New Xbox Game Pass Games for July 2022

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Not with months like these. Getting lots of games is useless if they're either recycled or crap.

This is just the first half, it's not counting games that released before today in the month like Far Cry 5, House flippers nor does it count the second half, or the day 1 releases like As Dusk Falls Escape Academy etc that are releasing in the 2nd half of the month.

Most people would only count Far Cry 5 as worth playing there, but you can buy the digital key on Eneba for £6.

Virtua Tennis used to be so good.

Surely if you were that interested you would have already played the Yakuza games before they were yoinked? They were on the service for absolutely ages. Ages.

I think people forget that others might be playing another game first, or working through other titles first in their backlog first before playing new games.

I only play one single player game at a time, and couple multiplayer games with friends.

Also looked up what respect V is, it's apparently a DJ max game and looks pretty neat if you're into music rhythm games.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Yakuza is a high level franchise, free games are straight up for a certain type of market, I’m still buying $70 AAA games straight up.

Maybe you should start buying games? So the industry will survive in the long run..just a thought :)
Maybe you should mind your own business. I subscribed to Gamepass and I have every right to call a bad month out.

I'll pay the least possible amount for both subs and games, it's not job to set prices up.

I already own these Yakuza games on PlayStation btw, no need for you to worry.

i mean its summer, no one plays or releases games this time of year, school holidays and the like so kids games at least make a bit of sense

Gamepass has been very poor for months. We haven't really had any real megaton drops and the rest of the year looks bare outside of Plague Tale and Scorn.

They really need to get Activision sorted as fast as possible because Gamepass is starting to feel stale.

Not really. Not Sony's first-party output. Returnal and Ghosts etc have never been that cheap. It's really just games that end up on gamepass.

That's such a weird point, those are two fairly new games. Of course they won't be that heavily discounted yet.

But then again, in 2021 I played Outriders, Psychonauts 2, Halo: Infinite (campaign), Forza Horizon 5, The Medium etc which were all $60 games, probably missing a bunch here.

I played Edge of Eternity, Guardians, Sniper Elite 5 and more which were full, or near full price this year and games like STALKER 2, Redfall, Atomic Hearts, Plague Tale Requiem, Forza Motorsport, Scorn and a bunch more in the next 12 months which will be full, or near full, priced releases.

All the while also adding games like Chorus, AC Origins, Far Cry 5 etc that add more value along with a truck load of day 1 indies.

The arguments against game pass's value are always so weak.

That's not true. Sonys service offers some of their first-party lineup which has never gone as cheap as a few dollars like what you can get far cry 5 for right now. They never will get that cheap. Sony (and Nintendo) value their games much higher. Gamepass does offer great value. IF you like MS's first-party output. IF you like other third-party games that can be owned for cheap. I got Yakuza 0 years ago for "free" on ps plus for example.

All the while conveniently ignoring all the third party games that also come to the service day 1, I guess 🤷‍♂️

You can also get Yakuza Like a Dragon on game pass which still sells for $60 new at retail. Hell, the entire franchise, just minus the Judgment spin offs, is on game pass right now.

Hoping Matchpoint: Tennis Championships isn't another shitty tennis game, but it probably will be.
I tried the demo a week ago or so. Mind you, it was super late and I was somewhere between mildly inebriated and over-tired, but it felt like the hardest tennis game I have ever played. It took me a while to score at least a point.

Anyway, probably the weakest GP month so far. It is kind of cool that they added some kids content but they could have spread it out over the course of a few months. On the positive, I have only heard good things about Road 96.

There'll be another batch in 2~ weeks from now. Hopefully folks find more agreeable games then.

I'm not seeing anything too exciting for me in this batch, but I just started Far Cry and am liking it and I want to play Chorvs and several others at the moment so I'm not too worried. I hope there are some more exciting games for me in the next batch though.

2021 was crazy sure, but Far Cry 5 is a game from 2018 which is 4 years ago, and AC Origins came out in 2017 which is 5 years ago. Since then both games have been dirt, dirt cheap. As good as both games are, they're not really adding "Value". At least not the same way we were getting in years past.

