Genuinely unreal how upset people get when they hear the title of this game or the developer.

I don't remember anywhere near this amount of vitriol when Demon's Souls remake came out but I wonder what the difference was oh wait it's because the original game was made by Japanese devs.

Genuinely unreal how upset people get when they see mild criticism of this game or the developer.

Maybe actually read the thread before making widespread disingenuous generalizations and assertions?

Did demon Souls have a ps4 remake?

No, and neither did The Last of Us.

If you think people calling developers hacks and money grubbers based off of literally nothing is "mild" then I hate to see what you think is irrational.

Of course this guy is going to defend a project he's working on. Why would you expect otherwise? Especially when it's an outsourced project. They're going to be extremely vocal, as they're essentially promoting their own work and the company itself.

Bend Studios is kind of in a weird place now that the Days Gone sequel has been axed. This remake needs to be a home run, and not only ride on the coat tails of the previous two LOU games, but to also show how competent a developer they are. This may be their last chance to redeem themselves since they haven't had a whole lot of projects sent their way outside spinoffs. If everything goes right, they could turn into the next Blue Point. If it doesn't, well I wouldn't be too surprised if they get shuttered.

Didn't hear about this part. Interesting.. wonder what they had in mind before HH cut their budget?

Shawn Layden was interim CEO, but judging off of his comments, as well as Jason Schreier’s (unfortunately lol), the remake began as a start-up project by a now defunct support studio (VASG).

I’m not sure if Sony had always planned to release it this way though. TLOU remake feels like a cash grab mostly because of the timing.

After Sony’s success with the Spider-Man & Uncharted films, coupled with the lack of next-gen games this year (or any enticing AAA games at all this summer for that matter), Sony probably seen September as an opportunity while we wait for GOW Ragnarök to finish cooking later this year.

"Voting with your wallet" must be one of the most bullshit concepts ever.

These games sell millions of copies. One unsold copy is a drop in the ocean. Sony will never know the difference. Much better to buy the game and tweet at them loudly and repeatedly.

It’s a phrase for the collective.

If you don’t want/need something, don’t buy it lol. These games go on sale quite regularly though. But as far as price point, you’re always going to disagree with “someone” over value.

Not every game or exclusive meets their projected sales target, either. And if they don’t, businesses like Sony adjust their expectations accordingly. Look at Rockstar.

Either way, how it performs, or what’s its priced shouldn’t concern an individual if they don’t buy games day one.

Bend is working on they own new IP. A multiplayer open world game.

“Today, we are excited to share just a snippet of news on our current project,” Bend’s McAllister wrote on Tuesday.

“We are currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer and builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world that we are extremely excited to craft for you. We cannot wait to reveal it to you when the time is right.”

I don’t think that matters to be honest even if it’s true. The game will be well optimized for the PS5.
Yes of course, but the people crying it's a cash grab aren't taking that into consideration. Imagine the outrage if this didn't come to PS.

It's $70 because all of their new games are $70.

Real question is how well will it do on PC at $70? We will see (along with MW2). Hopefully they fail, but I have my doubts.

Isn't Bend also owned by Sony?

Yes, and what does that have to do with what i said? The post i replyed to was implying that Bend had no projects going on and needed TLOU remake to do well to look good or risked being shut down.

They next project that they are working on is the game that needs to do well, not the TLOU Remake.

OFC the PS5 was the target platform. Thats why the PC version will be released later. Probably ported by nixxes.
It's more than likely being released later because they aren't ready for day and date yet. If PS5 was the target platform this entire release makes no sense. Most of these people have played it, but the remaster would be unacceptable for PC charging more than $20.

The remake was made to match the quality of TLOU2 and is being released now on PS5 to match the release of the HBO series. They are probably expecting to grab new players that will became fans of the TV series.

The PC version of the game is still in development. When you target a game to a certain platform, the game released 1st on that platform.

People that watch Netflix aren't going to go out and buy a console and game, if they are that interested they would watch a no commentary playthrough. I even did that with Yakuza as I loved the story but couldn't take the repetitiveness.

Twilight Princess was made for GC but was delayed a month to sell more Wiis.

You, are not all the people.

The Witcher 3 sales were up 554% thanks to the Netflix show

Surely you know the difference between a remaster and a remake.

I knew you were going to say that even as I put in the answer but I thought, why not let you twist in the wind on a simple word used wrong. Yep, I know the difference. And it does change my point at all. This is a remake of a game that was already remastered, that was already scored a 9 or a 9.5 in most cases. What's the remake going to get to justify itself, a 18 out of 10?

All animations redone :messenger_sunglasses: this "cash grab" will have better graphics, production, animation and gameplay than your fav game.

