Who honestly remembers most games by...we out played lockout no radar with a team of 4. No you remember the insanity of a play or a crazy sandbox moment or your teammate driving a full warthog off a cliff for a laugh just as you're about to win a tied 2v2 game steaming your stolen flag back to base on Standoff. If 343 could capture that sort of "classic" Halo in there matchmaking, sandbox and esports they'd be garnering new players, have higher retention and be front and centre in streaming content etc.
Haha so true. I still vividly remember so much BTB craziness. And on 360 Halo 3 you could watch theater together in a party with up to 3 other people. We nearly died laughing at our fuckups and "accidental" betrayals and friendly warthog runovers. Why they hell did they remove that theater 'watching with friends' feature?

I still remember on Halo 3 Standoff this one maniac picking up the enemy team and driving them to capture flags his own flags the whole match. Then at the end of the game - he finally picked up his own teammate trying to cap - but he drove them off the cliff! A salute to that Halo Legend, whoever they were...

Exactly, competitive fun I like to call it. It doesn't all have to be perfectly fair and balanced.

I have no idea why they removed the watching with friends feature. I would suggest too hard basket, I recall Bungie saying back in Halo 3 ViDocs theatre almost didn't make it at game release. It's insanely complex to be able to fast forward, fly around and detach in the simulation playback basically. These are the sorts of "industry leading" features and innovativeness 343 has lacked through all game releases and sustain. It's something Infinite highlights to me with the roadmap, launch features/lack of features etc. Why weren't Minecraft style servers a cloud player/party leasing option directly into matchmaking regional support? Why weren't mods and all that community supported off the back of that etc. That's just another example of 343 management not leading the industry. They wanted to build and engine for 10 years of servicing Halo, I struggle to see anything that matched let along innovated on what Bungie pushed out with Halo 3 or Reach e.g. Theatre, Forge etc. Custom Games Browser is nice but given PC support it's pretty lacking in terms of mod support or community features etc.

I didn't even go into what Bungie did with Destiny PvE strikes, raids, lairs, public events, gambit etc. By comparison the engine and modes Infinite supports is totally lacklustre by comparison. The art of Destiny 1/2 absolutely kills anything Infinite produced in terms of campaign or multiplayer.

All good! I haven't been on in a while. I'm pretty chill to play with as a teammate. I get super mad at the game but that's not directed at teammates lol. I will confess that I haven't been using my mic at all.
There used to be clan BTB and clan ranked BTB in Halo 2. It was insanely fun, huge maps with 2 flag and 2 bomb all day. Shit was wild, you had to be in a clan to even play those playlists. Then there was a pretty big BTB scene with Halo 3 that really tried to keep online events going but unfortunately died off with dwindling viewers and participating people/teams. It bothers me I cannot remember the old website/organisers of those BTB streams/events. When the developer doesn't support esports like the full game of course those segmented modes are going to die. I still shake my head at 343 pushing esports at such a derivative style of Halo play MLG/HCS etc. It has never been as popular as "Default" or event other modes such as BTB. Grifball/Infection even pushed more numbers than MLG back in the day.

YESSSSS!! I had so much fun with those. I was in a pretty decent group that would play together. We were moving up in the BTB rankings and then Bungie took it away :(

I have a feeling most US based teams have this experience 80% of the time.

Having full health. See a redlining dude. Cindershot him and follow up with a melee and the server makes it a trade. Uhuh. Right.

Base game is awesome when it works. Very satisfying. But no 100+ pages about coop for a mediocre SP.

MCC/Infinite screenshot. Saved to an external HDD, and got carried away in photoshop :)

Ozzy Onya A2Z Ozzy Onya A2Z you can also just take a screenshot regularly without a HDD for captures, and itll show up on the xbox.com feed or other external sites.
Yeah I do that with GamerDVR often, only I have been having a weird issue with just screenshot permissions and my ALT account which I play Halo on these days. Will try again tonight so I can post some Spartan love.

Yoooooo! My Kontrolfreek order came today; way earlier than expected!

Those grips though are going to be a hassle perhaps to apply.

Firstly they're for the OG series S/X and not the 8bitdo. And secondly I have to make precise gaps for the backbuttons...

Hope I don't fuck up.

Have to think it over and make something work tomorrow when I'm sober.. Still Yay!!!!!

Besides chatting (which I'm still on the fence about) The best way to even the playing field is to out maneuver and suprise them. It's kind of fun and really makes you learn the in and outs of the maps and patterns enemies use

Still to lazy to make pics of my Spartans....