We should have had, for example, things like RE2 and 3 by now, maybe even AC Valhalla or Watch Dogs Legion, or something like Cyberpunk . To put it into perspective, GamePass added Hitman 3 a year after its release (as well as Avengers), Yakuza Like a Dragon just a bit after 6 months, Guardians of the Galaxy and Metro Exodus within 6 months etc.

They just clearly aren't dumping the money into 3rd parties the way they used to, I guess potentially due to the investment in the Activision deal, and I think 2021's Gamepass simply set the standard too high as well.

Gonna give tennis a go, nothing else there really but I'm already playing sniper elite 5 still and origins.

Dunno why we constantly have to have psn+ game are shit, gwg are shit, gamepass phase games are shit etc. PSNow games are shit etc

Plenty to play until god of war comes out

For RE, we have seen the leaked Village contract where Sony prevents Capcom from putting it out on other services before Sony's own service, that likely extends to Re2/3 remakes as well.

This year in general hasn't been as good as 2021 for third party AAA releases so far. Sniper Elite has been a great notable AA1/2 game that was on it day 1. Plague Tale, Scorn, Atomic Heart are all coming later and day 1. STALKER 2 would have already been out had it not been for real world events, that's also day 1.

MS's first party also delaying most of their projects from this year also doesn't help. While 2022 itself seems a bit thin, the next 12 to 15 months in general are packed and should keep most people happy, I suppose.

What point are you trying to make? If you don't like Sony's first-party output the story is the same, LOL. Only with GP there are day one games from third-parties that aren't on discount. MS also doesn't move their pricing nearly as much as third parties, that's a nothing statement when it comes to first-parties all around.

I give praise when it’s good, I chat shit when it’s bad 🤷‍♂️

It’s a service that I’ve paid for at the end of the day, so I expect something for my money. I’ve seen PS Plus go from god tier (PS3) to shit tier (first 3 years of the PS4) back to decent tier now. I hope Game Pass avoids that pitfall and keeps a high bar throughout.

We know that these companies can listen to online feedback when they choose to.

They’ve really let the standard slip this year. Disappointing. There’s so many quality old games that they could probably add for peanuts. This is not for me in its current iteration.
I agree. Gamepass really lacks some big games the past few months imo.
Something like FF7 remake would have been something.
Also Microsofts 1st Party Studios not getting anything done also isnt helpful

October is stacked for GP. August and September who knows. Im just hoping Dusk Falls doesn't shit the bed in 2 weeks.

I wish Phil would break out the cheque book and get Lego Skywalker or Elden Ring or Far Cry 6 (rather than 5) or RE8 (if allowed). Something big and noteworthy. Or drop in Fallout 4’s DLC or other first party DLC they have kept off the sub. Road 96 looks interesting though. Maybe BF2042 will get added to EA Play finally.

Yeah I get it but it makes threads a fucking mare to read. Maybe we need a reaction only thread to the announcements. I'm not talking about legit discussion but the kinds of people who wait each month hoping one side or the other is crap to just score points.

Whatever gets added, if it's good I'll play it, if not I won't. I've had some amazing games from ps+, the collection, the same from gamepass and once from gwg ;)

OP should add this as well.

Holy fuck first the Last Call BBS and Road 96, Shipbreakers, House Flipper now THIS. It's like they're stalking my Steam lurking or something :| or I'm not that unique and I fit right into their demographic :|.

It's only two weeks, the vitriol is a bit over the top... Coming from someone who is disappointed as well, stoke the flames if the end of the month is poor as well... There's no way that you've ran through the catalog anyways

What happened to gamepass? It used to be so good.

Probably hoped their first party would carry it but they shat the bed instead, and MS isnt keen on throwing big money on third party titles when they’re trying to land ActiBliz.

This is a bad month <EDIT: Fortnight> even by the already low standards of GP.

But …. Last Call BBS. Ok that gets a nod as Zachtronics Last game before they close. It’s the only thing I’ll bother to download from this.

Was definitely going to buy Last Call BBS, so that saves me $20! Also very interested in the escape room game, and maybe the tennis one as well.
