Sony exceeds number of promised PlayStation Plus catalogue games - Eurogamer

Up to 740 expected, though currently over 800.

Sony has exceeded the number of games made available as part of its PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogues by a decent margin.

Fans had been eyeing the service's slow roll-out over the course of the past month through different countries around the world - until its final deployment in the UK and mainland Europe today.

Ahead of time, Sony had promised "up to 400" PlayStation 4 and PS5 games would be available to both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tier subscribers - though the initial launch in Asia fell well short. Eurogamer's list of PS4 and PS5 games available today comes to 429.

Additionally, Sony had promised "up to 340" retro games, from the PS1, PS2 and PSP eras, plus the PS3 via cloud streaming. Eurogamer's list of retro games available today totals 404.

I've been subbed to psnow for a while and was really surprised they actually put effort into putting decent quality stuff with the revamp. Alot of stuff i want to play.

I use to spend ages scrolling over psnow catalogue cause of the lower quality stuff.

This isn't news, PSNow always had an arse load more games on it than GP.

As far the UK PS+ relaunch, I'm not seeing PSONE RE2, RE3, Dino Crisis 2. Maybe if I flip over to my USA account, where I purchased them on PS3, they'll populate in my game library or something?

Well get busy gamers. Go through all the games you were on the fence about or games which had curious.

I've found a few games I never would have dreamed i would enjoy but did. If your premium tier check out the classics they look so much better.

Nicely done.

Where on earth are they getting "Exceeding 800" from? it has nowhere near that many games available

Literally just counted them now, it comes to 580 currently available on PS+ Extra and Classics
Rollout is gradual. From comments I’m reading, some games are searchable but not appearing in the dashboard.

So, Sony fans love game subs now? Renting games is good?
I like to own my games primarily, I got nearly 800 days of access for around £100, I will play the AA games that I would usually wait for a deep sale on and I think I will revaluate in 2024.

There are going to be games that I want day one or within a short time of release, that Sony will NEVER put on this service so I think they have done a good job in keeping the balance for the majority of customers.

Time will tell though.

Honestly, it doesn't feel like it in Extra subscription, especially when you have some PS4 games locked behind premium subscription, like. Mafia.

Did you have amnesia for the better part of the decade? Or is this more of that disingenuous argument where you pretend people who play on PlayStation have not been renting games for a long time now. Which is not the argument being had.

PlayStation Now was announced on January 7, 2014 at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show powered by technology from Gaikai.[7][8] At CES, Sony presented demos of The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, Puppeteer, and Beyond: Two Souls, playable through PS Now on Bravia TVs and PlayStation Vita.[9] The closed beta began in the United States on January 28 with PS3, and on May 19 was extended to PS4.[8][10][11]

To implement the service, Sony created a single motherboard equivalent to 8 PS3 console units into a server rack to allow the games to function, as opposed to software emulation, due to architectural complexity.[12][13]

PlayStation Now was launched in Open Beta in the United States and Canada on PS4 on July 31, 2014, on PS3 on September 18, 2014, on PS Vita and PS TV on October 14, 2014, with support for select 2014 Bravia TVs coming later in the year.[11][14] At Gamescom 2014, SCE announced that PS Now would arrive in Europe in 2015, with the United Kingdom to be the first European country to access the service.[15] On December 24, 2014, Sony announced that PlayStation Now would expand to the other electronic brands.[16]

Library itself is fantastic. Disappointed with the premium cloud offerings for various reasons, but can't say anything about what's on offer in general.

PSNow predates Game Pass.
Did PSNow, now that it's been added to PS+, improve overall?
I am personally going to stick with the essential plan.
It’s undeniably better than PSNow was from a catalog point of view. Better and more recent games by a large margin.

The new system only sucks if you want to buy access to the game catalog separately since afaik you cannot buy it separately from the base tier?

It’s platform warring.
Why is this news worthy?

Gamepass promises 100+ games and gives you 400+. They didn't wrote an article then.
this has nothing to do with GP.
Why does this bother you? 🤔

580 vs "over 800"

that's a pretty big discrepancy. Is eurogamer counting all games in different regions separately ?
So you guys can't read apparently over 800 games with ps premium meaning that psnow games need to be included, which Eurogamer counted at about 400...So if you add them up don't you guys think it is over 800?