Yeah - ive been experimenting on Aquarius playing bottom mid almost out in the open - rather than just sticking to the edges. Easy to pot shot enemies. Plus lots of places to escape and usually you can lure 1 or 2 to chase you down there while your team cleans them up.
There's also the thruster pack in that area giving you even more chance of escape.

Switching to Bumper Jumper is so hard. It's tough forgetting like 15 years of how you use a controller.
Yeah I cant and wont do it. I know it would help, but...no.
I also keep grenades on left trigger - aim/zoom on right click.

No way I can change after hundreds of thousands of matches at this point. No chance.

I've been bumper jumper since Halo Reach and use bumper jumper in every FPS I play. I also use the Elite controller with one paddle for the run button.

If you have paddles you get the same benefit as bumper jumper. No need to take your thumbs off sticks.

That's why I bought the 8bitdo controller. Right paddle for sprint and left paddle for crouching. Jump on LB. Melee on RB. That way all movement can be done without stopping to move or look. Such an improvement.

Btw I put equipment on L3 so you can still keep moving and aiming when using a grapple hook for example.

This is no diss towards Naked Lunch Naked Lunch & Aggrotek Aggrotek

When infinite launched I pretty much randomized my buttons expect for keeping jump on LB. Switched back to default after a month or more and boy did my automatic responses fuck me up for quite a few sessions...

3 more kills with the scattershot to get the ultimate challenge..But.. Its a decal right? Meh...

I am slowly getting better but some games I just absolutely suck lmao it's so hard.

2 flag and old school Bungie continues to please, even if I have to play US host. We were getting out slayed on this one and clutched it at the end.

Was all tied up and then went on a little running riot FTW. Had a weird lag/latency glitch that saved my ass at snipe 2 mid spree.

Better in what way?

Personally I'm noticing I'm getting better bit by bit

(maybe it's a placebo effect but it feels like those kontrolfreek thumbstick click on things really help. How? More precise aiming I think?)

Anyways there's so much stupid shit I do (choices I make):

Chasing guys like a tunnelvison having greedy idiot
Melee'ing to late or early (Halo2 still in my veins I guess lol)
Keeping composure (choking) when seeing multiple enemies.
Being to predictable (getting -much- better)
Inadequate close quarters awareness when you and your opponent are jumping around (although I have very low settings so it takes longer to look around me)

But I always know when I was my own wrong doing and that's fine so you can learn from it, just close my eyes, take a big sigh and carry on.

But some of this is based on fucked up servers so who knows.

I think that youtuber could use some less sensitivity training. I love watermelons and its gives that BR a very tropical look to it. The only thing I don't like about it is the price.

Just like remembering what buttons to press lol I keep finding myself accidentally jumping when I shouldn't.

I know I know it may not be fun, but try just jumping around some matches. You'll be suprised how fast muscle memory adapts. What I will have to mention is that under stress (battle etc) your muscle memory will switch back to default. But that's a process. And I won't take weeks =)

When I got Infinite I put scope on the left trigger, I really like that. So when in changed it back to R3 after maybe 2 month I was throwing nades to everyone I spotted lol. I also put melee on R3 instead of LB and after being completely comfortable with my setup I STILL press R3 in a pinch (once in like 80 times but still) instead of LB

I could swear he had a tier list of function(move/look/shoot/nades/melee, you get my point) to button placement

Anyways this could be that video but I'm not sure

Theres a cool looking Helmet that's still unlockable even though it says it'll come out in Season 2. Guess Event tied.. =/

Going to make an effort to play ranked only solo/duo. The wait might/may/does take longer to find a match but lately I'm suspect of players games their auto aim and wallhacks turned down just enough to work but hard to really be sure... Lil sus as you kids say =P

The world in Halo Infinite is incredibly expansive. Can I decide to go liberate a FOB while my Co-Op buddy heads in the other direction to take down a high-value target? How exactly does the game handle it if players get too far apart in the open world? How will it handle players being separated in the more enclosed missions?
Mulkey:
The whole point of playing together is just that—playing together! Co-Op allows a group of friends to join up as a Fireteam and tackle the various locations on the ring together.
To that end, we have established what is called “Area-Of-Operations” (AOO). This is the maximum distance that players in a Fireteam can stray from one another as they explore and tackle the challenges of Zeta Halo. If you stray too far from your Fireteam, you will get a warning to return to the team. If you ignore that warning and continue, you will be killed for going AWOL and be spawned back on your nearest teammate.

