Keighley said along with the digital showcase, the 2023 Summer Game Fest will be a "digital and in-person event to bring the gaming community together" in June 2023. He provided no other information or teases about what this could entail, likely saving this for Gamescom Opening Night Live in August or the 2022 Game Awards in December.

According to event creator and host Geoff Keighley, this year’s show was the biggest Summer Game Fest in terms of viewership and social media engagement, including a record 27 million global live streams, up 8% from 2021.

The event attracted 3.5 million peak concurrent global viewers and had over 6,000 co-streamers.

Twitter conversation about the event was reportedly up 100% compared to 2021, and use of The Game Awards hashtag was up 69%.

he should probably be more concerned about his own show being pretty forgettable. For all the hype he tries to push, it was kinda meh.

Next year, in person showcase.

Year after, set up a convention with playable demos at booths.

SGF then becomes E3 2.0

Geoff wins.

To be fair, he said to temper expectations this year on several occasions and mentioned things had to be pulled last minute so it's not in his control. If you consider everything under the SGF banner from State of Play to the FFVII 25th Anniversary stream, it was a pretty good couple of weeks even if his own showcase didn't have anything mind-blowing. Definitely lacking this year, though even if I enjoyed the atmosphere.

Well, obviously it is. it was in person last year in 2022. Why wouldn’t it be in person this year?

Why would it go back to being not in person when it started being in person again after Covid
