I gotta say, i prefer rift apart in performance RT and returnal visuals over matrix demo.

I just think you gain more from 60fps then all the eye candy in the matrix demo.

Its going to be really interesting to see what the coalition do for gears 6 if they reach 60fps (they are targeting 60fps) and other 60fps UE5 games.

I went with consoles because i like the better accessibility , and they are cheaper. PC seem like a better and better option though, with things like DLSS, better RT, xbox + playstation games now.

As a few others have alluded to in here I work on a computer all day for my job. There’s no way I could sit on a pc any more for recreation. I don’t seem to be able to mentally associate PC with ‘fun’ anymore.

The thing is I’ve tried and have completed numerous PC builds over the past 20+ years. At times very expensive and completely top-of-the-range. The problem I have is that I can’t stop fucking with things. I wonder if I’m the only one that’s like this? It’s the main drawback of the unlimited customisation on offer. The truth is I always end up spending far too long messing with in game quality settings. Always trying to eek out the highest possible fidelity, resolution and frame rates. It eventually got to a point that even the thought of dealing with that shit again just bores the fuck out of me.

It’s weird but it’s easier for me these days to just play on console. Ease of use is worth more to me than the increased fidelity of PC.

This is one of the reasons I've turned back to PC gaming already after owning a PS5 and XSX for a while. I don't think developers are willing to let go of 30fps because the casual audiences that buy majority of their games don't care about frame rates. As the generation goes on and fidelity is pushed harder we'll probably see 60fps fall to the side more as 120 already has.

Other things that pulled me back:
KB+M support for FPS games, tried to live without it - can't.
Ability to play old games in 4k with unlocked framerates without hoping for developer patches (MS made some good strides here at least but it seems to have lost steam)
More and more Sony games coming to PC where they play at their best

If you are at all interested in PC and have the budget + are willing to spend a little more time and effort in getting things up then you can definitely 'console-fy' them. Check out Playnite. I spend a lot of time leaning back in a chair playing on my OLED with a controller too, you aren't tied to a console for that experience.

This is categorically false, especially for shooting games. Trying to aim competently with a controller in an FPS/TPS is like cutting off your hand, duct taping a gun to your bleeding nub, and wondering why the hell you can't shoot.

Try working 8 to 10 hours a day in a desk and using the same environment for gaming right after... Sure it makes you wish you could just sit at the distance and relax when playing, I literally learned to aim with controller just so I could play from the couch

I was one of those '30fps or die' guys on console as I've only ever owned consoles and then less than a year ago I got a gaming PC.

Now anything below 60FPS gives me a headache. Anything over 60FPS gives me a boner. I'm playing Division 2 at over 100FPS and its just

I can see it, but I always chose higher frames when available.

Wonderlands is an example: 4k60 or 1080p120. I play at 1080p120 on a 65” LG C1.

That's the biggest things pc lacks.

You can't set it to your TV and play through your couch.

Youve been able to play on a pc for over 30 years, but they still haven't managed to make it controller compatible.

I also work there. It's comfy because I can have all the cool things of the living room like the TV or the A/C there while I work or game.

I don’t have a living room PC and I still laughed at that.
What compatibility issues? Just spent 200 hours playing Elden Ring on PC with controller, even with an old ass 360 controller it truly just works, and zero driver updates, game patches updated without me even noticing it, plus locked 60fps 99.9% of the time, in Ultra.

It’s really just the cost, PC gaming is expensive. I’d guess that’s the number one reason not everyone have a PC. The rest is mostly about not realizing things have improved the last couple decades.

The trend seems to be different settings for different picture qualities / framerates, and with hardware becoming more and more powerful, framerates are only going to go up. This has always been the case for PC and it's great that this is also becoming the norm on consoles.

By the way, nobody is complaining about the N64's sub-20 fps not being the standard anymore, or the OG Xbox / PS2 sub-30 fps, so what's so special about the number 30? It would be the equivalent of complaining that resolutions are going above 720p or that controllers no longer have cables attached to them. Technology is moving forward, and so should you.

I don't like console gaming because of how low you have to sit to the ground. My bad back makes it very uncomfortable having to stand up from that position. Console gaming is mostly a young mans sport.

A High End PC will certainly always be better than a console, it's simple and it's a fact... the problem lies in being able to afford it economically and not everyone can.

The funny thing is a high-end gaming PC isn't THAT much more expensive than buying a console. Like, just price-shop around and anyone can get a decent gaming PC (with 60FPS) without heading into the multiple thousands of dollars territory. Consoles are just easier, really. Building a PC is harder, so it will always be more of a enthusiast endeavor. Most people aren't tech nerds, so few don't really want to get into the nitty gritty of cost-effective PC shopping, and consoles are easier and quicker to set up. It's just how it is. 30FPS is as a result of just people being people.

I built a PC for a friend last week and the only way for it to not cost twice the price of a ps5 was to go through the used market. Bare in mind for 1k the PC is slightly faster. Prices are not quite there yet contrary to what the shill youtubers are telling you.

However, I would take a $1000 PC over a $500 console toy box any day of the week.