How large are the Area-Of-Operations?
Isaac:
It’s an interesting balance to strike because we want players to have the fun of fighting together, but we also don’t want it to feel like the game is forcing you to be joined at the hip, so to speak.
We landed on tuning the AOO with two values: an inner "warning radius" (800 feet) and an outer "kill radius" (1000 feet).
To give you an idea of that scale in-game: if two of you want to hit a really big objective like the Banished dig site, the AOO will definitely allow you to tackle an objective of that size from opposite sides with room to spare.

How will Spartan Cores (used to upgrade your equipment) affect Campaign Co-Op? Is it the case that if Player 1 upgrades an ability, that is then shared with Player 2?
Isaac:
Upgrades and Cores are tracked separately per player. If anyone collects a Core in co-op, then everyone in the Fireteam who had not already collected that Core will get credit for it.
You can then spend your Cores independently, and your Core count and upgrade choices are retained in your chosen save slot.
This means that you get the benefits of working together, but you also have the room for self-expression with your personal playstyle. If one of you wants to focus on upgrading your Drop Wall to protect yourself while your partner gets the Grappleshot melee upgrade to charge into the enemies’ ranks, you can do that.

Speaking of that really cool upgrade to the Grappleshot where you can hold the melee button mid-grapple to do an electrified slam... Can my buddy and I use this on each other in the middle of a group of enemies, like the ultimate Master Chief fist bump?
Mulkey:
Oh, absolutely. Do it!

“Mission Replay” is a feature that’s also coming alongside the Network Co-Op update. Can you explain how that will work?
Mulkey:
Mission Replay has always been a mainstay of Halo, and we want to continue that tradition with Halo Infinite. However, the more open nature of Infinite poses new creative challenges that did not exist when missions were broken up into their own discreet levels. You could simply reload that level and replay it.
In Infinite, missions are locations in a much larger playspace of other mission locations. We are leaning on the Tac-Map as your gateway to interacting with individual missions.
In both Solo and Co-Op play, you can open your Tac-Map, highlight a completed mission, and then choose Replay. You will then be prompted to select the difficulty and be offered to activate any Skulls you (or your teammates) have collected.
Setting a mission to replay resets it and teleports you (and your fireteam) to the location to tackle the challenge. You are free to wander off to do something else, Fast Travel away, or resume your furthest main mission.

So, let’s say I want to replay Warship Gbraakon—the first mission of the game—after my Co-Op partner and I have collected a bunch of Spartan Cores, will those upgrades carry over to that earlier point in the game?
Mulkey:
Yes! This opens up all new ways for players to experience those earlier missions and we can’t wait to see what experiences folks have with that!

One very cool and unexpected side-effect of this upcoming Campaign update is the addition of several brand-new achievements. Where did the inspiration come from? Can you give us an idea of what players can expect?
Mulkey:
The new achievements are targeted at the opportunities afforded by both Mission Replay and Co-Op.
Some of the Mission Replay achievements are targeted at immaculate play challenges, while the Co-Op ones revel in the possibilities presented by playing together.
To give you an example of one of them: we challenge you to kill enemies with a Gravity Hammer from the back of a vehicle being driven by your buddy.

XBOX & STEAM PC NETWORK CO-OP FLIGHTING

We will be flighting this Campaign Network Co-Op and Mission Replay experience through the Halo Insider program from the week of July 11.
We’re looking for Spartans out there to help us put things through their paces in order to ensure that there are no big issues that make it through to the full release.

What are the team’s overall goals for the campaign Network Co-Op flight?
From a technical perspective, our main goal with this flight is to catch any networking issues that are specific to Campaign Co-Op.

What are the requirements and necessary steps for someone to participate in this upcoming flight?
It’s simple! Here's a quick blurb, but keep an eye out for full instructions once the flight is officially underway.
Step 1: Make sure you’re signed up to the Halo Insider program.
Step 2: Ensure you have the entitlement to Halo Infinite (Campaign). (i.e. you have purchased it or have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription)
Step 3: If you’re participating on Xbox, have the Xbox Insider app downloaded, and opt into the Network Co-Op flight program once the flight is live. If you’re playing on Steam, you’ll be sent a unique key via Halo Insider communications to download the flighting build.
Step 4: Launch the build, party up with friends, and jump into Zeta Halo!