If this was some obscure Japanese anime action shit yall would be eating it up. :messenger_grinning_sweat::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_poop:

Ok so let's explore this theory that its worth full price. Are you seriously suggesting that for this remaster (just saying this now to bug people cus it's fun), Sony spent the same amount on development as when they made the original game? I'd wager its far less than half since the story, level design, voice acting, etc is already done. Less than 50% of the work (even if excellent) And yet full price?

It’s simple. Gamers are just cheap.

$70 for 20+ hours of entertainment is NOT a lot of money. You already pay $20 to rent shitty movies on some obscure streaming service. Do the math. Gamepass has just made every gamer cheap and entitled.

Why are they charging $70 for it? Because they worked hard on it and unlike other trash ass developers, when ND works hard, it shows in the product. This will be the best looking game ever and I can say that confidently without even doubting it or being hyperbolic. Well worth the price of admission for the work they put in and the quality of the product.

This isnt some shitty From software or SquareEnix game with PS3 level graphics and no story. This isnt some 60fps patch or VRR update. This is a full blown remake of one of the best games of all time by the most talented devs on earth (by far).

Oh not this crap again.

First of all, gamers are not cheap. We all have tons of other forms of entertainment at our disposal and price matters on all of it. I can do the math just fine.

Give me a full new game from naughty dog and most of the time I pay it no problem.
Half the work, half the value. You also seem to conveniently forget this game has already been played by and paid for by most of us twice.

Your arguement is straight up weak sauce.

But I can just sit on my ass and cuntsume that Movie content, compared to having to WORK to consume the 70$ game content.
They should be paying ME to play the game!
/s

The lack of MP and the same game over again; a third time, is not worth 70$ imo.
Not to mention we only heard corp slogan's and media lingo on how its going to do this and that like lou2, but NOT show it... even when the game is Gold...
I'm really doubting it, but hoping they add prone, rope tossing with climbing, and other cool lou2 stuff... but again im not holding my breath. Most likely Lou1 gameplay with less loading time walking and having the talking integrated during "puzzles" instead.
When it comes out on PC I might get it during a crazy christmas steam sale.
Already got lou1 platinumed anyway.

It's an old game and everybody is knowing like most of the spoilers anyways. I for sure buy it in a sale or not at all.

My man, even $20 for the PC version is unacceptable; It’s an old onrail videogame using Playstation 4 assets in the year 2022, I expect a lot more.

Take the girl to dinner: $70. Buy a game that will last you 100x longer than that dinner: $70. If anything, games are too cheap. I paid $74 for Street Fighter 2 in the 90s so I don't get the outrage. Especially for a buy to play game where you get the full experience. No MTX. We should be applauding games like that these days.

Avengers Infinity War got re-released into theaters like 2 months after its initial run and was the same full priced ticket. Should it have been cheaper? Thats what you people are asking Naughty Dog to do. LOL

Titanic had a re-release with zero new footage, same full priced movie ticket. Should it have been cheaper?

You guys are asking game publishers to do what literally no other industry does.

Its the definition of cheap if you ask me.

There's a big difference here. You weren't able to play Demon's Souls on PS5 and the jump in quality is bigger.

There is clearly a lot of interest in this, although I'm not interested and also found the upgrades uninteresting at the Geoff Keighley borefest. I think one thing to understand is that advancements in gaming between 1992 and 2002 are totally different to changes between 2012 and 2022. There was a revolution in consumer 3d graphics then, but in the last ten years all we have had is more processing power and stalled attempts to mainstream real-time ray tracing and virtual reality, neither of which are being showcased by this remake. Seems like the main innovations in the past ten years have been in mobile gaming monetization, not in graphics technology. Certainly I would not want to attack developers in 2022 for wanting to take care over details in their game such as in animation, especially since standards seem to have slipped, if anything, in the last ten years.

I'm not surprised that there are people here who will bend over backwards defending this kinda shit.

No wonder this industry is filled with garbage, retards are gonna buy it anyways.

Well, yes... but within the creative field at least you can point to certain projects and say they are being made with a degree of artistic intent and meaning. There is a reason for their existence beyond the mere acquisition of money.

That is not the case with this. If anything, this shit existing means hundreds of creatives weren't able to makes anything new and somewhat more valid. It's a net negative for creativity in video games.

I dont understand the 70$ problem. It will be on sale later because its not nintendo. You dont have to be afraid of spoilers, you can wait this out. If you dont care you can still play the ps3 or ps4 version. They are the same game right?:messenger_grinning_sweat:
BTW my platinums are still fresh, but I'm really interested to play it again to see how different it is. I will just wait for a sale

The very creative artists who worked on it sure think it is. Funny, that.
