but mostly £35.

Grey key sites are the savior of my gaming life, its not like the good old days of Ubisoft Uplay keys for like £13 on launch day :ROFLMAO: thats what I paid for AC: Unity on launch day!

I always wait for games to drop in price.
Companies don't decide how much I pay for their games, I do.

Even with the really impressive upgrades, personally for me not worth $70.

Half the experience was the story and characters for me, so can't justify paying for the other stuff they prettied up.

I only played the first remaster, liked it but is there really any replayability to it? Maybe once to do the highest difficulty but that’s it.

Do what you want with your money but just be aware that if this is a success (and most likely it will) the next remake will be a three part one for 210 USD.

Nope.
Not gonna say I had that awesome experience with LoU(story is good though), but at least the PS4 version is pretty damn solid. No reason to waste more money on that.

I haven’t played it since the PS3 days so I’ll jump in without much complaints.

But if I was Sony I would’ve used it to boost subscription numbers for PS+ Premium, day 1 on Premium.

It's probably worth the price all things considered but I already finished the story in the 2014 remaster multiple times so I'll wait for a big sale.
I wish I could experience the game for the first time tho, PC players and new PS owners are in for a ride.

I just played through part 1 again last year. I may pick this up eventually but not for several years and $20 or less price point.

Sony prevented 3rd Party retailers from selling PlayStation games.

I don't know how or why but the subtitle "In this economy?" made me laugh out loud.

It's worth it for many people. For the ones that it isn't they will wait for the price to go down to buy them.

Maybe we should be asking if Switch games from 2017 are still worth 50 dollars...
Lol. Also, games used to be $89.99 average! If anything everyone, to youngsters that just don't know, or you old fucks that just plain forgot, games have only gotten cheaper.

Nope not for me, my backlog is massive so at the moment the only game i will play day one is Baldurs Gate 3. So maybe i will get around to this in a couple of years.

However if you havnt played TLOU i think its worth a purchase

$70 is relative to the individual.

For me personally, I drop $75 everytime there is a UFC PPV and that is a fight card that lasts roughly 2-3 hours in length.

So for me, a $70 price tag for something that will give me dozens of hours of entertainment is totally worth it. Just to see the latest Naughty Dog tech and the improvements they’ve made is worth it to me.

But to each their own.