Buddies and I will likely give it a quick run through when it releases. No interest in going the Insider option. I've had my fill of buggy Halo thanks. Also my post from the other thread -

No major spoilers please -
I still havent finished Infinite campaign yet. The game is way longer than any other Halo. I thought it was going to end hours ago - I think im nearing the end. All these Cortana flashbacks at the bits im in now. Recaps of the dialogue of Halo 1-4 and things that happened post Halo 5.

Its interesting but im guessing all those post H5 scenes were supposed to be for Halo 6 but they scrapped it all and jumped the story forward a few months (years?). Regardless, for a supposed reboot - I have no clue how someone new to Halo would understand a thing going on with this Infinite Cortana stuff.

Another random thought after reading the Encyclopedia for several weeks now:
I only played thru Halo 5 campaign once when it came out - and I liked but didnt love it. But looking back I do appreciate all the different planets and environments you visit in the Halo U in H5. Going from abandonned carrier creation ships - to rebuilt glassed human colonies - to Elite planets - to Forerunner planets. The sheer variety was pretty epic. I think it doesnt get enough credit for that aspect of it. I need to replay it someday.

I enjoyed the Halo 5 campaign. There was some cool stuff in there e.g. forerunner levels assembly around you, running/falling down a guardian itself and the tank level vistas etc. The story a bit lacklustre but the environments and detail was quite good e.g. AI background fights/enemies/ships etc really filled the world out. All the button pushing and QTEs basically ruined it and not enough Halo 2 style set pieces e.g. take an LZ to then defend the LZ for a warthog drop etc.

When I think back over Infinite's campaign I mostly ran through it, it was mostly uninspired. The sandbox parts each each target of interest or FOB were cool, the bosses were cool and well done but the actual traversal using vehicles was totally janky and worthless which in turn made the grapple-to-everywhere really boring. The same goes for the wasp when you opened it up and hard harder difficulty levels, it became very repetitive. There are some elements I really liked about the open world e.g. skulls and surprise enemies but overall it felt extremely "samey" due to lack of environments and enemies were basically the same mish-mash everyway. It would have been way cooler to have defeated the Banished and then faced the Endless or moved off ring/other sections with different biomes. Complete with local fauna/flora/enemy changes e.g. different parts of the rings had more grunts in one area, or more forerunner enemies in another. It's something Halo 2 and 3 have done far better than Halo 4, 5 or Infinite to no end.

Looking back at Halo 4 the enemies and that triangle of prowlers, nights and watchers was fucking cool. It just got overshadowed by shit ammo and bullet sponges on heroic and legendary difficulties. When will developers learn to rapid fire enemies, waves of them, AI path them from meaningful spawn mechanics and generally just deliver high difficulties around tactics, strongholds and map elements over just bullet sponges and stupid imbalanced player use vs AI damage scales? Halo 4 had it, just fucked up the execution. The single player campaign had some real call backs to CE CQC as well.

It still drives me bananas how little scope is actually in Infinite's campaign in terms of engagements and locales. Halo was pillar features and iconography was always around the locations and enemies within; think Halo 2 and the ruins then the armour the elites wore and guarded such areas. Infinite just has these places you randomly go to, enemies that are randomly spawn there etc. It's a fun sandbox no doubt but in terms of replayability it just doesn't compare to the classic Halo 1-3 campaigns for me.

Your progress and achievements etc don't carry over from Insider to public release either. So if you're into that sort of thing you'll be replaying it and perhaps buddies will be "worn out" on it and not return to help achievement hunters etc.
I saw that. At least once it goes live it will keep track of where you are in the game playing solo and when playing coop. That will be nice. I'm wondering what the new achievements will be like.

Halfway through Platinum and out BR'ing 90% (Open Cross Play = 120+fps and k&m players)

Still SMFH at my teammates not keeping tabs on each other or anticipating spawnpoints... so many missed plays

Very frustrating but I'm talking in circles now so fuck it

Others noticed their nades doing like 50% damage (if all) playing Ranked Open Crossplay.

I can receive 1(!!!!!) BR shot (or have full health) and die from the (one) follow up nade. While I throw two at two guys without shields and nothing happens.

Getting shot behind walls still an issue.

Still a server thing ya think Ozzy?

I might go back to MCC but it's such a huge file

Such a shame; when the game works it's awesome. Love the weapons, maps (besides a couple) movement, design...

Sigh

Yes, in their version of the game/server decisions they're further away from the nades than what you see and play as in your screen. It sucks.

Tip: in a bad connection game don't bother using nades in a fight. Just BR it out.
